LG OLD ANTIQUE AFRICAN NATIVE AMERICAN LIDDED STORAGE BASKET VTG ART
This is a very old large antique lidded olla basket. I was told when I purchased it several years ago that it was Native American Indian. However, one of my more knowledgable viewers has told me this was more likely a basket from African. Either way it is a wonderful antique basket. It would have been used for storage such as dried foods. Grains etc. The outside of the basket has a geometric pattern that is quite faded but on the bottom and the inside of the basket the colors are still very vibrant with purples and blues. It would have had two handles at one time but both handles are broken off. It has places on the rim of the vessel and the lid that are worn but the basket is still fairly strong for its age. The lid fits very snugly. It is a little askew which only adds to the charm. It is a large size- 12" high x 12" across and ... moreweighs 3 pounds. This is a really neat old basket. I try to describe my items the best I can. But I am not an expert and so am very grateful when viewers offers information. I try to show good photos and I do offer a 14 day return policy. Shipping will be added to the final bid.

Rare Childs/Woman Souix beaded cuffs. I have never seen anything in this type of category. These are FANTASTIC! I bought these at an American Indian Auction in San Francisco in 1990. They are trapezoid.7 3/4" x 6 1/2" x 4 1/2" They seem to be buffalo hide. There are NO beads missing! Very traditional design. Chevron pattern design of bead work. These were appraised by in 2006 by Wanda M Hosford. A.S.A. Accredited Senior Appraiser. American Society of Appraisers. These could be child's or woman cuffs as to the size. ANTIQUE ZUNI POTTERY OWL MUHUKWI MEDICINE RELIGION NATIVE AMERICAN RARE!
This Zuni Owl is very unusual in that in place of the usual black. White and red polychrome it is grey-on-grey with yellow eyes and beak stripe. The colors look fugitive, but are definitely fired onto the ceramic. The tail, which I would judge to have been about the size of the wings, is missing as I received it. I would place period of creation in the 1930s to 1940s, but could be way off. There is no signature or other identification other than the form. Stands 7 1/2-inches high and has a wingspan of 6-inches. Vent hole is under the stirrup beak. The piece is charming, unusual, valuable and guaranteed authentic. It will be double boxed to assure safe arrival thus the premium on shipping. According to the Zuni. Owls can see what others cannot and this is a large part of owl(Muhukwi) medicine which is a reminder of the importance of both worlds; ... morethe physical and the spiritual, the known and the unknown. In this world-view, the willingness and courage to transform the unknown in ourselves into the known is a true source of wisdom. The Zuni Pueblo people call the owl“the Night Grandfather” because he does his work at night. Clairvoyant properties and uncovering deception have always been associated with Owl. Its connection with wisdom comes from Owl’s ability to discern that which cannot be“seen. The Zuni believe that an owl feather placed in a baby’s crib keeps evil spirits away from the infant. I bought this item at a trading post in Bluff. Utah ca. 1992. During that time I was living and working in Zuni, had seen bizillions of pottery owls, but never one like this. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS! I will happily ship anywhere provided you communicate with me before bidding. With a valid street address and postal code I can calculate the most economical method of shipment and you must agree to it. Obviously. You will be responsible for duties and whatever other premiums apply. I will charge an additional $15 for international packaging plus the cost of the shipping. However, I will waive that premium if you live somewhe

UNUSUAL ANTIQUE TRIBAL / NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN CLAY DOLL SCULPTURE ~ BEADED ~
Only offered once at this opening bid. Up for auction is an original old tribal doll made out of clay. It's heavy! The tribe affiliation. I don't know. I'm not sure if it's African or Native American Indian. It's an old one. That's for sure. The doll/ sculpture measures approximately 9" x 4.5" I know one of the arms looks like it might have broken off but it didn't. That's just how the doll was made. What did break off was the head on the tiny papoose that still remains in the back. Tucked away. The body of the papoose is still there. the head is no longer. It is not a free standing doll and will need a stand or you can prop it up on a shelf. When viewing the pictures of the auction item. Please take note of the*actual measurements* of the item in description. In some cases. Photos are enlarged to ... moreshow detail. Condition as pictured. Please see photos for reference. antique native american OJIBWA BEADED LEGGINGS large awesome Ojibway Chippewa
Here. I'm offering a wonderful pair of antique Ojibwa leggings. They are very old with beautiful folk art wildflowers beaded into gorgeous antique velvet. The remnants of buckskin thong ties sprout on the sides. They may go back to the late 19th century? or early 20th? They were found by a previous owner in a Chicago antique store decades ago. They are large and I had them displayed flat on my wall like a tapestry and they were charming. They measure over 28 inches when displayed flat side by side making an impressive suitable for framing display. They are 12" tall and up to 15" across the top of the tapering legging. As you can see they are beautiful but alas there is some damage to the little beaded garden. At some point in their history they were poorly stored and some dark mildew stain disintegrated areas of the pumpkin ... moreorange edge trim and stained the muslin backing. This is not presently active. When I collected them. I swabbed them with alcohol and lightly cleansed them with Woolite. iI hung them in open air for years. There is also some black stains on the velvet background of one cuff and a tiny amount of bead loss peppering a few flowers. This damage created a blackened look and various discoloration with missing material in small areas. I have not sought out the services of a dry cleaner which may help. Of course many of you would. Rightly, not wish to permanently alter an antique such as this, but clever cover-ups for a framed display could be temporarily added to hide the flaws. Inserting carefully matched painted cloth tape bits should be amazingly effective. You may be able to harvest the orange fabric from some damaged period Iroquois pouches for a more serious restoration. Powwow dancers might like to enclose these edges in fresh beadwork or a protective cloth border. The back cloth could be covered as well. Mounting the leggings onto pants for safekeeping would also work nicely too. These are a beautiful glistening meadow from yesteryear.sure to please your daydreams. THANKS Please

Large Antique Vintage Native American Basket Bowl Container
Large Antique Vintage Native American Basket Bowl Container. This is a beautiful and old basket I believe to be Native American. Honestly I am not sure. However, I have included many photos to help you identify the basket. It is a large piece measuring 8 inches tall, 11 inches in diameter at its widest, 7 3/4 inches diameter across the top, 6 1/2 inches across the bottom. It is a bundle coiled basket, it does have missing stitches as you can see from the photos, but this basket is solid and firm. It is quite dusty on top, but I will not attempt to clean it. It sits a bit lopsided, not sure if this is from age, use, or done when it was made. Does not distract from the beauty of this basket in my opinion.
