This is a great Perkins"PERKO" Marine lantern or bow light. The lantern is about 18" tall counting the handle. The lens is heavy red glass and can be seen from all sides(360 degrees) The lantern works off of oil or kerosene. The reservoir and wick are in tack and working. The Perkins metal tag is still in place(too dark to get into photo) There are some small nicks and I can see what looks like brass under the black paint. I believe the paint is original to the lantern. The lantern is heavy. Over 7 pounds. Lanterns like this were used on large ships as a warning light or bow light. Features thick clear glass Fresnel lens there are two visile small cracks that are pointed out in the photos. The body is galvanized metal with brass chimney caps and bail handle. They retain its original snap-in wedge burner that are fitted into the bottom of the light. The two clips are intact and operable. Made with what I think is an all brass canister wrapped with a galvanized cover. No rust! This was a very well made lantern and will last forever. Tested with nine volt battery and works! Vtg Perkins PERKO Marine Boat Lamp Starboard Bow Green Red Glass Light Lantern
This listing is for a vintage Perkins PERKO Marine boat Kerosene Lamp. Finding one in better condition than this one will be a challenge. The lamp is made of Galvanized metal and has a Brass Top/Finial and the Kerosene lights hardware is made of Brass. The Dark Green and red lens are made of Glass and are chip and damage free. The design of this lamp is different than most others. The inside hardware is accessible from the bottom of the lamp only. It has ingenious spring loaded tabs of each side. If you want to pull out the hardware you simply squeeze the tabs and pull the hardware out. As you can see from the photo's the Brass hardware is in excellent condition and includes what is probably the original wick.I think this lamp has spent most of it's life indoors. The outside Galvanized Metal is also in excellent condition. Nothing ... moreis loose. All corners etc very tight construction. The top finial piece with hanging loop is made of Brass. I did not clean this. Left the original patina. I did however clean the Brass Perkins/ Perko identification tag because I could not read what it says. It is made out of brass and has one side with green ribbed glass and the other side with red ribbed glass. There is also a divider made of brass that separates the two colors from view of passing ships on the high seas(sometimes seen missing or damaged on other lights) The brass has a nice patina from many decades of life. There is a decent size dent on the slightly-domed top(please see photos) The side of the light is marked with Perko's logo and company info. Being made in Brooklyn,NY. My guess as to age would be from around the 1930s or 40s. It could be even earlier-back into the 20s or so- but I'm not certain. The glass is in good condition. With no major breaks, cracks or scratches. ... morethere is normal wear consistent with age on both red and green glass(in the center particularly- please see photo) Also. Each of the red and green also have a very small chip in one of the thin ribs that runs laterally across the glass. The diameter measures 3/8 inches. The diameter of the glass ball lens measures 1 1/2 inches. The glass has no cracks or chips. There is a bulb inside that has not been tested. I have not taken it a part. The original cloth cover wire extends from the bottom. There is no damage to the brass pole. I do not know exactly what this came off. Very nice as found unrestored antique. From a fresh water location. Appears unmolested. I see no chips in the glass. The glass has a sealer of some type maybe caulking. The chrome has some pitting but would probably polish up pretty nicely. I have not tried to remove the bulb socket- it looks like it needs a good cleaning. You are buying AS IS. This one has holes for a flag(approx. 5 1/2" gap) There is a transom light with wear that did light 12V. There is a chrome plated brass gas cap with chain(1 3/4" across at threads) Last are 4 flag holders with different angles and hole sizes. One is marked Perko. It is a flush angle mount that someone drilled drain holes in the base. The hole size is just under 1 1/4" The other is a straight flush mount with a 1" hole. The straight outside hole is approx. 1" and the angled outside holder is also approx. 1" Most items will need re-chroming for actual use. Buyer pays actual shipping by weight(5 lbs. and location.

Vintage Copper PERKO Nautical Ship Lantern Electrical Marine Light Gulf Oil
This 16 1/4" tall electric lantern with an all original patina and toggle switch is from the estate of Howard Craven. He was a ship captain for the Gulf Oil Company until he retired in the early 1950's. When he then took up painting ships with oil on canvas. His father was also a ship captain, so I'm not sure which one used this lantern. It is all copper than I can see. It would be beautiful polished up, but I chose to leave it as is for those of you that would prefer it in it's original condition. It has what looks like original inner parts, wires, etc. see pictures) I have not tested to see if it works. I prefer not to challenge things like this since I know nothing of how they work. The inside looks well used. This and many other nautical pieces I will be listing over the next few weeks have been stored away in a smoke-free, ... morepet-free environment for more than two decades. Pat. 1890 Tarnished Brass Marine Oil Lamp Lantern Light, much rarer than Perko
Beautiful darkly tarnished 10" tall brass marine lantern with no stress cracks. See 360 degree images. Heavy glass globe is damage free and has 3/4" dimple cast in it as some sort of focusing device{see image with flame} Spring clips that retain the oil font have 1890 patent dates on them. Good working burner uniquely flips up for refilling. Bottom of font is dented and has a large solder repair on in but does not leak and rest correctly in lantern base. Beautiful display piece or rare design with a great patina. Quite heavy.

2- Vintage copper Perko Perkins Marine Barge Lamp Nautical Light Lanterns. Lanterns have clear glass and measure just over 13 inches from the bottom to the top of the handles. They are about 9 1/2 inches to the outside of each bracket mounted on the side of the lights. It looks like the screws in the handle on one of the lights has been replaced with new brass screws. The clear glass does have some small flea bites chips you can feel if you rub your finger around each edge of the rippled glass. It only appears that the lids or tops are copper or brass. Comes with free shipping. We were told these were used in a boat used to push barges up and down the Mississippi River. If you have any questions please ask and we will get back with you.

I don't know anything about these as they were found in an estate clean out. I was told they are Perko lamps but found no markings- please do your own homework. Both look to have been rewired based on the 12v sticker inside. Now they have 110v wiring, one is missing a plug. Look to be made out of brass and galvanized, and the exterior of the galvanized is painted a flat black. Both lenses appear to be in great shape and are stamped'Perkins C/L 3 Side' and'FIC259 Mould No 3' They are approx 12" x 6" x 6" each and weigh about 3 3/4 lbs each. There is only one mounting bracket, but you can be make another quite easily. Please ask any questions you might have. We are selling a Maritime Ship Light. The plate reads Perko manufacturers Perkins Marine Lamp& Hardware Corp Miami Florida. We had this on display and have moved to a much smaller home and just don't have the room for them anymore. They make a great display and conservation piece. These measure approximately 9 1/2 inches x 8 inches x 12 inches high. This light is yellow/amber in color. We were told that they used this type of light for side markers and towing lights. The gentleman we bought these from is a member of the Corps of Engineers and gave us this information about the light. They are off of a riverboat that was over 100 years old and its home was on the Cumberland River. They scuttled the boat in the 90's to make it a home for fish(a fishing reef) He saved them for himself prior and used them as display. The lenses look to be in wonderful condition with no cracks and some very small chips but hardly noticeable. The lenses look to be made of some sort of plastic.
