Home of many significant Native American tribes. ... moreThis offering is sure delight a serious collector. He will appeal to fine art. Doll or historical collectors as you will not find another early example like it ever again. He is 20" long. The clothing is all hand made and there are several layers of fine antique materials. There is some damage because the material is very frail and brittle. As expected of a doll this old. There are a couple of minor stains near the hem but believe me, these will hardly deflect from the charm of this historic doll. The head appears to be made of paper mâché or cloth and it is extremely heavy! Based on feeling the upper. It seems that the head is part of a chest plate. One arm has completely lost its filling. A good conservator could repair it. The body is made of fabrics and sawdust. One of the strands of beads is broken but the beads are gorgeous! This doll likely belongs in a museum. The former owner said it came from a museum and that the doll contained an original museum tag. She pointed out that the tag was written on with a quill pen and it certainly appears that way. See all pictures for details. You will not want to miss out on this piece of early Native American history! I am more than happy to ship internationally and only charge actual shipping costs. Vintage Antique Alaskan Aleut Basket 1901 Pan American Exposition Native Indian
This. I believe, is an Alaskan Aleut basket. The star design on the bottom is combined with"01" on the sides. The Pan-American Exposition took place in Buffalo, New York in 1901. There was a hall devoted to Ethnology and a strong Native American presence at this expo as well as being an easy trip from Pittsburgh. Measuring 1.75" tall and 5.5" wide, it is a nice, small basket. The doll is in good condition but some of the beads are missing and this could use some work from a restorer so that this piece does not lose anymore beads. Up for auction is an antique early twentieth century Native American Indian Northwest Coast Nuu-chah-nulth twined flaring/rain/chapeaux-style basketry hat. Features a plaited start at the top of the hat. And three twined multi-colored bands(natural grass yellow, green, and grey-blue) around the circumference of hat and visible on the interior-design elements indicative of the Nuu-chah-nulth culture. Measures 13" across at the base. 5-1/2" tall. Hat is rich with patina from its age, and possible use. Antique Tomahawk/ Ax, may be Native American or Asian (India). No Reserve!
For sale is an antique Tomahawk/ Ax from unknown origin. Could be Native American origin but also Asian(India) The wooden handle is 18 1/2" long. The weathered iron blade is circa 6" x 3" The head is fixed to the handle with a leather strap and some thin copper wire. A nail(visible on one of the pictures) is used to fix the head. Thin copper wire is also used to decorate the handle. On the top of the handle an interesting metal(also copper? ornament with a flower motif is fixed with four small nails to hold the leather strap. Please note: Although I usually sell Antique Native American objects. I cannot guarantee this tomahawk to be Native American. It is clearly very old and weathered with good patina. To my knowledge comparable tomahawks were used in Asia(India) in the 19th Century. I acquired this tomahawk some 30 years ... moreago on an auction in the Netherlands from the estate of an arms collector. Then the origin was unknown and described as Native American or Asian. Rare Antique Native American Gunstock War Club/ Plains Indian-Sioux/ Knife Blade
Plains Indian Gunstock War Club ~ Native American- 19th Century ~ please scroll down for more photos ~ SIZE: Length- 30.5" Width(at wide end) 5" Thickness- 0.75" Blade Length- 6" DESCRIPTION: Fine old Native American- Great Plains Indian wood and metal gunstock club decorated with brass tacks and with a steel or iron blade. Probably dates from the mid to late 19th century and possibly of Sioux origin. The wood is very hard and looks to be tiger maple or something similar. The brass tacks. Or some of them, may be a later addition, as some of the scratches to the club's wood surface run under some of the tacks. But the tacks look very old and are at least late 19th century. The form of the club is slender and beautifully shaped- becoming thinner on both ends. Very nicely proportioned when viewed from any angle. The blade ... morelooks to be steel or iron. Is slightly domed on one side and concave on the other. It has a small indented area or'shoulder' on one side, near the club and it looks like part of an old bayonet or skinning knife. There may be faint markings on it, but if so, they are very worn(see photos of the blade- side showing shoulder- near the club end) The blade is held into a carved or cut slot in the club, affixed by a metal peg and there appears to be lead(bullet lead) pushed into the slot in the club to hold the knife blade tight. The thicker'gunstock' part of the club has a decorative figure eight shape cut into it. The handle is thinner and ends in a circular shape with a hole cut into it. Used to tie a cord onto. There are tacks on both sides of the club. Around the figure eight cut-out and along the bottom edge of the club, as well as around the edge of the handle(59 tacks, total- none missing) AGE: Circa mid to late 19th century. Or earlier. Pair of Antique 1890's Native American Sioux Indian Moccasins.
At auction. Is a very unique piece of plans Indian Sioux beaded moccasins. These are probably from the late 1880s early 1890s. They are incredibly good shape for their age, and don't appear to ever have been worn. There about 9 inches in length and probably were made for a woman. The soles are stained with various things, but there are no rips and tears in anything that I could see. The beadings appears to be intact and of the right color and consistency for the Sioux Indians of the plains area of the United States. I am starting the auction at a very modest opening bid. Construction is most typical of the older Apache drums. Rather different& from the& other southwest or plains nations. The hand painted artwork is worn on the surface but remains bright and unfaded. The wood hoop is solid with no cracks or warping. The drum was photographed in sunlight and the brightness washed out the areas that have the dirt of the ages on it. There are areas that show frequent handling, and it has not be cleaned off. One tear is coming up from the outside edge, it was there years ago when I acquired the drum and has not changed over time. No water damage. Purchased from a Denver estate the inside of the drum has the name of the first collector ... moreof the piece written in old style dip pen ink. Here is an antique. Authentic and traditional MAKAH/ NOOTKA Basket from the 1935 range(1925-1940) which is in Excellent condition for age. The design includes four geometric S shapes and fine looking bands of green and orange, as well as a red and yellow star or sunburst type pattern on the lid. The weave is very fine at about 16 wefts per inch. There are NO missing or broken weaves/wefts within the inside or outside of the basket and the rim is in excellent condition. Wonderful Antique Silver Bracelet with an inlaid design of a Zuni dancer. The image is a large white mother of pearl background with an inlaid design using other stone materials including turquoise and black onyx. I know very little about native american items so will describe this the best I can and have included lots of pics. So what I think we have here is an antique Native American pouch. Not sure if this was for medicine or tobacco or what have you but it does appear to be some sort of leather pouch. It also has beautiful beadwork in black. Blue and white colors. The entire pouch measures about 6.25" long by 5" wide. The beadwork measures about 4 5/8" long by 3.25" wide. The beadwork is simply sewed on but just a few threads at the top and top left edges. It appears to be in fairly good shape with general wear to the leather and then less wear to the beadwork, just as pictured. I had a friend suggest this might be Sioux in origin but I personally have no idea. I clean out house for a living and i found this in the basement of a old house You can tell it was hand woven Circa 1900 it measures 60 inches wide and 77 inches long. the blanket or rug does need to be cleaned. Winking Antique Fiber Seminole Doll Native American Indian
This is my favorite Seminole doll of my collection. She has the best face with a stitched crooked mouth. A winking eye framed with black yarn hair, plus a sweet little sculpted fiber nose. The doll is made from palm frond fiber which is very traditional to the Seminole Indians. Dressed in bright but faded colored fabric, the woman who made this doll dressed her in the likeness of herself and the other Seminole women she knew. The flowing top and skirt kept a Seminole woman cooler with the air circulating around rather than if the clothing was tight to the body. This doll is in great condition for her age- her arms are even still in place. On the bottom of the fiber body, you can read the print of an old box. Antique Victorian Glass Beaded Cuff Bracelet, Poss Plains Indian/Native American
Up for auction is a very interesting item. Very unique. It came from the an estate here in North Texas, it had belonged to the great grandmother of the woman. The glass beads do date to pre 1900. As shown in the photos the beads are uneven and some soiled. There are 3 bands of smaller white beads with four blood red diamonds with a white bead in the center. Al the beading appears to be hand done, no loom. The beads are connected with thread. There is no damage or missing beads, there is dirt, I did not attempt to clean this super old item.

Antique Native American Indian hand carved Birch Wood Club/ Tool. tribe unknown) measures 27 1/4" total length with the clawed root measuring 7 1/2" x 7" The birch branch is knotched the length of the shaft with a carved face right below the fingered claw. The root claw is perfectly balanced and when place on a flat surface it has the same percision as a pry bar. Could have been used as some type of tool or weapon but it definately a 100 year old piece. some of the birch bark can be seen on the tip of the handle and right below the face carving. Still in excellent condition. And still very solid there is a few chips on the edge of the prong points but that's really it! Vintage 1920's Native American Birch Basket. I do not know what tribe to ascribe this item to. But it was appare ntly from Minnesota. Made of birch bark including the bottom. The scalloped trim at the top and bottom is also birch bark. But the bark is turned over expo sing the cambium surface. All is sewn together with some type of vine used as string. Everything is made of organic. Natural material, except for the label on the bottom from the shop I purchased it from some 25 years a go. Measures 8. 75 inches tall, 8.5 in diameter@ the top& 7 at the base. A very nice well preser ved basket for it's almost 100 year age.
