Now those Hammersley folks in England know how to make a beautiful looking strawberry design and put it on a fine bone china Pomander. This ball shaped Pomander is one of the prettiest I have seen and it just has that special quality look and feel. I'm thinkin' that if I wanted to have a pomander around the house I would be hard pressed to find a better one. This piece does have a plastic stopper and a red ribbon"loop" All ready to be of service. Ring, or trinket box in the Victorian Violets pattern. Measures approximately 4" in length, 2 1/2"width and 2 ¾" height. The box is white with violets on the top, bottom, and inside the lid. There is a black 8 to the side on the inner lid. There is a line of gold on the bottom edge of the top and the top edge of the bottom. Mom was almost 91 when she died. So these could span quite the decades. I recall stopping into a private residence in Vancouver, BC in the mid-1960's and mom purchased a number of teacups from this woman. As a little girl, I recall seeing teacups everywhere- in every window and every shelf. Mom was born in Edmonton and she always had tea and loved her collection. I can remember being thrilled to be old enough to take over the washing of the teacups. A thick. Fluffy towel was laid at the bottom of each sink; one filled with lukewarm, soapy water and the other with lukewarm, clean water. I had to progress to actually taking the cups to the sink. At first, mom would just bring me the saucers and she’d stand there while I carefully washed each one. I continued to do that task until she died– I flew up twice a year and did all her glassware and her china. It was a joy. I also remember the“old” aunts(my mom’s aunts from Canada) would come for US Thanksgiving. One would take her cup of tea and pour it into the saucer and drink from the saucer. This is a stunning set of vintage figurines depicting a Chinese Prince& Princess. They were created by the Gort China Company in the 1950s' They were designed by artist Helen Liedloff who originally worked for Goldscheider in the 1940s' The Gort China Company began production in 1944 in Metuchan. New Jersey. It was started by brothers, Eric& Walter Gort. Together they produced some of the finest quality bone china figurines created in America. Though the company was initially very successful by the mid 1950s' it could not compete with a cheaper foreign market& had to close it's doors. This is a gorgeous. Vintage English bone china cup and saucer set. The set is decorated with the imari colors: cobalt blue, red/orange and gold on white background. The cup is slightly flared with fat loop handle. The trimming is gold around the edges The white handle is gold on top. The marking on the bottom dates back to 1915. Incised into the bottom of the saucer is"Derby 1915" Size of cup: 3 1/2" diameter around the top. 1 3/4" deep. Size of saucer: 5 1/2" diameter. Condition of the set is mint. No chips. RARE ANTIQUE CHINESE CANTON CARVED BONE CARD CASE This is an antique Chinese Cantonese carved ox bone card case that is absolutely beautiful. Carved in superb three dimensional detail with images to one side of men in a row boat beneath a willow tree, whilst people stand upon a small bridge, higher upis a cluster of people amongst trees with pagoda like people. To the lid there are more carved images of people seated in agarden setting. To the other side of the case there are images of people going about their every day lives in a rural setting surrounded by trees and foliage, some with fans/ paddles in their hands. The detailing is stunning and it is a joy to study from all angles It measures 2.8 x 4.2 inches wide Condition; generally very good though to the top side of the lid there is a replacement edge detail. Made frim a fan or similar- ... morealso tot he oposite side of the lid there is a small crack. The lid remains strong but would benefit from some attention. Vintage"Order of the Eastern Star" Heritage Bone ChinaCup& Saucer Search This is a very pretty bone china standard-sized cup and saucer marked Heritage Bone China. This appears to be a trade name and I am not certain which pottery actually produced this set. But it very likely a Staffordshire firm. This cup and saucer were made for the female auxiliary of the Masonic Shriners organization, called the Order of the Eastern Star. I have not been able to find any records to indicate the date of manufacture, but this marking is consistent with pieces made from about 1930 all the way up to the late 1950's. I believe that this piece was most like made in the late 1940's. This is a standard-sized tea cup and saucer made with a scalloped blank. The decoration is typical of O. E. S. items and very nicely executed with great detail ... moreand lavish silver or platinum trim. It is in excellent used condition with no signs damage or or handling wear. The trim on both the cup and saucer are pristine. This very nice example of mid-century Staffordshire bone china is offered with a very reasonable opening bid.
