Can be steamed or ironed-I have left this up to the buyer. These fascinating cloths with their simple abstract markings are made by the Mbuti people of Congo's Ituri rainforest. Additional information: The Mbuti people who live in the Ituri rainforest of Northeastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. Formerly Zaire, are one of the few remaining hunter-gatherer cultures in the world. Since 3500 BC. They have been famed for their rich and extraordinary arts of music and dancing, but until recently, the barkcloth drawings and paintings made by Mbuti women have been virtually unknown in the West. Originally made as loincloths for ceremonies and dances. These drawings are sophisticated abstract compositions embodying the qualities of improvisation and syncopation that are associated with the African visual and musical sensibility. Hawaiian tiki tapa kapa mug vintage handmade class of 1985 plumeria 14 oz handle
Can't believe this has survived in such great condition over the decades. Hawai'ian tiki kapa tapa cloth mug. Handmade. You can tell because the rim is NOT perfectly round. But rather oblong. Hand painted right here in Hawai'i. I measured liquid amount and it's 14 ounces to the rim. This is a substantial heavy piece. Walls and handle are super thick. Not commercial grade junk. But the real handmade local deal. You are going to love it. Especially if you need one that has'Class of 1985' written on it! Inside has a light curved spot about 1/4" wide. I do not know if this is crazing or not. But doubt it. Other than that. It looks pretty new. This has been painted to resemble the Hawai'ian tree bark tapa/kapa cloth. 3 3/4" tall x 4 1/2" wide from handle to edge of rim. Plumeria flower motif decorates ... moreone side. If you want it to look perfect. It will need a cleaning on the inside, I believe. RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fuk.rp*05e54c%3E-13d80392c61-0xfe-

Very nice Hand-painted Tapa cloth from Fiji, bark cloth Masi 1980's
Made from the bark of the Paper Mulberry tree. This most closely resembles the Fijian style of painting that I have found online. It was a gift from some friends who visited Fiji and New Zealand in the 1980's and brought this back as a gift. I really do not care for this style of art and as they are no longer alive I am offering it for auction to someone who does. It measures 18 x 24 inches. These are ceremonial. I do not know anything more about them. I will send it in a padded flat rate envelope. in the US. Thank you for looking.

Pabst Blue Ribbon Vintage Half Quart TAPA Can "Union Made" Can Body, Newark, NJ
Vintage steel bodied PBR CAN. I'm not an expert on brewery collectibles. My guess would be late 50's early 60's? This is a nice piece I purchased from a gentleman who's Dad had worked in the Newark. NJ Pabst brewery. There is some fading of litho from age. Etc. Check photos carefully. There are scuffs, and a bend at the top can flange. Slight non-critical rust and discoloration. Great affordable piece for the casual collector. Please check my listing if you want an opener and 3 coasters that I suspect would match this cans era. This can has taken on a yellowish hue because of vintage. Great as a conversation piece. Litho clear that states. BREWED AND PACKED BY PABST BREWING COMPANY, NEWARK, NJ U.S.A. Vintage Tapa Cloth, Bark Fabric: Browns, Mat, Wall Hanging, American Samoa (?)
This a beautiful Vintage. Tapa Cloth, Bark Fabric in very good, used condition. It measures about 70" x 48" and may have been used as a Wall Hanging or Mat. I researched some on the internet because this is not something I am completely familiar with. The examples that matched this tapa cloth in color and design were associated with American Samoa. The material is actually bark that has been softened through a process of soaking and beating. The paints are vegetable dyes and the designs determine its everyday or ceremonial use. This cloth has been carefully folded and stored as noted by the creases. It seems to be in fine condition with the exception of the beginning of a small tear at the center fold which I have shown in my 4th picture. It has great color and interesting designs and it is impressive looking. NOTE: Items are shown ... moreand described to the best of my ability. But are sold as is. I am not an expert or a collector. Please look at the pictures, read the item description and email me with any questions BEFORE bidding. Thanks for your consideration and bids. Please check out my other auctions. I want you to be happy with your purchase and my service. If there is a problem that would prevent you from giving me all 5 excellent stars for a rating. PLEASE email me first and give me a chance to correct it if possible. Your item will be shipped the way you select and pay for. Using the available USPS or UPS Options(Your choice, based on cost or speed) Please let me know your choice when your payment is made. I do not charge handling within the U.S.A. and I will combine shipping on multiple items.

Vintage FIJI Fijian MASI TAPA CLOTH Bark Pacific Island Polynesian South Seas
Vintage New Zealand Tapa Cloth Barkcloth Pacific Island Polynesian South Seas Beautiful pattern! Measures roughly 24 x 36 inches(2 x 3 feet) I took some pictures of it from different light angles so you can see how it is made from bark cloth. A fellow eBayer told me that this very fine piece is most likely from New Zealand, so I will go with that until proven otherwise. Possibly from a Mulberry tree. Would look great framed or in a Tiki Bar!
Hawaiian Handpainted Tapa Motif Ceramic Mugs made by Ele - Vintage
Fabulous set of two vintage ceramic mugs with a Hawaiian“Tapa” design in browns and tans with creamy white background. The bottoms are inscribed with LH HAWAII by ele. Hard to find in this great condition with minimal wear and no chips or cracks. From the research I have done. These were made by an artist named Ele in Kailua, Oahu. They could be used for decoration, office organization- storing pens, or to display with a collection. Or to be used as fun coffee mugs, of course! These mugs weigh 1lb on their own without packaging. Hence the shipping cost. I will pack these cups very carefully to avoid damage during shipping and, if the quoted shipping is over $1.00, I will refund the difference to you. PayPal only please. Thanks for looking!

Amazing rare vintage tapa 'bark' cloth! Early Hawaii or Pacific Islands, WWII !
This is such a sensational piece of very old tapa cloth(I believe that's what it's called! I acquired it many years ago rolled up in an old trunk. The trunk was full of items that belonged to a veteran from WWII. He was stationed in the Pacific Islands somewhere and there were also many photos of natives. Huts, etc. In the trunk were also many photos taken in the Hawaiian Islands of sailors dated 1942. I have parted with most of the contents, but have hung on to this wonderful old'bark' cloth with the intention of having it framed and displayed in my home. Well, that's just not going to happen, so I'd prefer to find it a new home with folks who can enjoy it, rather than keeping it stored! Please look carefully at the photos, there is quite a bit of wear around the edges. The entire piece measures about 35" by ... more34" hard to be real accurate with the edges not perfectly intact. If I were to keep it, I'd carefully trim the rough edges and have it framed! The center design and workmanship is fabulous! Please take a minute to check out the great sale in my store! Thanks! Check out my! For over ten years I sold on Ebay under the ID'gr8ful' With over 3600 positive feedback score. I have literally thousands of items to list, from antique photos to barkcloth and everything in between. It will take me quite a while to get it all listed so please check back often! Be sure to add me to your! Payment is expected within 3 days of purchase. Please check out my photos carefully and ask any questions prior to bidding or buying. I am NOT an expert in any field of collecting. I have the good fortune to have acquired a lifetime of collectibles and antiques which I will be offering for sale. I take good photos and make every effort to give the best and most accurate descriptions of items to earn your trust and repeat business! Thanks very much!

One of a kind handmade tray. It was acquired here in Hawaii in Kahaluu. An estate find. It was mayb e a souvenir piece from an old tourist stop nearby or. The front surface is vinyl-like. It is a print of a vi llage scene. Water, mountain, hut, palm trees, outrigger canoe and native man with paddle in hand. Use it as a serving tray in your tiki bar. Vintage Tapa Cloth from Fiji, 1970s, 12"X18"
Vintage Tapa Cloth from Fiji. 1970s,12”X18” This vintage tapa cloth was purchased in Fiji in the early 1970s while serving there in the Peace Corps; it measures approximately 12"X18" about the size of a placemat) The colors are black. Brown and cream; the lovely over-all design covers the piece and includes geometrics as well as floral accents and a running border design. In spite of its vintage quality, there are no tears, holes or rips in this beautiful example of bark cloth. On the back, however, are several stains(perhaps from water? there are also a few numbers written in pencil(18X12" Some of the edges of the stains are visible from the front also, although they blend in a little with the design. The tapa cloth is not brittle and is fairly flexible, especially for its age. This pretty piece would make a nice addition ... moreto a tapa cloth collection with the added benefit of not taking up much space on the surface where displayed. Vintage 50's 60's Pacific Islands Tonga Ngatu Tapa Floor Cloth 67 by 53 in.
This auction is for another of the vintage 50's and 60's Tapa's that I purchased from the estate of the Purser from the S.S. Lurline about 25 years ago. His route was the Pacific Island route and he brought back many of these which were all in a box and never used. I bought 20 of them. I have about 10 left. This one is 67 by 53 inches. As you can see it is all hand pounded from the bark and hand decorated. It has a design of Eagles. T and birds and other symbols. I was told this one is Tongan. This has been folded up and needs to be ironed to get the creases out. There are a few very small holes where it was folded and also a small area of discoloration along the edge and another in the center. I tried ot take a picture but it doesn't really show up. As with all hand pounded tapa. Some areas are thinner than others but this ... moreis fairly thick. Terms Of Sale I offer a buy it now or best offer on the majority of items. Don’t be timid about making an offer. I will consider all offers as long as it they are reasonable and fair offers. Descriptions: I really do my best to describe the items accurately. Most of the items I sell are either antiques or vintage. So there will usually be some sign of use, but if you have any questions about the item, please ask before bidding. Refund Policy: As in all auctions. Sales are final unless I have seriously omitted something in my description. Please DO NOT return items without notifying me prior to shipment. If I agree to a return, it must be returned within 7 days of receipt and the return postage may or may not be refunded depending on circumstances. I will always try to be fair, but I will not refund for buyers remorse or for failure to read the description in full. Please wait for an invoice before you pay for your item. Payment is due within four days of purchase or a non paying bidder report will be filed. Shipping: I print all of my shipping labels online. And the shipping prices quoted are my best guess of the complete cost to deliver the item(s) I ship via
