Antique Authentic Red Port-Side Ship Lantern/Lamp, Nice
This ship lantern has red lens which is in good shape; no noted chips or cracks. The bottom opens where the"oil lamp" was kept. This antique lantern has not been restored; rather. It is in its natural state after many years of use. The lantern is likely handmade/handcrafted and I would say it is from the early 20th century. I believe it is made of tinned iron and brass. The original brass oil/kerosene burner is in great original condition. I am unsure whether this lantern is a Perko marine lamp; it is unmarked from what I could determine. The port-side light was likely used on small river and harbor craft such as water taxis or tug boats. It measures approximately 10.25" in height to the top of the ring; 6" in width at the widest point; and, 4.5" in depth. The lantern is shaped to fit in a corner; there is a hanging ... moremount on one rear side. Please look at the photos I have attached. Use your own judgment. And look at the pictures carefully. They probably date back to the teens or 1920s. The brass has been painted over with black paint. They both have been wired for electricity and don’t have their burners. Although their reflectors are present. They measure approximately 17” high to the top of the handle. And 7-1/4” wide. One lantern still has its mounting bracket. And the globe has a crack on the side(approx. 3” long) Also that cap on top is missing a small piece where it would attach to the lantern. Antique Perko Gimbal Ship's Cabin Oil Lantern Up for auction is an a ntique Perko Ship's Cabin Gimbal Oil or Kerosene Lamp. It measures 5-1/4" to the top of the burner. The gimbal lamp. When mounted to a wall, tilts freely in its bracket and thus always remains horizontal. The wick's thumbscrew is stamped ENGLISH MADE. The base is stamped PERKO. I have had several local Antique Dealers take a look at this because I was unsure where it came from or what it was used for and I got two main responses. First is that it was used on a railway train lantern or train bridge signal light. They other response I got was that it was a ship's signal light or used for navigation through fog. It is very heavy weight just over 18lbs itself. It measures 8" X 8" and is 11" high. This is a great find from a local Estate I cleaned out. The man was an avid collector. This is a great little item. I was told it is a ship's binnacle lamp. It is in very good used condition with normal aged discoloration and no denting that I can see. But without polishing it, it is difficult to tell. I ran my hand over it and did not feel any damage. I left the original patina as is because personally, I think that is part of it's charm. Made of brass and it has a wooden handle. Great little conversation piece. Looks great in a nautical setting. Stands approx. 10 inches high and about 4 inches wide. This is an interesting old lantern. Made from tin and with a glass lens. It reads BOAT SIGNAL LANTERN on the front. When you open the lens, there is a spring loaded lever that slides back to reach the burner. Mirrored on the back side of this. I see no maker marks. The lantern measures 8 3/4" in height and is 3 1/2" in diameter across the bottom. Original black paint shows quite a bit of wear, but the lantern is intact. Neat old lantern. VERY RARE ANTIQUE JAPANESE NIPPON SENTO NAUTICAL SHIP BRASS LANTERN SIGNAL LAMP
For sale is an Antique Japanese Nippon Sento Co. Ltd. Ships Brass Oil Signal Lamp Lantern. This is a very rare lantern I have never seen another one like it listed on Ebay. The lamp is in excellent condition as evident by the photos. It has a very nice patina on the outside and looks great as is. Or can easily be polished for a brilliant shine. The lamp has a wooden handle, and on the left side of the lamp is a thumb toggle switch that opens and closes an aperture behind the lens that allows the light to have the appearance of turning on and off. I'm no expert, but I believe the lamp was designed for semaphore which is a method of using light to visually communicate with another ship, or from ship to shore, and vice a versa. The toggle switch works smoothly, and the door opens and closes freely. Please closely review all of the photos ... morefor the material condition of the lamp. The lamp has the original oil/kerosene pot, but it is missing the glass chimney and possibly a reflector that may have fit in the small rectangular slot at the end of the pot. A replacement glass chimney can be easily found online. The lantern measures approximately 20" inches from the top of the handle to the base, and it is approximately 10 1/2" inches wide. Up for auction is a Pair of Antique Nautical Anchor Porch Lights/ Ship Lights. Back plate with rope and anchor is heavy and appears to be copper(magnet does not stick) Lamp Shades appear to be made from heavy tin like some of the old whale oil lamps(magnet does not stick) Surface is aged from natural weathering and shows authentic time honored oxidation and aged corrosion likely from salt in the ocean mist. Both lamps need new wiring. New sockets and a small repair to the bar at the end that connects to the shade(i.e. an old tin washer, a nut and small screw) see pic where lamp rests on red measuring tape. Antique Ship's Distress / Signal Lantern PERKINS Marine Lamp PERKO, Perkins 8
Hi folks. I'm back after an absence to auction more incredible, authentic items from parents' collections. These are items they've kept in storage- they were collectors of anything and everything old, unusual or beautiful starting their collections back in the 1950s. The past year has had me busy researching, inventorying and cataloging their items. Now I have the dubious task of selling some. For starters, I am not an expert in anything. I have some knowledge of some things, but sometimes I'm not exactly sure of what I have so feel free to contact me to either correct me or educate me. I believe in the"auction" process, so the starting bids on all my items are fairly low to encourage bidding. Here we have an absolutely magnificent antique ship's lantern. Or to be more specific, a Perkins Marine Lamp& Hardware ... moreCo. distress or signal lantern circa about 1915-1925. It is made of galvanized steel and brass- all galvanized steel except for a brass top and brass burner which were polished quite some time ago. The lantern shows old solder repairs. Has a little bit of surface rust here and there, but is otherwise really clean. The fitted burner seems to be very good condition. Is a Plume and Atwood and on the thumb wheel it reads"P&A Mfg Co, Waterbury. Conn. Made in U.S.A. Plume& Atwood made the burners for Perko and many other makers. This lantern has NOT been electrified. The clear globe is marked PERKINS 8 and while it has a little dust. It shows NO damage and is protected by 8 wire guards that are firmly in place(some have some surface rust) The base has two tie-down clips. Although he never used it. This had been hanging in my father's workshop many years ago and I just presumed it had been sold or lost until June when I discovered it had been packed away. The lantern measures about 14.5" tall without the loop standing up(about 16" tall with the loop up) Is about 9.5" wide looking down on it and measuring it wire guard to wire guard. The base measure

This is a great Perkins"PERKO" Marine lantern or bow light. The lantern is about 18" tall counting the handle. The lens is heavy red glass and can be seen from all sides(360 degrees) The lantern works off of oil or kerosene. The reservoir and wick are in tack and working. The Perkins metal tag is still in place(too dark to get into photo) There are some small nicks and I can see what looks like brass under the black paint. I believe the paint is original to the lantern. The lantern is heavy. Over 7 pounds. Lanterns like this were used on large ships as a warning light or bow light. This large all-weather lantern was likely made for maritime use in the late 19th or early 20th century and held a single large candle protected behind five removable panes of glass that each measure 3 1/2" x 8" It is an unusually large and durable design that is typical of use in industry. The lantern stands 13 1/2" in height(17 1/2" with the wooden handle raised) and 7 7/16" in diameter at the base. It weighs 4 lbs, 12 oz. The metal is copper in color but is magnetic and so most likely tin. The hinged lid with a lockable clasp opens and closes smoothly, and reveals the interior black paint to be in very good condition. Up for auction is AN ORIGINAL VERY OLD vintage solid galvanized metal nautical Ship Anchor Lantern. The classic anchor lamp used on sailing ships for hundreds of years. The anchor lamp is machined in pure heavy-gauge steel sheet. The Fresnel style lens is made to magnify the oil lamp light to be visible for 20 nautical miles. The tops to the main body and the vent top are both hinged. Thus the top swings open for access and ease of cleaning. This all metal(except the frilled vent top, which is galvanized copper) is galvanized and shows its age. THIS IS NOT A REPRODUCTION. The anchor lamp is named for its use. A 360o white light is required to be displayed at the highest point( the tallest mast) on all vessels at anchor or under way at night. Antique ship nautical boat electric lamp light. Brass bronze coppper? Oakford
Up for auction to U.S. customers only is an old ship's light with Fresnel glass(no chips or cracks to glass) It stands 15 inches tall and the wire cage is 8 inches across. I am not sure if the primary metal is brass. Copper or bronze- or a combination-but a magnet doesn't stick to it. It is very heavy. It is made by Oakford. There is a light bulb socket inside but it probably isn't original and, without the cord plug, I can't test it. If it was originally electric powered, then the wire outlet on the side looks like it held a much larger power cord. The lid screws onto the top for access to the inside. I'm not sure how it was used on board the vessel- some other listings refer to it as a mast light, others describe it for use on dock pilings, others say it lit the passageways on the ship. If anyone knows for sure, let ... moreme know and I'll add it to the listing. Overall it seems in very good condition with a few relatively minor scratches to the lower finish and, of course, the green discoloration which some people call patina and want it left on the piece so I didn't try to clean up that section(new owner can do that) I don't know anything else about this item so please ask questions. This is an antique nautical maritime copper lantern ceiling. Porch, or hallway light fixture. It was manufactured by the Metrolite Manufacturing Co. The only info I could find on this company was from the 1930s which is likely commensurate with the age and patina on this lantern fixture. It measures 15 inches long from ceiling canopy to base. The base diameter of the lantern is 6-1/4 inches. The interior"jelly jar" glass measures 4-3/4 inches long and 4-1/4 inches in diameter. The interior top portion of the glass is marked"Metrolite Copper Lantern No. 00" NOTE: The first number is illegible. Shipping: I will package this carefully for shipment. Vintage Industrial Age Light Spot Lamp Antique Marine Fixture Ship Military
This auction is for one vintage ship spot light. We bought this fixture from a local estate. It belonged to a man that served in the Navy as a dentist. This was part of a large lot of vintage dental equipment that we purchased. We were told that it was from one of the many military ships that he practiced on. The fixture does work. There is a separate bulb socket mounted on the plate that supports the round light diffuser that is not wired. But the bulb in the center of the diffuser works(see pictures) Cosmetically, there are scratches and plenty of wear. It was painted black at some point and that paint is flaking and there is surface rust present(see pictures) It has been in storage for quite a while and it needs to be cleaned. Up for your consideration is a very nice 1920's Antique Ship Lantern. This is a one of a kind item. Just turn the switch and watch it glow. It puts off a Beautiful fully adjustable Blue Glowing Light using a Vintage style 40w Edison light bulb with a full range Leviton dimmer switch. This awesome Antique ship lantern works perfectly and is in excellent vintage condition. The lantern was manufactured in the 1920's and is constructed of metal with brass hardware and a brass manufacturers name plate. The brass name plate does have some solder on the edges from when it was attached to the lantern during manufacturing. It reads ALFRED F. GENTON SYEN WORKS WASHINGTON ST. BIRMINGHAM ENGLAND. Rare Antique 1920's Perko Brass Ship's Fog Bell Marine Lamp Original Patina
Rare 1920's original 8" fog bell lamp marked on inside of bell. PERKO, Perkins M.S. Co. Bklyn, N.Y. 07-61" Since I couldn't find a similar Perko fog-bell-lamp form anywhere, I contacted the Perko Marine Lamp Corp in Miami Florida with photos of the lamp. They said that this was originally manufactured by Perkins in this lamp-form and that it is not a custom piece made outside the factory by an individual. In their library they found only a 1920 and a 1932 catalog. In the 1920 catalog, they found a lamp that had similar fittings. I believe the markings inside the bell date this lamp to sometime between 1922 when the"PERKO" trademark was created and 1932 when the company name was changed to Perko Marine Lamp and Hardware Corp. It has a well-aged patina. Height from bottom of base to top of eagle finial is 20" ... moreDiameter of bell is 8" Bell has a wonderful resonant. Distinctive fog bell sound. Lamp is in good working order. Not sure if the wiring has been changed at all- the electrical plug is the old-style with prongs of even width. Some black electrical tape on bottom as you can see in photo. Shade is a replacement. Condition generally very good with no cracks or dings- pls see closeup photos. The oil container with wick is removed from the top with a brass stem that lifts up out of the top. All parts appear in working order. But there is a spotting of green here and there. Here is a great nautical set of large ship brass and copper lanterns for your buying consideration. Recently acquired them at an auction that a party's collection of marine/nautical items were being sold. We will have a number of these pieces for sale separately in our Ebay store. The lanterns would make a great gift or keep them for yourself. I would guess these lanterns are of pre-World War II vintage. The lamps were made by Yankee American Auto Lamp Co. They were in NY. Great set of port(red) and navigation(blue) metal and brass ship lanterns for your decor needs. The lanterns were probably electrified originally and are now electrified for home decor ... moreneeds. The lanterns still have the hanging rings on the top of them. The red lens lantern has a brass colored finish. The blue lens lantern has a nickel plated finish. The lenses in each one are glass and not cracked or blistered. Only exception is blue one which has a blister that runs about 1.5" across the top of it where it meets the metal of the lantern. The lantern cases are in good shape. They show some finish loss and some minor dings and dents. Each lantern is 6" tall. By 4.5" across, by 4.5" wide. The cords in the lanterns are older, but still look to be in usable condition. I would recommend you have the cords and wiring checked out by a professional look at before using them from a safety perspective. Let us know if you have any questions or need additional pictures.
