Indian Wars RARE 1888 Brass Pin ~ PRE CIVIL WAR This is one of the most interesting and amazing military items I have come across. I took this to a military appraiser and he had never seen anything like this. He said it was from the Indian Wars and is dated Aug. 24. 1888. It appears that it possibly went on a hat of some kind, but, I just do not have a clue. May have been attached to the uniform and then a medal of some kind hung from it. This is a very rare find and hard for the appraiser because he could not find anything about it.VERY RARE and PRICELESS.a real treasure to add to your collection. Large Antique Brass Engraved Dish Table Top Persian Indian C19th or Earlier This is a beautiful large heavy brass dish or table top decorated with a raised shaped edge and engraved on the rim with decorative panels of animals and birds among flowers- curious and attractive. I'd date it to the nineteenth century. But it could be earlier. Size: about 17 inches across( 43 cm) Weight: 1907 grammes Condition: fair- There is a lot of wear to the engraving. The centre of the dish is plain. But has four rivet heads arranged in a square with minor denting around them- what they are for I don't know as they serve no useful purpose now- looking at the back it is evident that a second dish has been soldered on over these a long time ago, and then a pair of hanging rings have been added later to enable it to be hung on a wall. There are minor ... moredents and scratches but the overall appearance is good. see the photographs. Unusual Antique Miniature Micmac Indian Splint Ash Basket w/ Very Pointy Twists
Up for auction is a beautiful and unusual little antique splint ash Indian basket with a bentwood ash handle. The basket was woven by a talented weaver of the Micmac tribe from the Northeast- these very pointy points and fine construction are a hallmark of this tribe. It would have been made for a child. Possibly to hold candy. The basket has terrific details, and the points are beautifully crafted. The basket also has the most gorgeous aged patina that I've seen in a long time. This patina is distinctly lighter on the underside, another indicator of honest age. A very nice and unusual old basket! The basket measures just 2½" across at the rim. 1¾" deep, and 4" tall to the top of the handle. This beautiful basket is in really outstanding condition for its age, which I estimate to be from around the turn of the ... morelast century. None of the twists are shattered or missing, although a couple of them have splits along the grain of the wood(these splits may have been there from the time the basket was woven. There are also a couple of damaged splints on the body of the basket, but the basket still has an awesome display quality. The handle is still firmly attached on both sides. I have taken photos of all sides so you can see. This is an attractive authentic old NE Native American basket from the Micmac tribe, and it will make a terrific addition to someone's collection. Small open baskets perhaps to hold buttons etc and scissors case baskets added into this style basket. so these were frequently used to hold sewing items. Basket shown is 7" square on the bottom. This is a Great Primitive East Coast Basket about 150 years old. I was told it was an Abenaqui Indian basket by two experts in the Indian basket area. As you can see. It has some old, funky repairs done many years ago to keep this basket in useable working condition. It was found in Wolfboro NH which is the oldest summer resort in the U.S.A. The pytina is great!
