Port Lantern has"FIRMA P.J. ENDENBURG GOUDA ZEILMAKERIJ"on the name plate. Painted green but the paint is old and worn. Lantern has a few dents. It's a little heavy so the shipping is a little more. Vintage National Marine Company combination bow lantern. We are very pleased to be able to offer for your consideration this wonderful piece of vintage maritime/nautical hardware. This early style kerosene burner combination navigation light with Fresnel lenses made by the National Marine Lamp Co. of New York. This lamp was made prior to 1912 since after that date National Maritime were marked with a patent date of 1912 or used the trade name“Triplex” This is an early example since the company was founded in 1906. This lamp is most suitable for someone seeking this shielded design of which only a few have survived. It has a great deal of character and a wonderfully warm patina. THE MAKER: National Marine Lamp Co. According to Anthony Hobson's Lanterns that Lit our World, Book 2 was started in 1906 operating from Pear St. in New York City. ... moreIt brought the burner shop Bristol Brass in Forestville, CT in 1911. National Marine bought from Bristol Brass, so similarities in the products are to be expected. Later National Marine absorbed a company called American Lamp and Brass, according to Hobson, but the"American" name died with the acquisition. Fredrick Perkins became president of National in 1913. Frederick and his son Louis left that company in 1916 and moved back to Brooklyn, New York where they started Perkins Marine Lamp Corporation so there is a lot of lamp history in this early lamp. This lantern measures approximately 11 inches wide. 10 inches tall, and 8 1/2 inches front to back. This lantern weighs approximately 4.75 pounds Condition- This awesome combination bow lantern is in very nice condition. It has developed a wonderful patina over the years, but could be polished to a high shine if desired. Pair Vintage Copper Brass NEPTUNE NR Ship Lantern Lamp Nautical Maritime Cage NR
This auction is for a pair of vintage NEPTUNE NR copper and brass ship oil lamp lanterns. These lamps are in EXCELLENT estate found condition with a stunning and even patina. They are beautifully crafted from copper and brass and secured with a chain and hook in the front. These lanterns both have a badge at the top with the Neptune hallmark and NR. All of the glass is in beautiful condition(with the exception of some dust from being displayed) The globe inside is also in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The oil lamp inside is secured to a metal wire that stays in place by sliding down two opposing corners inside. And sits very securely inside with no wobble. I do not know the age of the lanterns, and have seen only a few similar, but most of then have all brass cages(die to the reddish tint I do believe this is mostly copper) ... moreor have been polished. None have been found also with this exact badge in the same place and this stunning copper patina with the reddish copper undertones that almost glow through. This has not been cleaned or polished, but I'm sure would polish up nicely if the buyer wishes to do so. Each lantern stands 15"high without handle, and 17 1/2" tall with handle, by approx 7"wide. RARE Vintage Lantern Light Buoy Piling Ship Anchor Dock Nautical Galv. Brass
Up for auction today is vintage nautical lantern. Different people call these types by such names as; buoy. Piling, master head, anchor, or dock lantern/ light. I am not sure of the proper name or use for this lantern. Can you inform me? It measures 17 ½” tall. The bottom is 8” in diameter, the top is 7 ½” in diameter, the lens is 4 ¾” tall(the exposed portion) and the lens is approx 5” in diameter. The lens is a dark ruby red and I see no cracks or chips. The body is galvanized metal with the rings. Latching hardware and the top ring of bottom portion being made of brass. There is a makers mark on the inside but some is missing and I cannot tell by what I can read who the maker is. Do you know? This lantern was produced by Ahlemann& Schlatter. This company was founded in 1868. And was a pioneer in the nautical lighting industry fulfilling the higher technical demands of the time. They used innovations to further develop lighting technology and for over one hundred years. Ahlemann& Schlatter's products accompanied ships throughout the world. Bremen is a city in Northwestern Germany; a commercial and industrial city with a major port on the River Weser. Metallwarenfabrik is a German term for metal fabrication shop. This was purchased in 1960s/ 70s in Colonial Williamsburg and is candle based. The lantern measures 11" tall/12 1/2" with handle standing. The base is 4" square and the outside guards take the width to 5 1/2" It is in great vintage condition; the brass has some wonderful patina and minor marks. While it was purchased at Colonial Williamsburg. There are no marks, there does seem to be remnants of a label on the top rim- we cannot make out if this indicated Colonial Williamsburg, the manufacturer, or the pricing details. This was originally on the Francis Scott Key Bridge over the Patapsco River near Baltimore's Fort McHenry leading into the Port of Baltimore. The bridge is approximately a mile from the fort where Francis Scott Key wrote our National Anthem during the War of 1812. It was from a local contractor that replaced the lamps on the Key Bridge. This is a nice old brass ship's oil lantern. Each side has glass. With an X in brass on the outside. The top is hinged and is held shut by a large screw. One of a kind and will make an AWESOME addition to any nautical theme, cabin, cottage, home, boat decor themes etc. It is a hanging light- Light lantern stands 18 inches tall, hanging chain is also approx. 18 inches. This is a vintage Anchor galvanized light painted yellow with heavy, thick glass. 1970's. Has not been tested since being taken down, but was working last time it was hooked up, you are buying as is! The Lamps are Not a Exact Match but they are almost Identical in Size. Each Light measures 13" high x 11" wide x 10" deep approx. The Top Lid on Each Light is Solid Brass. The Body of Each Light is Heavy Steel Metal. On One of the Lights Brass Lid does Not Screw down all the Way. It is marked Staten Island. NY. Vintage Bronze Tung Woo Hong Kong EK1390 PORT Ship Lantern Lamp Nautical
Vintage Tung Woo PORT Lantern I recovered this Tung Woo port-side lantern from a sunken pipe barge while working off the coast of Borneo in the South China Sea in 1971. From it’s configuration it appears to have always been an electric lantern. I used it with a small battery light for a little evening ambiance on the deck table. So no heat damage from using it with candles. From the number of mounting holes(see last photo) it had a long service use history before I salvaged it. My guess is early post WWII. It has a heavy clear glass lens with an internal removable curved glass red filter. It’s got dents. Dimples and a wonky corner, decades of stains from living outside but no gouges or deep scratches. A brass"MASTHEAD" plaque surmounts the hood of this VINTAGE NAUTICAL LANTERN. It stands 14-1/2 inches tall. Not including handle. Features CURVED GLASS LENS and curved metal reflector plate, Sturdy brass mounting brackets on back- presumably for affixing to the mast of a sailing ship. Constructed of brass, glass, and brass plating over- judging from the tarnish- probably copper? This is most likely an older decorative reproduction. It's rendition is very faithful. And lantern is functional. The base unscrews to take a CANDLE- either one with a wide base, or a taper inserted into your own socket(no disrespect intended) OR. Here is a Large 8 inch tall RED LENSE REAL GLASS marked Corning on glass Nautical SHIP. DOCK, or PIER Nautical Light. This 8 inch tall lamp has a 3 1/2 inch tall RED glass bezile lense, There are only a couple of specs on the glass that appears to be in very good condition NO CRACKS. The base is 6 inches across and the light is very heavy duty. Not sure if it is military as it appears to be somewhat grey in coloring. There is a number 9-S 4473-L in raised lettering on top. There is a 64 inch heavy duty cord with some type of plug in socket end see photo 5. Not sure if from a ship, dock or pier. Not sure if it works or what type of power supply it used. Suppose it could be rewired. REALLY NICE CONDITION VINTAGE NAUTICAL PIECE. Not sure if it could have been from the RAILROAD? This lantern is approximately 5.5" x 5.5" x 14.5" and weighs almost 6 lbs. All glass in intact with no cracks. It has a wedge burner. I have not tried to use it.
