Horse armous are designed to fit the horse body. Our example is just a wrapper. It is probable that was more likely used as a tent hanging. THIS LOVELY PIECE OF AFRICAN DESERT CULTURE WAS COLLECTED IN ABOUT 1972. WHEN WE LIVED IN NIGERIA. IT IS AN AMULET OR GRIS-GRIS, FOR PROTECTION AND BLESSING, PROBA BLY CONTAINS SOME WRITING FROM THE KORAN. IT IS MOST LIKELY FROM THE TUAREG TRIBE. BUT I CANNOT BE SURE OF ITS ORIGIN. THE AMULET IS IN THE SHAPE OF A SMALL BOX, WORN AROUND THE NECK SUSPENDED BY A CORD. IT MEASURES ABOUT 2 1/2 INCHES BY 3 INCHES BY 1 INCH.

I know very little about these necklaces. They are leather. Purchased from African dealer out of Niger. I do not know how old these are. They are made of woven leather. Two thinner ones measure about 18" long and about 1/4" thick. Thicker one measures about 20" long and about 1/2" thick.

Big Vintage Silver Metal Tuareg Fulani Ethnic Tribal Men's Lost Wax African RING
Vintage Tuareg Fulani Ring This is a lovely vintage silver-toned metal RING sourced in Niger. The top of the ring measures 1 1/8” 2.85 cm) at the widest. The band measures just under 1/4" 0,55 cm) wide at the narrowest part. The ring was hand made using the lost wax casting method. It features half-circle designs, a lozenge diamond shape, and granulation. As the shape is not round, it is difficult to size this ring, but it should be around size 10(US standard) it could be soldered shut, but though the band has a split, it is very strong. This ring has fantastic wear and patina- it is most likely Fulani. This caste gradually gained status through their skill over the centuries, to the point where they are now considered to use magic in their craft and are among the most respected and revered members of society. Known for their geometric shapes these old beads are typical of the Tuareg people of North Africa. Each handmade bead is unique& the aged patina adds to their distinctive character. The 10 main beads are 17-20mm long x 6mm at the center. The 3 Extra Rare tiny beads that hang from the pendants are a mere 13mm x 3mm at the center! Although the exact silver content is unknown. They respond to polishing.
