A WONDERFUL MELOMN POT FORM WITH A VERY DISTINCTIVE CORN DESIGN RIM. NiCELY SIZED AND A GREAT EXAMPLE FROM THIS KNOWN ARTIST. Virginia Fragua, “Ponca ... moreFlower” is a full blooded Native American Indian. She is a member of the Corn Clan and was born into the Jemez Pueblo in 1961. She was inspired to continue the long lived family tradition of hand coiling pottery, using ancient traditional methods at the age of 16. Her inspiration came from her grandmother, Persingula M. Gachupin. They developed a very close relationship during this time. She taught her all the fundamentals of working with clay. Virginia also helped her mother paint her pottery when she was a child. Virginia specializes in hand coiled melon styled pottery.

Important 1966 Aboriginal Bark Painting Famous artist DAVID MALANGI Bark Art
Please email with questions. Rarely do you see a piece like this come out to the public. But here it is, guaranteed original piece. Purchased in Australia in the 60's and I purchased it from the original buyer. Incredible art and history. Thanks so much for looking here. I will consider any serious offer. The painting is 10 inches at the catfish head and 9 and 1/2 inches at it's tail. The painting is nearly 30 inches tall or long. I have not cleaned this piece with anything. It is in wonderful shape. No bark frays or loose edges. The one dark spot may come off easily, but I have not attempted to do anything to it. As found condition, but certainly ought to be in a museum with most of his other pieces. Do not let this one get past you. David Malangi. Who began painting in the early 1960’s, played a vital role in the development of ... morethe contemporary Aboriginal art movement and became, during his lifetime, one of the great inspirational figures of Arnhem Land art. While, for many older Australians, he is best known for the image that featured on the now defunct one-dollar note, he was also a traveling ambassador for his country and his people and achieved worldwide recognition for his innovative yet deeply tradition-based bark paintings. He was born at the mouth of the Glyde River in Central Arnhem Land and like many of the Manharrju people, divided his time between periods at the off-shore Milingimbi mission and extended stays in his own country on the mainland, where he and his family lived according to traditional law. He often worked on the mission as a garden labourer and caring for livestock. He had been painting for ceremony since his teenage years but, after the death of his father in the late sixties, he became apprenticed to the ceremonial leader Ghawadanygulili. He soon took a more serious approach to art as a career and painted for a growing audience outside of his tribal group. He had already been painting for more than fifteen years when, in 1979, he became a founding member of the Ramingining A

Aboriginal Bark Painting (1989) Man In The Moon Signed: H. Gordan "9 x 26 3/4
This is a wonderful bark painting signed by H. Gordon about the MAN IN THE MOON. The artist told me" Once upon a time. There was a mother who had a son. She asked her son to get her some fish to eat. Instead he kept bringing her sting rays. A curse was put on the boy and every month he got a little more crooked until he eventually became the man in the moon. So now you know how we got the man in the moon. I bought this directly from the Aboriginal artist outside of Cookstown. Australia in 1989. The bark painting measures 26 3/4" x 9" and is in very good condition. The colors are a bit nicer than the pictures. This painting has always been kept in a smoke free home. The last picture shows how it was fixed to hang at the time it was bought. Shipping will include insurance. If you have any questions please ask. Please look at ... moremy other auctions as I have a hand painted. Signed and dated 1989 Didgeridoo and a CD with a lot of Didgerido in it.

Aboriginal Slate Wandjina Painting 25cm x 22cm
My apologies for de-listing the previous Wandjina to all that were watching it. It won't happen to this one. I'm selling an Aboriginal handpainted Wandjina. It has been painted on slate. Part of an estate belonging to a late member of my family whom travelled extensively around Australia and in particular W.A. in the Sixties and Seventies. It appears to be rather dirty with grime as there is an underlayer of white. Measuring 25cm by 22cm. It does have some imperfections. Scratches and the like. I will send via registered mail and if the postage is less I will refund the difference. No buy it now. Paypal payment only.

Aboriginal Abstract Oil Painting by Noah Sainnawap / Noah Brown
Aboriginal Abstract Oil Painting by Noah Sainnawap/ Noah Brown Description: A little about Noah Sainnawap. First Nations artist. Noah Sainnawap(1954– 2005) had a very unique abstract style and blending of woodland references in his artwork. He had been quoted as saying"my paintings have no stories, I paint the way I feel and don't like to dwell in the past. He came from a Cree family and was a member of the Osnaburgh Band. His northern life and nomadic wanderings took him across Canada. His work is represented in many collections, including the Thunder Bay Art Gallery, Royal Ontario Museum[Toronto] McMichael Canadian Art Collection[Kleinberg] University of Winnipeg Anthropology Department, Vancouver Planetarium and numerous other public and private collections. Internationally, Noah had said he sold works to collectors in Europe, ... morethe United States and the Caribbean) During the early 70's, Noah used the name Noah Brown, but shortly afterwards discovered his Cree surname and began using it. This paintings therefore, can be signed Noah Sainnawap or Noah Brown. Images of works by Picasso, and the Norval Morrisseau book published by Pollack, inspired him. His native name is Wolverine. His artwork was included in the publication"Legends from the Forest" by Chief Thomas Fiddler, Edited by James R. Stevens and translated by Edtripo Fiddler, Published by Penumbra Press, 1985. This original acrylic abstract acrylic oil painting by Noah Sainnawap. Is larger than most of his works measuring 16" by 20" and is painted on a canvas board. Aboriginal art - Indigenous Australian art painting on bark
Australian indigenous painting on bark. The work appears to be signed or marked with a tribal or geographical mark. However as I know very little about aboriginal art I can not identify the tribe or artist that produced this work. I do know that the work of some indigenous artists is very collectible and valuable. If this turns out to be a valuable piece my loss is your gain. The excellent draftsmanship would indicate to me this is a quality piece. US bidders only.

A LARGE ABORIGINAL BARK PAINTING OF WHITE BUTTERFLY BY BRIAN YINWANGA. C1970'S
This Aboriginal painting was bought in Australia by my aunt as a souvenir of her trip in the 1970s. The work is by Brian Yinwanga. The approximate size is 68cm long. I measured the bark from the back and including the curve the board is 34cm across at the top and 38cm across at the bottom. In my humble opinion the picture is in good condition. But if I was being very critical then these are the problems with it: The board is curved forward(I think that shows in the picture) The edges are a bit knocked and worn(expected from being moved around) There is a piece of wood pinned from the front onto the back to hang it. But I think this was done by the artist as they seem to have been painted over. The wood piece is coming off. There is a small area of rubbing on an area of the cross hatching. If you would like any further information or pictures. ... morePlease let me know. Thanks for looking I am happy to post overseas. But please ask for P&P costs BEFORE you bid as it has risen a lot in price recently.

Aboriginal Bark Painting Cape York 1963
This early bark was collected in 1963 at Weipa in the Gulf of Carpentaria on the east coast of Cape York. Bark paintings from this area are rare and the only example I have had from this area was done by Thancoupie the renowned potter who was born in Weipa in 1937. This bark shares close similarities to it and with research I am sure could be attributed. The bark is irregular in shape and roughly hewn at the top and bottom. It depicts two figures around what appears to be a morning star pole. It has been done using earth pigments and measures 70cm x 23cm.
