This is a GB INC replacement glass lense we found at an estate sale. Height is 4 inch tall and 4+7/16 inch wide edge to edge. It has some flea bites on the edge but the ring should cover them. VINTAGE GB INC RED GLASS GLOBE WW II Salvage BOAT LAMP LIGHT 5" TALL x 4-1/2"
My first Boat Job was in 1979 on an old wood hull 1943 Army Tug named the M/V Polar Navagator. The vessel was docked in Richmond California. And was undergoing a retrofit for Commercial Fishing for Black Cod via Long Lining. We were in charge of clearing out all of the brass heating pipes and all the left over items on board that did not meet the requirements of the owners. THIS is one of those items. This is a Vintage"C.B. INC. TYPE H 2034-L" on the rim of the globe) Red Glass Marine Light Globe. This was a standard issue for a vessel of this type during war times to minimize observation of this vessel while under way. I have had this for a very long time. But now it's time to pass it on for somebody elses enjoyment. As an assistant engineer on this vessel in 1979, I will be glad to provide a letter of provenance to substantiate ... moreits history. This is a vintage Frosted Clear Glass Globe/Lens made by GB INC. In excellent condition. Here are the dimensions: Overall height: 5" tall Body diameter: 3-7/8" Flange diameter: 4-1/2" Flange thickness: 5/16" Weight: 1 lb. This globe/lens was salvaged from the"Endeavor" A Canadian anti-submarine research vessel commissioned in 1965 and decommissioned 10 years ago(see picture) We also have this same lens in RED glass.please let us know if you prefer the frosted clear or the red glass. Antique/vintage GB Inc RED glass lantern lamp glass lens. Marked GB Inc. and model# 9-S-4072-L-8 on one end. Inside diameter of opening at this end is 4 5/8" Inside diameter of other end just slightly smaller- approx 4 3/8" Glass is heavy and thick. With a lens weight of approx 3 pounds, 5 ounces. Three notable chips in lens- pics taken to accentuate and highlight these blems- see pics#4.5,6#1- rim chip on marked end#2- between bottom two rings#3- third ring up from bottom Please refer to our several pics for further evidence of condition and email with questions. GB Inc. Type H-1, 2034L" and on the red domes, the name is GTG Co. The cast metal dome cage reads, 9-S-4594-L" and the cast metal wall mount reads, 5333-L-14" The entire fixture stands 8 1/2" tall and 6" wide. The cage diameter is 5 1/8" and the dome is 6" tall.
