Antique 1800s Nautical Post Lantern Lighthouse Lamp Ship Mast Anchor Light Brass
Description: This is a large antique"birdcage" type oil lantern that was made between 1860 and 1890. It has a period Fresnel lens globe that is in good condition with a bit of chipping around the rim. But no cracks or structural damage. These brass lamps were re-produced by Perkins Marine Lamp Corporation but this one is an original 1800s light as shown by the beautifully decorated hanging ring at the top, careful handmade construction, etc. This one is also extra special in that it has the post fittings for use in a light house- it is missing the brass plate which would have marked it as such, but you can see where it used to be attached. These antique nautical lamps were used extensively for anchor lights, and after its life in a lighthouse it may have been used at the top of the mast during heavy fog or in the night to keep other ... moreships from running into the boat. It is missing the burner and bottom plate- it may have been wired for electric after the use of whale oil lamps declined, but please note that only what is in the pictures is included. This is a large nautical lantern measuring 14" tall and 6" wide. It is in"as found" condition with a dark patina on the brass, dirty glass, small dents, tiny cracks in the brass, and various other age/use related marks. I have up for sale a rare vintage original circa late 1800s to early 1900s Marine Division ARTISTIC BRASS& BRONZE WKS NY ship oil lamp lantern complete with original hanging bracket. The lamp is complete with the inside oil lamp with original chimney and reflector. The lamp stands approx 18-3/4" to the top handle and approx 16-1/2" to the top of the lamps upper section. It weighs approx 9 1/2 lbs and the bracket approx 3 lbs +. It is in Good as found original condition- normal general wear but no real issues. Some light surface rust that will clean off. Here is a HUGE DRESSEL Lantern marked MOHAWK LAMP NEW YORK STATE CANALS. This lantern is marked on top DRESSEL ARLINGTON NJ. USA. This old Beauty is 17 1/2 inches tall from bottom to top an 22 1/2 tall to the top of the hanging handle. It should be noted this IS AN OLD RELIC AND SOMEONE SHOULD NOT EXPECT PERFECTION. There is some staining the glass FRESNEL IS 8 INCHES ACROSS CLEAR GLASS AND 7 INCHES TALL AND IS MARKED CORNING. There is a crack in the FRESNEL photo 5 and some chips in the glass from years of use. NOTE THE GLASS IS INTACT AND NOT LOOSE. The turn screws are tight but work and the top comes off. The base is 10 inches across and 3 inches high. Brass Masthead Electric Lantern 14" Nautical Decor Lamp
This heavy and solid brass Masthead lantern is well suited for the boat house. Houseboat, lake house or beach condo. It would look great on the back deck or patio or the perfect complement to any nautical themed room. I found this at an Estate Sale and it was in pitiful shape. Covered in layers of dust and spilled paint and it was heavily tarnished. I have no idea how old it is but judging by the condition in which I found it, I would venture to guess that it is at least several decades old. I completely disassembled and spent over eight hours hand polishing it completely and thoroughly. Every nook and cranny. It is immaculate. I could hardly believe how well it turned out. I converted it to an electric lantern with a 12' cord with an inline switch. If you don't like the light bulb look you can easily remove the light socket and replace ... moreit with a candle or you can buy the lantern oil canister and wick and use it as an oil burning lamp. I think the electric is much cleaner. It is pictured illuminated with a 40W bulb. The silvered brass reflector really puts out the light, this would be best used with a dimmer switch or maybe even a 25W bulb. It is an impressive 14" tall without the handle and 6" wide. Heavy duty cast brass mounting hardware on the back. There are three very small pits in the finish in one small area. As seen in the close up picture. You are bidding on this nice Vintage Marine Lantern that has been converted into a hanging outdoor light. Possibly Triplex but no marking. Appears to be brass, I have not polished or scratch tested. The electric cord needs to be replaced. No cracks or chips in the lens, no dents and cage is complete and intact. Bottom is open for light. There are a couple of paint drips on it, see photos. Measures 14 1/2" tall x 5 1/2" wide at bottom. This is beautiful nautical décor. Can be used after replacement of electrical cord and socket. NO RESERVE!

This stunning old lantern belonged to my parents. And has been in my family for as long as I can remember. I do not know the exact age or the original function. The high level of craftsmanship in this lantern is amazing. It appears to be of solid brass with a wooden handle attached at the top. The only place that a magnet will stick to the metal is on the fitting that holds the wick. There are two rectangular glass windows. The hinged door is opened by pulling up on a slide loop. There are two round silver metal reflectors on the inside walls of the lantern. The footed base has a bolt and nut for attaching the lantern to a surface. The Round knob that adjusts the wick is marked Dressel and the number 0. I believe that this stands for the Dressel Lamp Works of Arlington New Jersey. The lantern appears to be made of mostly brass with the exception of the reflector piece. Glass and the heat distributor in the top. There is no makers mark on the piece that I can ascertain. The makers mark was probably on the bottom of the burner that is no longer with the lantern. A couple of the solder joints for the cage across the glass are no longer in place. PAIR BRASS HANGING SHIPS LANTERN LIGHT LAMP EARLY ELECTRIC BIG AND HEAVY BOAT
ok here today we have 2 early electric large heavy brass ships lanterns. please I am not an expert on maritime so if i make any errors let me know. these stand 14 inches to the top of the handle and almost 11 inches when the handle is down. the diameter of the base is 7 1/4 and the height of the actual glass globe inside is 5 3/4 inches and the diameter of the globe is 4 inches the op cap is held on with 4 thumb screws most of which are good. a couple have some thread loss and do not grip well. one lantern has an additional screw on piece on the top of the cap to accept the electric line. the bottom has a hinged cover with glass insert. unknown if it is original. each lantern has a small hinge on the bottom so you can open and close the hatch to change bulbs. one hinge is missing 1 screw.the othe issue is the handle is broken off on 1 lantern ... morebut i do have it and it can be welded back on. please look at the photos and ask me questions.if you need a specific photo of any part let me know. I did show photos of the broken off handle the mechanism still functions just need to reattach the handle. the shade is 2 part mold glass clear and free of any damage.there are no markings that would help me identify the manufacturer or ship. they will be shipped separately and the total shipping is 45 dollars' No international sales, I go to great lengths to call all issues even some that really are not,so that we are all on the same page when looking at these lanterns

Anchor Ships Lantern(Not a Reproduction) This is a very large antique ships lantern marked as"Anchor" To the best of my knowledge it has all parts needed to burn oil. Please view pictures to augment my description. It is not electrified and it is NOT a reproduction. Lamp measures a stately 23" to top of handle. 18" tall without handle and at its widest a 10" diameter. With the exception of a dent in the brass at the base the lantern is in excellent condition. Lantern inner chimney has a couple of chips and a crack at the bottom where it sits in base. This can be easily replace but I beleive that this one is original so I will not replace. Here is a D.H.R. Dean Haan of Rotterdam. The lantern is brass. Not polished, has patina. On the bottom is the makers mark, Made in Holland. On either side it is embossed with a windmill. The lantern stands about 11" and 5 1/4" wide. On the back is a key hole notch for hanging. The wick is still intact and the turn knob works. The glass chimney is about 10 1/4" tall and the base is 2" wide. On the chimney is written cristal Prima. There are some spots of tarnish and a small scuff in the front. Otherwise, in good condition. Vintage Bronze Tung Woo Hong Kong EK1390 PORT Ship Lantern Lamp Nautical
Vintage Tung Woo PORT Lantern I recovered this Tung Woo port-side lantern from a sunken pipe barge while working off the coast of Borneo in the South China Sea in 1971. From it’s configuration it appears to have always been an electric lantern. I used it with a small battery light for a little evening ambiance on the deck table. So no heat damage from using it with candles. From the number of mounting holes(see last photo) it had a long service use history before I salvaged it. My guess is early post WWII. It has a heavy clear glass lens with an internal removable curved glass red filter. It’s got dents. Dimples and a wonky corner, decades of stains from living outside but no gouges or deep scratches. A brass"MASTHEAD" plaque surmounts the hood of this VINTAGE NAUTICAL LANTERN. It stands 14-1/2 inches tall. Not including handle. Features CURVED GLASS LENS and curved metal reflector plate, Sturdy brass mounting brackets on back- presumably for affixing to the mast of a sailing ship. Constructed of brass, glass, and brass plating over- judging from the tarnish- probably copper? This is most likely an older decorative reproduction. It's rendition is very faithful. And lantern is functional. The base unscrews to take a CANDLE- either one with a wide base, or a taper inserted into your own socket(no disrespect intended) OR. And the bottom lid screws and off and on tightly. The total height(top of eagle down) is 8.5" with the main lantern being approximately 6" tall x 4.25" wide x 4.5" thick. Laying in the bottom.The dia. of the globe base is 1 1/4" to replace the globe. It is still dirty and the brass could use a polishing. Here is a Large 8 inch tall RED LENSE REAL GLASS marked Corning on glass Nautical SHIP. DOCK, or PIER Nautical Light. This 8 inch tall lamp has a 3 1/2 inch tall RED glass bezile lense, There are only a couple of specs on the glass that appears to be in very good condition NO CRACKS. The base is 6 inches across and the light is very heavy duty. Not sure if it is military as it appears to be somewhat grey in coloring. There is a number 9-S 4473-L in raised lettering on top. There is a 64 inch heavy duty cord with some type of plug in socket end see photo 5. Not sure if from a ship, dock or pier. Not sure if it works or what type of power supply it used. Suppose it could be rewired. REALLY NICE CONDITION VINTAGE NAUTICAL PIECE. Not sure if it could have been from the RAILROAD? You can see some type of bracket that goes 1/2 way around photos ... more6 and 12. This bracket is uniformed to end exactly 1/2 way around not sure if for mounting on a ship or dock. The lantern is brass with glass panels on each side and a loop on the top to hang the lantern. Interior of the lantern has reflectors on the top and an oil compartment that has been electrified. The light housing is removable from the lantern. Top of the lantern is marked with"Clipper Ship Lamp. No. 1255. Dumbarton. Scotland. 1869. There are brass rods across the glass panels and the panels can easily be seen through. This lantern is believed to be original based on the fact that this lantern has reflector plates and has a thick. Brass data plate. This lantern is approximately 5.5" x 5.5" x 14.5" and weighs almost 6 lbs. All glass in intact with no cracks. It has a wedge burner. I have not tried to use it. It has been used in the past as there is soot at the top. Please see pictures for further condition. It appears shinier in the pictures than it really is. I have not cleaned it or polished it.
