I'm not sure if the boat is a submarine or a trawler- the spout-like device on top could be a smokestack or a periscope. The mola is intricately worked with very early cloth throughout- including a number of printed fabric inserts. But I suspect it is from the'50s or early'60s. Highly-abstract design, the skinny sleeves and fairly early cloth all indicate a possible early date- maybe even 1940s. But the thin outlining and high-level craftshmanship would argue for a later(1960s) date. I think it could be either- because a number of 1940s molas with fine workmanship are known. The low intro price will let the market decide how early it is. Acquired from a leading New Mexico collector of Kuna art. Note damage to the yoke. Rare, Exceptional Costa Rican 'stirrup handle' (Pre-Columbian?) pottery vessel
This was one of several pieces acquired at of an estate sale of a person that traveled extensively in Central America during 1950s-1980s. The bowl has a stirrup-style handle formed by a reptile/iguana figure. It has four“coffee bean” bumps on either side of the vessel. Although called"coffee-bean" these were frequently produced in Costa Rica long before the introduction of Coffee in the 1700s. This is an exceptional example of Costa Rican Pottery and is in excellent condition with no identified cracks or chips. My research indicates this is an example of Central American pottery with the characteristics of pottery produced in Costa Rica/Panama prior to 1500. There are no incisions or other markings. Mid Century Los Castillos(?) Salvador Teran Teak and silver Salad Forks
Mid Century Mexico at it's best. Firstly. These came from a major collector of Los Castillo's mostly Salvador pieces. This is teak with silver detail. It is definately from his collection. I saw some mark on the bottom wood but can not make out. Either way so cool. They have a few wood scratches on the bottom. Could probably use a oil cleaning. Left as is because I would not want to damage the patina. Each is 6 inches long. Sits on the table so fabulous.

But their simple rendering and odd faces(horse-like mouths) and weird poles that seem to protrude from the tops of their heads all sort of say"huh? I'm fairly baffled. Here is a UNIQUE and RARE Vintage Handmade SHIPIBO Pottery FROG Effigy Figure. It is likely from the 1950's. This type of terracotta pottery comes from the Shipibo-Conibo- an indigenous people who live along the Ucayali River in the Amazon rainforest in Perú. Formerly two groups. The Shipibo(apemen) and the Conibo(fishmen) eventually became one distinct tribe through intermarriage and communal ritual. There are estimated to be only 11,000-25,000 of these talented people remaining. Shipibo-Conibo women make beadwork and textiles. But are probably best known for their pottery, decorated with maze-like red and black geometric patterns. This frog effigy is rare and unique(bowls and people effigies are more common finds) This frog has the traditional maze-like patterns painted on it similar to the face tattoos of the Shipibo people.
