Neither has the interior oil lamp and I have been told that just about any small metal wide bottom oil lamp can be used. Both lanterns have their original thick heavy clear lens and these are in excellent condition. Up for bid is a vintage solid brass ship/dock light made by Oceanic. This includes a solid brass electric box. Both are thick solid brass. The unit is 12" long and weighs nearly 8 lbs. I believe this was not used because there are no holes drilled in the electric box for the wires. This is fresh out of storage. Rare Vintage NY & NJ Port Authority Red Lamp Light Beacon Nautical Airports
For auction is a rare Light/Lamp/Beacon. From the New York and New Jersey Port Authority. It's used but in great shape and DOES WORK! I tested it with a 6 volt battery, but its probably designed for a 9 or 12. I'm not sure what this was for exactly, but some kind of signal, possibly for a port, an airport, or one of the bridges/tunnels. It's all steel, and has a glass globe on top with a red plastic insert. It measures 8 inches long, 4 3/4 inches wide, and about 12 inches tall including the globe. It's made tough, weighing 8 pounds. It has a toggle switch on the top. It doesn't blink but does turn on steady. It's supposed to blink but there may be a wiring error or an issue with the relay. There is also some rust on the bottom of the battery box but no holes. These are obsolete and acquired legally. She had it mounted on their boat dock and they used it to find their way home. The light has a long industrial electric cord on it and works great(see pics) Light has a great look! They don't make them like this anymore! I have not attempted to clean or polish the brass housing. But with a bit of elbow grease, it would probably shine up. Weighs 24 pounds unboxed. The clear glass rim has a rope design and the bottom has a fabulous starburst sunburst compass pattern. The ceiling canopy has been refinished and has a copper colored metal ships wheel cover attached to a clear pressed glass telescope. The fixture has also been refinished and uses 3 bead chains that hold and suspend the shade. It has been completely rewired with a new porcelain socket and wiring. This light has really nice AGED PATINA and is a GREAT SHOW DISPLAY PIECE. there ARE 5 base bolts with this light. There are no interior parts. The glass shows on only 1/2 side of the light which was probably for a forward facing deck light. I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS WAS FROM A SHIP MAST? There are no makers marks. Very HEAVY about 7 lbs. Fresh out of a local estate is this wonderful Port Nautical Navigational Light. Truly a work of art and VINTAGE. According to the previous owner it came from Vero Beach. FL(but I can't prove that) Made in the US by Andrew Co. Chicago and appears to be 50+ years old. I was not able to find anything about the maker so no real way of dating it. Perfect for a Man Cave/Restaurant or your own channel marker. As you can see by the pictures there is a chunk of glass out of the top(clear part) but turned around you can't tell that. The red glass lamp in the inside is in perfect condition. The clear glass is in the design of light house glass so that it reflects. This is truly a piece of history and a great collectible for the nautical collector. It measures 33" tall and 15" across at the base. Weighs over 50# This was never an oil ... morelamp. Vintage ship light in galvanized metal with green lens. The light is in overall good condition- it has more rust stains than rust. I wiped it down but it is dirty. Especially on the inside. The mirrors on the inside are intact, but dirty. See photo#7. The lens is thick plastic- it has a small chip at the top left(photo#11) To the right of the chip looks like a crack but I couldn't find any fracture. Dimensions: 5" wide x 3" tall(not including handle) The lid handle is approx 2 1/2" long. Lovell& Company in Arlington New Jersey. They are made of brass but at some point were painted. So. They have been sandblasted back to their original condition. All the wires are present. All the frosted glass shades are in great shape. There are some scratches on the ship wheel. But those can be touched up pretty easy if desired. One og the hanging lanterns is missing a twist on fastener for the top of one of the rods that goes from top to bottom. This does not effect the use. All in all this is a great nautical piece. I am selling a large vintage PERKO ship light. As pictured. It stands about 22 inches tall with the handle, about 9.5 inches wide. The globe is very thick glass and it has a few small chips as you often see with the ones that were used, but that does not detract as you can see in the pictures. Overall it is in great condition.
