Antique 19th Century Indian Bronze Statue Shiva Nataraja God Of Dance, Excellent
This is an antique Indian bronze statue which depicts Siva Nataraja in the sacred dance of universal creation and destruction. For all cycles. All mortal lives and civilizations, all universes come into existence and come to an end. It is Shiva as Nataraja, The Great Lord of Time, who ignites the dissolution and creation of the universe at the beginning and the end of cycles. His dance is dynamic and uncontrollably wild as he moves through the 108 forms and movements. In his upper hand, Nataraja holds a drum shaped like an hourglass the damaru. His upper left hand signifies Agni fire or destruction. The opposing concepts in the upper hands show the counterpoise of creation and destruction. A cobra uncoils from his lower right forearm. Shiva dances with a ferocious arch of flames and stands atop a dwarf that is representative of the dissolution ... moreof ignorance. His countenance is lucid calm; stillness amongst movement. This 19th century Indian bronze, molded through the lost wax process exhibits excellent detail, the perfect counterpoint to the strength and cosmic dynamism of this deity. Antique Indian Bidriware. Bidri, Silver Inlaid Circular Plate Probably: Hyderabad. Southern India Search This is a small antique Bidriware circular tashtari(plate) ornamented with two borders. Each being different. The circular slightly concave plate has a central rosette. Birds, floral motifs and vine creepers surround the rosette to the silver scrolling vine border. The plate has a mend from the original casting- as the inlay has not been disturbed and is complete on the surface over the mend. The plate has used the Tarkashi technique and Tehnishan technique. The silver inlay is basically intact and in excellent condition. From other similar examples I have seen this Bidriware plate probably dates from mid 19th to early 20th century. Offered is a wonderful antique Madras Indian solid silver dish wine coaster? that measures 4.5 inches in diameter by about three-quarters of an inch tall from top to bottom. The piece is in great used condition with a small amount of tarnish around and on its intricate surfaces.I did a very simple and quick cleaning of the piece. For sale is a very unique Native American Indian FIGURAL MIRROR made by Rogers Silver Plate Co. This is very neat and heavy. Just look at the cool mirror. You can see the Native with the arrow& bow. Etc. I have never seen another of these! It does have an issue or two worth noting- as you can see near the bottom there is a bit of a crack that I tried to show- also, I am unsure how this would have"sat up" as it does not really have a leg? I am unsure if something else was attached somewhere that I am missing or if it hung a certain way? Or was just intended to lean? I am unsure but it may have had some sort of a metal leg that attached somehow that would need a replacement. Regardless this is a very scarce figural piece that would be a must have in a collection! ANTIQUE FOLK ART NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN WOOD DOORSTOP AND TEEPEES
This is an original 19th century handmade- hand painted wood Indian doorstop. This is not made by American Indians. But rather a painted view of an American Indian. It is a wonderful piece of folk art that dates to around the middle of the 19th century. The hand cut piece of wood definitely is an early piece measuring 12 1/4" x 6" and is a solid 3/4" thick. This solid piece of wood is in great shape. The only damage to the wood is a pinch on the upper left that you can see in the pictures. It stands very stable with no problem at all. The painted image is a wonderful Indian in full headdress. Great condition& very clean. The original background paint is still strong. There are 2 hand carved fleur de lis above and below the Indian which were incredibly done. The artist took great concern for detail on this piece. The top ... moreand side edges are still the original green paint. The back is painted in the original black. The doorstop piece is a piece of wood covered with aluminum or tin that has the original paint as well as tacks that were used to attach it to the wood. The patina is all original-just an outstanding piece of folk art that is the perfect size for display and it stands on its own. It would be quite impossible to find another one of these in this quality original paint. Included with sale of this item is 2 teepees which look great displayed next to the doorstop. Beautiful original oak frame, prints are marked at bottom national art co 1909, the prints are great, all three prints are of the same man one looking full on, one in profile and center print man has full ceremonial head dress on, just incredible, all three prints are in great shape! not faded out which is rare for prints that are 105 years old, the prints measures 8 1/2 inches by 6 inches and total frame measures 23 inches by 11 inches, needs hanger in back otherwise mint, this are rare and beautiful works of art,hope they go to a good home or collection, item sold as is thanks and good luck
