Presenting a nautical gimbaled compass in its original Mahogany slide top box. Compass was made by Star Compass in Boston MA. Outer gimbal is 3⅝” in diameter. Inner gimbal with the compass is 2⅞” in diameter. The Mahogany finger jointed box is 4½” square and 3½” tall. Bottom of the box has split across it; the top has been broken and repaired at the finger pull. Not sure of the age but the underside of the slide cover has wear spots where the screws on the inner gimbal hit the top when the top is in place. Condition is very good with a working compass. A SET OF ANTIQUE EDWARDIAN BRASS GIMBALED NAUTICAL SHIP LAMPS
A good example of a ships gimbaled lamp from the Edwardian era. The numbers on the base are AP9009 and the makers mark is almost visible. They have been rewired at some point and have a switch in the cord. They are set into a Finished Mahogany base. They could use a good cleaning and have the usual scratches and dings which is not unusual for there age. These are not an exact pair but very close. The lamp shades are included.

Description: This auction is for an original brass Star Pathfinder compass. It is gimbal mounted its original wooden case. All in good working order. The dovetailed case measures 8 1/2" long by 8 1/2" wide by 5 1/4" high. The entire unit weighs 6 lbs 6 oz. I believe the wood is mahogany. The diameter of the compass including the gimbaled outer ring measures 6 3/4" in diameter. The main body of the compass. Not including the outer ring, measures 5 3/4" in diameter. The compass is signed on the brass, Star, Boston, USA" and has the serial number 50029. The dial is signed, Star Pathfinder" and"Milton Mass. There is a large air bubble in the fluid. The leather strap and brass latches all work fine, as does the compass itself. Condition: This is in excellent condition overall with just some minor wear on ... morethe case and strap. There is a nice old patina on the brass with some typical spots of discoloration. There is a single large air bubble in the fluid. This is a very nice piece that has been well taken care of.
