The wide end with the glass measures 17 1/2 inches wide with the glass being right at 15 inches wide. The top mounting pipe we have installed is 10 inches long. You can make this light shorter by changing out this pipe with a shorter piece. Or you can make the light hang further down by adding a longer pipe. This pipe is common 1/2 inch black iron pipe you can buy at most hardware stores pre-threaded. We have used a hammered gold paint to give this iron pipe a matching brass look. The ceiling mount is 3 1/8 inches wide with four mount holes. This light has been re-wired with all new UL-Listed parts made by Westinghouse Electric. Our newly installed lighting hardware is rated for any voltage under 250 volts, so normal house power is not an issue. The new bulb holder takes a normal screw in house bulb with a wattage of less than 150 watts. Since the inside housing has very little space restrictions, you can even use the newer compact fluorescent bulbs, or a spot light with a common screw in base. Our wiring exits the center hole of the ceiling mount and we provide about 30 inches of extra wiring. When we find these lights. They are painted. We have removed the paint and polished the copper and brass. We do not try to polish our lights to the point they look new, so some buyers may spend some additional time doing additional polish work to get the light to your desired finish. Most people we have talked to hang our lights of this design with no additional polishing. The 8 closure nuts on the glass end of the light have been cleaned and oiled so they spin on and off with just a little effort. The glass on this light has some surface scratches. And the base measures 2 1/8" wide. There are 2 small dents in the top dome, which can be popped out should you decide to do so(I will leave that up to the successful bidder) The burner has a wick and the wick turner works most of the time(a couple of times when I tried it it did not work but that may be due to the wick being so old. This Vintage Brass Marine Lantern is marked English Made on the wick adjuster. It measures 16 1/2 by 7 3/4 inches. It is hand crafted with rivets and solder. The work shows very good quality. It is in very good condtion with a couple of very small hard to find dents. The top and the globe unscrew to fill the tank. They are stuck with old fuel varnish and I do not intend to forcefully remove them. The wick moves up and down when the wheel is turned. The glass plates and globe are very good. These lights measure about 9 1/2 inches tall and not counting the wall mount they are about 4 inches wide. When mounted to the wall. They will extend out from the wall by about 7 inches. The wall mount has two mount holes and will require a mounting surface that is about 3 inches wide and about 1/2 inches tall. Originally the power source for these lights came ... morefrom two conduits that connected into the back side of the light. We installed two copper caps in the original conduit holes and added the 90 degree elbow and short brass pipe on the top. The elbow and the brass pipe we added allows all the wiring to be 100% hidden from sight. You can install a plate cover over your existing junction box and drill a hole that will allow the conduit pipe to enter your junction box. Next step is to screw the light to your cover plate and you are done. Also, the new pipe we installed can be cut flush with the wall mount, and the light can be installed right to the wall with no junction box. If you want the pipe cut, just tell us and will cut it flush before the lights are shipped. The globes are glass and in good condition. Each light weighs almost 3/12 pounds. You can access the bulb area by unscrewing the cage and then unscrewing the glass globe. The glass is undamaged, but could use some additional cleaning. The cage and the glass globe drops right out. It was wired for ship use as it has a ground wire as well? it has a very thick red glass with a few chips& cracks from use& age. nothing that compromises it's usage or condition. it weighs 11 pounds& is 10" x 6" the light itself has been tested& works. it has not been cleaned or polished by us, although it looks like someone took scouring pad or steel wool to some areas, none of which has caused any permanent or bad damage, but you can see these areas in pictures. the one crack we found is only on the inside of glass& can only be seen when held up to light& spun til found. Lamp is easy to take apart. Easy to install bulb. Glass was recently cleaned with dish soap and water although there is still some sticker like residue on it in a few areas. When lit the glass glows red but when off the glass has a darkish tint almost purple in color which hints to very old glass. Glass globe is ... morenot perfect but there are no fractures or major cracks; glass does have a few chips, largest one is pictured and there are two other minor ones plus some small nicks, scratches and marks along with heavy oxidation which is causing the purple tint. Plastic grommet was install on the top with a few layers of electrical tape around it to help keep it snug in the brass although I would not recommend hanging the light from the cord alone.
