Awesome Large very RARE Antique Egyptian Sahara Tuareg Warrior Broad Sword.
Hello Everyone. As I have mentioned before. Since my mother passed away two summers ago, we have been selling parts of an extensive collection and some estate items which included a large variety of old and vintage items and many antique items. Over the next week we will be listing various old antiques and vintage collectibles. Over time we will be listing someof everything! So. Keep watching and you might just find what you want! What we sell are. For a fact, authentic old antiques, and are guaranteed to be so. Update: We have acquired additional swords and antiques that we will be listing over the next week or so. My husband's 30 years plus experience with authentic swords has prompted us to get back into the business that we once enjoyed so much. Thanks for looking and Thanks for bidding! Here is another One of the oldest and finest ... morespecimens of the Tuareg Double edged Broadsword that one can find. This one is particularly rare because it has the original old double arm bands for carrying the sword. They are one of the few cultures who wore their swords around their arms as they traveled. This is a very large sword for a Tuareg broadsword. Probably carried by someone in the clan of higher rank. Measures 34 1/2 inches in scabbard with a blade measuring 29.5 inches. The Tuareg were the Warriors of the Sahara. From Egypt to the borders of The Sahara Desert, they were sometime referred to as the protectors of the Sahara. The history of the Tuareg often places them as the Mad Mahdi Tribe, or at other times as the fighting faction or warriors of the Dankali who primarily occupied the s. west area near the Red Sea. However, they have been known to protect the cultures from the Western parts of Africa to the Area of Egypt. History shows that they were truely the best of the best when it came to fighting a battle. In a sense it is somewhat of a mystery. Somewhat later evidence shows that they were more of a nomadic warrior group or culture. There are several factors that are known. One is that they encountered

Antique/vintage rare forged ALUMINUM spearhead lance tip TUAREG? LOOK @ THIS
This auction is for a very unusual African ALUMINUM spear or lance tip. A blunt item not made for combat. Probably a prestige or processional item with symbolic significance. Aluminum shows up a lot in West African weapons. Maybe because it was rare in the region or because it stays shiny. I do not know the origin of this item but it seems to resemble Tuareg blades from Mali and neighboring countries. Numerous decorative elements including dots, file work, punched designs etc. that look Tuareg. Was obtained with some copper currency blades that might also be Tuareg(they have the same punched dot pattern) It is certainly West African. Thin and obviously hammered out and shaped by hand. Has a teardrop shaped blade, square-sectioned shaft, short well-formed socket for attaching to a shaft. Measures 13 1/2" by about 1 1/2" Probably ... moremid-20th century. Readers: If you have more information about this item I will certainly add it to the listing. Would be an attention-getting display item mounted in a shadow box or on a shelf. Old TUAREG Silver Talismanic Marabout's Ring- AFRICA An imposing old Tuareg silver Chef de Canton's ring of pure architectonic form that could be easily dated to the mid 20th century and originating from Mali. Old and Tribally Used Tuareg Aluminum Copper Brass Khalkhal Anklet Mali Africa
Old TUAREG Aluminum Copper Brass Khalkhal Anklet-AFRICA An old traditional Tuareg woman's anklet or"khalkhal" in Tamacheq) made of aluminum and detailed in brass and copper originating from Mali or Mauritania. Aluminum jewelry was worn by those who could not afford silver. As a piece like this would require a lot of silver for its elaboration. The incised and applied patterns are both aesthetic and protective. For example. The circular designs possess amuletic powers in that they are intended to ward off the evil eye. With time the applied central motif has been lost, however, once raised ball still remains in place. Inlaid and incised techniques have been used to decorate the surface of this khalkhal. The knob-like ends are prominent and are decorated as well. Copper is appreciated by the Tuareg for its prophylactic qualities. ... moreThe opening of the anklet measures 4 cm(1 3/3 inches) and the width is of 3.8 cm(1 1/2 inches) Collected in the region of Timbuktu; superb patina of age. Old Tuareg Banded Agate Talhakimt Tanfouk Amulet-AFRICA A fine old Tuareg talhakimt or tanfouk amulet talisman made of Idar-Oberstein banded agate and displaying rich variations in color. It is not uncommon that the Tuareg string the talhakimt with crosses and other pendants. Creating elaborate necklaces. These agate rings are also worn in small numbers by young Tuareg men on their fingers to call the attention of young women. The hitting together of the carnelian agate produces a notably striking sound and must prove effective in courting! Idar-Oberstein beads are cut from Brazilian agate and bear the hallmarks of the crafts people of Idar-Oberstein who mastered the perfection of the cuts making the beads shine so that they almost appear to have been molded. Yet each bead has been gently abraded against the grinding stone where many hours ... moreof work have been put into their cutting. The edges of the Talhakimt are finely serrated, much attention to detail has been dedicated in the elaboration of this piece. Idar-Oberstein- the German Rhineland. African tribal Tuareg small leather purse bag ethnographic art fashion ethnic
Tuareg is a term used to identify numerous diverse groups of people who share a common language and a common history. Tuareg camel caravans played the primary role in trans-Saharan trade until the mid 20th century when European trains and trucks took over. Tuareg history begins in northern Africa. Many groups have slowly moved southward over the last 2.000 years following the promise of a more prosperous land in the south. Although most Tuareg now practice some degree of Islam they are not considered Arabic. Much Tuareg art is in the form of jewelry, leather and metal saddle decorations and finely crafted swords. They are located in Niger, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Senegal and Mali. Please note the fine embroidery work on this bag. This work is done by the women of the tribe. This bag is rich in color. Very supple and in very good condition. ... moreIt opens from the bottom exposing a compartment for valuables that slides in and out but is tight fitting so as not to easily come open but also keep the contents extremely safe. This type of tcherot would be given to a young girl nce she has attained the age of 18. The more aesthetic a tcherot or other talisman would be, greater would be its effectiveness and power to ward of evil(the evil ... moreeye) and to bring luck and good fortune to its wearer. Necklaces and pendants. More than any other pieces of jewelry worn by Tuareg women, are symbols of age, wealth and social status. It is on important occasions, such as feasts and ceremonies, that women take out all of their special jewelry and wear multiples of necklaces, otherwise simple necklaces are worn singly on a daily basis. It is not uncommon for older Tuareg pieces tend to contain more nickel as the Tuareg preferred to wear pieces that did not have too much shine so as not to attract attention. Also silver was not readily available till a later date. In design. Forms adhere closely to a few basic shapes that are repeated over and over in Tuareg pieces of metalwork, embroidery and leather work. Motifs. As is the case in all old pieces have been hand-incised with a sharp metal tip. The interior of the talisman would contain a piece of paper on which were written verses from the Koran or old magic formulas known and prepared by the Marabout, or some may even contain sand from the Sahara.
