Solid Brass Neptune NR Oil Burning Ships Lantern
This Solid Brass Ships Lantern was purchased by us from LL Bean in the early 1980's and is of the highest quality construction. The solid brass has great weld joints and copper rivet construction. The entire inner glass chimney portion is easily removed by two brass handles for fueling and cleaning. The lantern has been used several times and has some black smoke on the glass chimney. Still has 6" to 7" of cotton wick left in fuel pot. Other wise it is in perfect condition and could be passed on for generations. This could be polished to a high shine but I have preferred the acquired patina. The lantern measures approx. 15" X 8" and weighs approx. 6 lbs. Pair Vintage Copper Brass NEPTUNE NR Ship Lantern Lamp Nautical Maritime Cage NR
This auction is for a pair of vintage NEPTUNE NR copper and brass ship oil lamp lanterns. These lamps are in EXCELLENT estate found condition with a stunning and even patina. They are beautifully crafted from copper and brass and secured with a chain and hook in the front. These lanterns both have a badge at the top with the Neptune hallmark and NR. All of the glass is in beautiful condition(with the exception of some dust from being displayed) The globe inside is also in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The oil lamp inside is secured to a metal wire that stays in place by sliding down two opposing corners inside. And sits very securely inside with no wobble. I do not know the age of the lanterns, and have seen only a few similar, but most of then have all brass cages(die to the reddish tint I do believe this is mostly copper) ... moreor have been polished. None have been found also with this exact badge in the same place and this stunning copper patina with the reddish copper undertones that almost glow through. This has not been cleaned or polished, but I'm sure would polish up nicely if the buyer wishes to do so. Each lantern stands 15"high without handle, and 17 1/2" tall with handle, by approx 7"wide. Those would truly make an excellent display piece or addition to any collection. Please see pictures for more details and feel free to ask questions. But I was unsure of how to remove the globe from the oil lamp, and was very careful not to damage it, so I had not even cleaned it. But i just figured out how to remove the globe, and the base of one did not have any major chips or cracks, but the base of the other does have a chip about 1/8" high that leads into a thin crack that goes up about 1 1/2" and curls under. ANTIQUE NEPTUNE NR BRASS NAUTICAL MARITIME SHIPS CARGO KEROSENE/OIL LANTERN
Up for auction is an awesome antique Neptune Brass Oil Lantern. This is a"ship" or"maritime" lantern. It measures approximately 15" tall(not including handle) and 6.5" square(not including fittings/external bars) The lid is closed by a latch and clip. Open this to expose the inner chimney. Which can be easily removed by pulling up on the two brass handles in opposing corners. The chimney is in like new condition and the wick raiser works like a dream. There are four outer glass panes that easily slide in and out for cleaning. They are crystal clear and in very good condition with no visible chips. The rivets on this lantern are copper. This is a very high quality lamp in excellent condition. I chose not to polish the brass/copper because some people like the"vintage" look.
