Piling, master head, anchor, or dock lantern/ ... morelight. I am not sure of the proper name or use for this lantern. Can you inform me? It measures 17 ½” tall. The bottom is 8” in diameter, the top is 7 ½” in diameter, the lens is 4 ¾” tall(the exposed portion) and the lens is approx 5” in diameter. The lens is a dark ruby red and I see no cracks or chips. The body is galvanized metal with the rings. Latching hardware and the top ring of bottom portion being made of brass. There is a makers mark on the inside but some is missing and I cannot tell by what I can read who the maker is. Do you know? I assume that it was battery operated but there is no battery or wiring that is visible. I did not take the top portion apart and do not know if there is a bulb inside. The one photo that shows the lens bright was held up to the sun. The lantern is in good overall condition with some oxidation and rust as shown. The rubber gasket and other rubber pieces are inside but in poor condition(see photos) Please look at the photos carefully to see what is included. The lantern/ lamp is untested. Solid Brass Neptune NR Oil Burning Ships Lantern
This Solid Brass Ships Lantern was purchased by us from LL Bean in the early 1980's and is of the highest quality construction. The solid brass has great weld joints and copper rivet construction. The entire inner glass chimney portion is easily removed by two brass handles for fueling and cleaning. The lantern has been used several times and has some black smoke on the glass chimney. Still has 6" to 7" of cotton wick left in fuel pot. Other wise it is in perfect condition and could be passed on for generations. This could be polished to a high shine but I have preferred the acquired patina. The lantern measures approx. 15" X 8" and weighs approx. 6 lbs. Rare Port & Starboard Ships Pilot House Oil Burning Lamps All Original Paint
Well. I have a matching pair of un-retouched antique Port and Starboard"Pilot House" or"Wheel House" Oil Lamps in wonderful condition considering age and time at sea. I did find these in Stonington CT where there is. And was a fishing fleet that used these. All the old small single handed Dragger's used them before becoming electric( They were mounted to the port and starboard side by way of slip brackets enabling them to removed and then replaced without the use of any tools. Both burners work(as seen in photos) Red and Green paint is original. Glass Lenses are crack free but do have a chip here and therefrom usage. Look at pics) 10" tall x 7" wide.

Very unusual pair of vintage brass maritime lanterns with beautiful patina. These lanterns are in very good shape with oil lamps intact and operable. I have tested the wick adjustment and they both work as intended. They measure App. 6" x 6" x 15 1/2" in height. I have provided several images for your viewing and they should be considered part of the description. I was told these were made around 1920's or 30's and it is very unusual to find a matching pair. One lantern handle is missing a brass screw and both lantern tops have minor bends in the sheet metal mentioned for accuracy only. It really does not take from them at all. Glass on both is also intact and unbroken. I provided an image with the lanterns lit with tea lights to show the charm they have when lit. This is a very attractive pair of ship's running lights. Made of galvanized metal. Nice patina. They are not a matching pair but they are pretty well matched as they are of identical style and dimension. The Port light has a badge with the inscription"British Manufacture" Both have slide out oil burners with respective wicks and glass tubes, the wick adjusters are working normally. The Starboard blue-green glass is cracked but is firmly set and not at all loose(see photo) Measurements: 11 1/2" tall(without handle) x 6"wide x 6"wide. RARE 1900'S ANTIQUE NAUTICAL- BOAT SIGNAL LANTERN - BRASS - ZINC- OIL BURNING
For your bidding is a Rare P and A Mfg. Antique Nautical Boat Signal Lantern with Brass Oil Burner. Font Lighting Popular in the 1900's to communicate to other ships. Or ship to shore before Marconi was invented and used. This beautiful lamp was given to me by my Aunt when I was a child. Both my Aunt and Uncle were avid collectors of memorabilia from Great Lakes Ships and Freighters. Often they would buy the inside remains of a ship when it was to be scrapped. Removing steering wheels. Telegraphs, chad burns, lanterns, name plates, ship wheels, compasses, steam whistles, you name it. Anything that had value to be saved later and become collectible. I have no doubt this piece came off a ship. I just do not know which one. This is a beautiful piece. Which I feel is museum quality, and should belong to a serious collector. That is why I'am ... morelisting it. It is in Very Good condition for its age. Era and vintage. There is some slight wear which is understandable for a piece this old. I have not polished the Brass in years. There are no dents. Or dings on the piece, a few minor spots of rust, on the inside signal shutter, behind the lens, which I'm sure would clean up with little effort. The 3" glass lens is flawless, with no scratches, cracks, or chips. The door opens. And closes as does the spring signal shutter. The belt clip is complete, along with the two adjustable carrying handles. Inside you will find the original burner. And wick. The top unscrews to fill it with lamp oil and it is adjustable for brightness. This does have Boat Signal Lantern stamped above the hinged door. Perko is NOT the only company who made these lanterns. The only markings on this one are on the burner wick adjustment which says P and A Mfg. Waterbury Conn, Usa. Which stands for Plume and Atwood Manufacturing. The company was established in 1869.
