The lamps are large and measure 14 1/2" tall and have a diameter of 7" These solid brass ship lanterns at one point were electrified however no permanent damage was done during the electrifying process and the added sockets can be easily removed bringing them back for their original purpose. If you intend to use them with electricity then a new cord will be required as the cords were cut during removal. Neither has the interior oil lamp and I have been told that just about any small metal wide bottom oil lamp can be used. Both lanterns have their original thick heavy clear lens and these are in excellent condition. They also retain their bottom lenses(shown in images) Both tops are hinged with their original thumb screw and have their original bail handle. The brass is in very good condition with no damage. Maritime Navigational Lanterns.The main housing is constructed of galvanized iron and ... morethe top cover is copper. However they have not been shined up. The original manufacturer was Wilcox& Crittenden& Co. There trademark was Capital W with a Capital C embossed on top of one another. The factory was in Middletown, CONN. USA. There is a photo of the Logo which appears to be embossed on brass, it is on the side, located on top of a metal sleeve, which is riveted on the lantern itself. This sleeve must have been used to slip over something to hold it secure to the ship. Both sleeves are intact and extremely secure. This embossing is very difficult to capture in a photo as the glare, and clarity of a photo so close. The lanterns stand just shy of 13" tall with the hanging loop standing up. They are made to fit in a corner. The sides measure 5" With the front curving around to meet the 2 sides. The glass itself is 5" tall and is almost 90 degrees. One lantern has fresnel green glass for the starboard, and the lantern with the fresnel red glass is for the port. The glass on both lanterns is in very good shape and have no cracks or chips. The metal round accesses to the oil chambers/wicks are both present and appear tight when screwed in. The wick chambers need cleaning, but seem to work, and even have wick left in them! We didn't attempt to light them, but knowing something about oil lanterns, don't see any reason they wouldn't work, however this isn't a guarantee. just presenting things honestly. The metal. Nowhere, on either lantern shows any sign of rust. However they are a brown color. Paint appears to be old, in some places chipping, or peeling off. There are the usual signs of true usage. Wear and tear. Overall appear to be in very good shape. I have not checked them for leakage, however on inspection, I don't see any reason they would leak. I have no idea how old they are. This is ... morea rare. Brass oil lantern manufactured in the early 1900's for use in finer staterooms. It is an absolutely beautiful antique in great condition. There are two small cracks(you can see them in the last two pictures) around the base of the lantern. Most likely caused by age. Also I had a hard time screwing together the lantern and the piece that connects to the wall. I think it could be easily replaced with another bolt. And it might even go together if it is forced. I was trying to be careful when I was putting it together. See the third to last picture to know the piece I am talking about. This lamp was manufactured by C. Gray Ship Chandlers Established 1882 Arbroyath. Scotland. You can see that information on the brass nameplate(see picture above) This lamp used to belong to my aunt’s great uncle and he bought it many many years ago in San Francisco. The lamp is very heavy! The burners are original with a double wick. The knobs are stamped"Duplex Made in England" It appears to be original and in working condition. The wick knobs turn. I have not attempted to put fuel in the lamp or light it. Because I do not know how and I do not want to mess it up! The lamps have not been polished because I wanted to keep it in its current condition and I liked the way they look! The clear glass chimney is in perfect condition. As you can see in the picture the green shade does not fit around the holder(it fits there just fine. But it does not go to the edge of the metal rim) so I do not know if it is just made that way or this is not the original shade. Either way it looks beautiful. I just want to make sure you can see that in the picture and you are given the best description possible! It was reclaimed from a Vintage Boat house with original décor from the 60's. So I assume this fixture is also that old. The brass shows some stress from outdoor use and temp changes but could still be attractive and useable for decades in an indoor or outdoor protected area. The Original true thick FRESNEL LENS(I think it is Kopp Glass- marked in the middle of the lens) is in very good condition with no cracks or chips. Up for auction is an awesome antique Neptune Brass Oil Lantern. This is a"ship" or"maritime" lantern. It measures approximately 15" tall(not including handle) and 6.5" square(not including fittings/external bars) The lid is closed by a latch and clip. Open this to expose the inner chimney. Which can be easily removed by pulling up on the two brass handles in opposing corners. The chimney is in like new condition and the wick raiser works like a dream. There are four outer glass panes that easily slide in and out for cleaning. They are crystal clear and in very good condition with no visible chips. The rivets on this lantern are copper. This is a very high quality lamp in excellent condition. I chose not to polish the brass/copper because some people like the"vintage" look. For sale is a very unique item. This is a vintage circa early 1900's divided port and starboard red and green ships lantern. It measures 10 inches tall not counting the handle. With the handle it is 14 1/2 inches tall. Across the back it is 10 3/4 inches wide. Side measurements are 9 3/4 inches wide. The glass measures approx. 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches. I do believe it is brass as a magnet does not stick. It is an electric lantern with the original on/off switch. It is in very good original condition. This was found in Key West FL. It has the original burner(wick is missing) but will take a standard 3/4" wide wick. As found I only washed it a little to remove the oil/ kerosene from the tank. I believe it would polish up easily but will leave that up to the winning bidder. I rather like the aged patina as is. There are no markings on this light that I can find. There has been no cleaning or restoration done to this light, it has quite a bit of tarnish and natural patina. Vintage Brass Kerosene Gimbal Ships Lamp Here is a great older brass lantern I found during my recent travels in northern Michigan. This beautiful lamp has a gimbal mount and a weighted base. It is self-leveling during movement over water. It appears that it has been polished but it still has a nice warm patina. The glass chimney is very nice with just a small"blob" on the upper rim. There is no wick but the adjuster works smoothly. The base is heavily weighted for stability when sitting on a table. A pair of Brass Cast Dolphin Bracket Lamps manufactured in England marked Starhing for use at sea. It was intended for use in the salon and not outside. I believe they were manufactured between the two world wars. I don't know anything about them except that they came off of a ship at some time or another. These lamps have the dolphin hinges that hook into the wall with the holders for the lamps and the lamps themselves but missing the glass tops. Made to burn oil. Some of the brass is wearing away on one and has a small dent. Very heavy weighted. There is rust on one of the hinges. Please feel free to add information if you know more about these. The body of each lamp measures 8" tall.

pair of brass ships lamps. they have been in storage since the early 1980's. I didn't clean them up and have left on the old patina. but they will shine up like brand new if cleaned. The lamps do have some small dents as I point with my finger in one photo. also one lamps top cover is missing so I made one out of steel and spray painted it gold. both lamps work as pictured. lamps will be shipped in a large crate and barrel box with foam all along the lamps. The burner is marked BRITISH MAKE FULL INCH and the knob is marked SHERWOODS LTD BHAM. There is a paper strip on the bottom that has MADE IN ENGLAND typed on it. I'm not too familiar with these lamps, but I've shown several photos. All 3 glass panels are in good condition with no cracks or breaks. There are one or two light dings on the top near the handle. Antique Elisha Webb & Son Ships Lantern. Copper & Brass. Original Patina:LOOK!!!
Very old Original Ships Lantern which has been converted to 120V so it can be used today. Made by the Elisha Webb& Son Co. USA. It measures 19 1/2" high(including the extended hanging bracket) by 7" diameter. The 3/8" thick prism measures 7" high. The lamp weighs 9 1/2 pounds. There are 6 brass lens protective bars. It has been used as a hanging porch lamp for years but would be great in a"man cave" See photo's and Condition Description for more details and visual condition.
