Antique Indo - Persain or Indian Tulwar Sword Saber & Scabbard Silver inlay
This is a very fine Indian or Indo-Persian Tulwan sword. It has great silver inlay on the blade and the hilt. The hilt is iron and the silver has worn off so you can only see small trace amounts of it left. The scabbard is wood with a silk covering that is falling apart. But is original to the sword. Many time has have been given new scabbard over the year, and this looks to be at least one of the fist scabbard for this sword. The sword is in great condition with a bright and shiny blade with lots of silver inlay, and a crest the is brass or gold inlay. Very good item. This is a 4" X 2 1/4" tintype dating to circa 1870. The subject is a rare image of a Native American Indian in his corn husk costume. As you can see. His outfit is made entirely of corn husks, possibly for a ceremony or celebration. Yes, the condition is not good. It appears it was once folded in half and possibly hit with buckshot. ANTIQUE Indian Rug? Blanket? Throw? This piece appears hand woven. And great care was taken to ensure it had a good binding on the back to keep it from fraying. The colors are still VERY VIBRANT, and beautiful. This piece was loomed in 2 pieces. There is a seam down the middle(in center the pink stripe) The yarns(cotton? wool? are very finely twisted which leads me to believe they were hand spun. They are not interlocked fibers. They are'spun' The back binding is what really intrigues me.the first layer appears to be a homespun loose weave fabric and there is a machine sewn'leaf' patterned design embroidered on it. Antique 19th-20th Cen 1800s-1900s Iroquois Northeast Woodsland Indian Beaded Bag
A Very Good. Clean Condition Iroquois or Northeast Woodlands Indian Beaded Bag. Possibly used as a tobacco, Medicine pouch, bag or purse. Size of bag is approximately 5" long by 4 5/8" wide and has a 5" handle(10" total) The bead work is a fantastic design with terrific coloration. The entire bag aside from the beads is fabric. I am guessing that it is very late 1800s or early 1900s in age. There is no indication of repairs ever being done and it would make a fantastic collector's display piece. It has been stored in dark drawers by the last two owners, so the colors have remained bright and it has little to no fading to the item that I can detect. Please refer to all of the pictures. Up for consideration are 2 souvenir Indian Drums obtained as a kid on the family summer vacations. Both I would believe to be from the late 1960's and gotten at Wisc. Dells and Mount Rushmore. Both in decent shape considering their age and originals from ol time Americana. The hand drum is missing a bell. It is about the same as a cats collar bell and could be replaced. The skin is excellent. The larger drum has a split in the printed head around the edge but still displays nicely. Bottom head shows wear but is not split. No beater on the big one. Both in relatively good displayable shape and spent most of their time on my dresser as a kid. Thinning out personal collection of just about everything you can think of!
