2 Old Antique Brass Glass & Iron Square Lanterns
Title: 2 Old Antique Brass. Glass& Iron Square Lanterns Description: Presented for your consideration is this matching pair of brass. Glass& iron square lanterns. Both have brass peg legs with a square base that is made of iron. Around the glass of the lantern is a brass frame and the tops of the lanterns are also brass. Glass is on two sides of the lanterns while the other two sides are all iron. Each has a burner and reflector inside, which can be easily accessed through the back which opens on a hinge. Both lanterns have a non-adjustable wooden handle. There is the typical wear and patina from age and the back doors do not close all the way. There is also some oxidation on the burners of each. Otherwise. Both lanterns are in VERY GOOD condition. Each individually measures 4 1/8" in length. 4 3/8" in width and 14" ... morein height. Vintage copper ship light 17 1/2 inches high and 8 inches in diameter. Weighs 15 pounds. Lens is in good shape with no cracks and some bubbles can be seen in lens. Up for your viewing pleasure is this Vintage Antique Aluminum Marine Ship/ Boat Tall Navigation Running 2 lens Light. Aluminum we think. Tried to scratch through the coating and it does NOT seem to be bronze. Yes. patina and silver paint of the past. 13" Bottom flange to the top. 4"5/8" Dia across cap not including the spots of the bolts. 9-S-4326-L Number on lid. Looks to be made of aluminum. Added 4 pictures of the lens. For you to check out. Clear lens looks to be in really good condition. No cracks that we can see. Red lens has a crack in it and no chips just the crack. Picture of it added. Did not unbolt it. Each lens may be about 4"1/4" to 4"3/8" Dia. And about 4"3/16" tall. That is a close estimate of size. Again we did not take it apart. This is a matched pair of antique marine lanterns made by National Marine Lamp Co. I think they were used to signal other ships but this is not my area of expertise. They are wedge shaped with one blue glass lens and the other is red. The glass is very thick and ribbed and in surprisingly wonderful condition. They each are also marked with"Lense Triplex Trade Mark Dec 20 1910" which I believe is referring to the glass lens only. The Red lamp is marked"MFRD by National Marine Lamp Co New York" and the Blue has an oval metal tag on the back that says"Geo. B. Carpenter& Co Chicago" I don't know why there are 2 different marks as the lanterns are otherwise identical aside from the glass color. I am assuming they were painted black by someone at some point but if so it has been a long while. This lamp is from England. The John Scott name was very popular the English maritime days. His name was synonomous with aristocracy. It has no dents or major blemishes. It doesn't have the original chimney or shade Otherwise; it is in very good condition. It has a double wick and two seperate adjusting knobs for each wick. This is a very nice piece for the avid collector.

I have been collecting nautical antiques for over 30 years and have never run across lights like these before. These lights are 12 volt. And I was told that these were either exterior or interior Art Deco lights from an old Yacht, Large Houseboat or a Motor Sailer. These lights mount hanging down and require an old style"J" hook mounting, but I am sure that they can be rigged in other ways. The base is made(I believe) of Cupronickel as it is non-magnet conductive and solid(not plated brass or copper) It has developed some minor pits in areas that only add to the piece(see pictures) The globes are what really set this piece off. They are an Art Deco style made of a solid piece(no seam) and are blast frosted. I have never seen a globe so intricate for this style of application. I originally purchased these to put in my home with the other nautical stuff but have been forced to recently downsize. The following is detailed dimensions on this item. Base. 3" tall, 3 1/2" wide. Globes. 10 1/2" tall, 7 1/4" at its widest. Weight. These lights weigh 2 pounds each. Other info. The Plug. This goes into the external power source and is a Lathed Wood with a solid guide going through with 2 metal(brass/ copper) electrical contacts, SEE PICTURES. The Hanger. This looks to be copper with a metal cross bolt for support. The Light Socket. Is a brass/ copper receptacle with two spring loaded pins that match up to the bottom of a bulb. On the sides of the bulb receptacle are two slots cut into it for bulb alignment with the alignment pins on the base of the bulb. If you have ever seen the old style 1157 automotive tail light bulbs it looks like the 1157 would fit right in. The Wiring. Up for auction is a pair of 2 antique Maritime passageway heavy brass/bronze ship lights with cobalt blue glass globes with sliding doors and a handle for hanging. There are doors that slide on the lamp to open and close the cobalt blue glass globe. The base is all heavy brass/bronze and has a threaded top with moveable handle. On the top of the lamp it has a threaded fitting marked. 9-S-5010-L Type XXII Size B. The threaded top of the light has 9-S-2108-L. There is a gasket with washer and light socket inside, so changing the bulb is very easy. The cobalt blue globe is very heavy, please check pictures and measures 4 ½” diameter x 5” long with rounded bottom. On the rim of the cobalt blue globe it has Type H 2034 L P.G. Co. There are no chips or cracks on the globe. Underneath on the top ring it has 2099-L-3 and on the bottom section ... moreis 2099-L-4. The heavy base contains the sliding door to open and close. These antique maritime items were probably originally used on a yacht and date to about circa 1890-1900. They are both in excellent all original complete condition free of wear through or dents and only in need of a little polishing as I have left just as they were recently found in an old estate. They do not seem to be an exact match although clearly intended as such and made at the same time by the same manufacturer one candle socket has lines on it and one does not and one has a slightly small gimbal than the other with all other details exactly the same as well as the details of the wall brackets. Has patina on the metal, some minor scratches and dings No cracks in the thick glass that I can see. The lantern measures 22-1/2" tall without the handle and 27" tall with handle extended up. Up for bidding are these estate sale finds of 2 Vintage Marine Port and Starboard Ships lanterns. They measure approx 11 1/2" h x 7" w. They have a triangle shape. With great patina one is basically grey and the other one red. The grey one has a blue glass with ridges and the red one has a red glass with ridges. No major dents. They weigh 2 lbs. each. Antique Copper Perko Marine Anchor Lantern 14.5 Inces Tall #2
Old Perko lantern ready for display/use. This piece was wired as a light but I removed the wiring because it was faulty. It can very easily be rewired or I think a candle glowing inside would make this piece. Typical wear for this piece few dents and cracks in copper. The glass is original and has a nick near bottom ridge(pictured) The glass is marked Perko. The very bottom is missing one clip and there is a bees tiny nest in top. i was able to remove most of it but a small piece remains. Measures aprox. 14.5 inches tall. This is a pair of Antique/Vintage brass boat running lights in fresh estate condition. Please see the photos for condition- there are no makers marks that I can see. The glass lenses are a combo of Red and Green glass. One crack can be seen in one of the glass lenses but no glass is missing so could be glued and still display well- some of the metal fin is missing but as it is at the back of the light it will still display well once it is cleaned. Rare find taken from 1965 Allied Seawind Ketch. These are two heavy, antique brass candle lanterns with a spring loaded chamber for standard 6 inch dripless emergency candles. Spring pushes candle up as candle burns. They come with all original solid brass mounting hardware, bevels, smoke bells, and original glass lantern globes, all intact and in very good condition.

Antique Triplex Trade Mark Marine Lanterns Circa 1910 Set Of 2
Here we have a set of 2 Triplex Marine Lanterns. These show a patent date of Dec 20 1910. I'm in no way an expert on these items but will relate what I do know: Each Lantern is identical in size/dimension. Measuring 11" tall by 7" wide. They are made of metal with glass lenses and brass or copper chimneys. The red colored Lantern has a RED Glass Lens The green colored Lantern has a BLUE Glass Lens. These are NON electrified lamps. Both Lanterns are in excellent condition considering their age. Please see my numerous photos in order to judge condition for yourself. I apologize if I'm not a wealth of information on these items. This is a original rendition of an antique whale oil lantern. It was found in a Gloucester Massachusetts estate. It is a most interesting piece. We can only imagine what it was like before electricity changed the world. Darkness fell. And in maritime locations whale oil was the fuel which provided the light. T his item is representative of that time. People simply f illed the"spoon" with slow burning whale oil and hung a fuse off the end and lit it. This slow burning fuel provided light for an extended period. With the hook extended this particular piece measures just over 11" long.
