I cannot find any others to compare it to on ebay and there are no markings on the light other than on the socket inside the lamp and on the side as shown are the letters P&O. I am not sure if this was a gas type light or not. Although it has a socket where a bulb or something would have fit but on the side of the light it looks like a flint or sparker. The light will need the chrome trim cleaned.Sorry I am not much help here, please see the pictures and maybe someone out there can tell me more. The works are mounted on a nice piece of oak and there are exposed wires etc on the back. It appears the glass is missing however the clip holder to hold the glass guard in is in the metal hood. The metal hood is hinged and has holes to let the heat escape. The light measures 11" long x 5" wide and weighs unpackaged 3-1/2 pounds.At the top of the light is a knob that can be turned to control the brightness i am guessing. Tried to scratch through the coating and it does NOT seem to be bronze. Yes. patina and silver paint of the past. 13" Bottom flange to the top. 4"5/8" Dia across cap not including the spots of the bolts. 9-S-4326-L Number on lid. Looks to be made of aluminum. Added 4 pictures of the lens. For you to check out. Clear lens looks to be in really good condition. No cracks that we can see. Red lens has a crack in it and no chips just the crack. Picture of it added. Did not unbolt it. Each lens may be about 4"1/4" to 4"3/8" Dia. And about 4"3/16" tall. That is a close estimate of size. Again we did not take it apart. Telford Grier & Mackay Glasgow Ship Lantern 22-1/2" Tall 1915 Antique? O-3-1013
Telford Grier& Mackay 1915 Glasgow Ship Lantern 22-1/2" Tall Antique? I do not know much history on this lantern. Not sure of the exact date, or if it was used on the actual ship. It appears to be from the 1910's, by the inscription that is on the front of the lantern reading: Telford Grier& Mackay Glasgow 1915. There is also an inscription on the back reading Telford Grier& Mackay Glasgow 1916 Physically appears to be in good condition. Has patina on the metal, some minor scratches and dings No cracks in the thick glass that I can see. The lantern measures 22-1/2" tall without the handle and 27" tall with handle extended up. Approximately 10-1/2" from front to back and 15" from side to side at the widest points. Whole thing weighs just over 27 lbs and will weigh around 32 with packing materials. This is a new old stock Frosted Clear Glass Globe Lens that is new in the box. The lens is 5" tall. The base is 6-11/16" diameter, the globe is 5-7/16" diameter x 1/2" thick, and the weight is 3 lbs. This lens was salvaged from the"Endeavor" A Canadian anti-submarine research vessel commissioned in 1965 and decommissioned 10 years ago(see picture) This globe lens was made in 1986 but it is new in it's original box. My first Boat Job was in 1979 on an old wood hull 1943 Army Tug named the M/V Polar Navagator. The vessel was docked in Richmond California. And was undergoing a retrofit for Commercial Fishing for Black Cod via Long Lining. We were in charge of clearing out all of the brass heating pipes and all the left over items on board that did not meet the requirements of the owners. THIS is one of those items. This is a Vintage"C.B. INC. TYPE H 2034-L" on the rim of the globe) Red Glass Marine Light Globe. This was a standard issue for a vessel of this type during war times to minimize observation of this vessel while under way. I have had this for a very long time. Antique Copper Perko Marine Anchor Lantern 14.5 Inces Tall #2
Old Perko lantern ready for display/use. This piece was wired as a light but I removed the wiring because it was faulty. It can very easily be rewired or I think a candle glowing inside would make this piece. Typical wear for this piece few dents and cracks in copper. The glass is original and has a nick near bottom ridge(pictured) The glass is marked Perko. The very bottom is missing one clip and there is a bees tiny nest in top. i was able to remove most of it but a small piece remains. Measures aprox. 14.5 inches tall. This does not include the handle. I will have another Perko lantern and other great nautical pieces and more listed.
