Sadly that is all I know about it. Very large flags were usually used on ships or government buildings I believe it is made of linen and all of the stars are sewn on both sides. Grommets appear to be brass Oklahoma became the 46th state to join the union with what was previously called the Indian Territories The flag is in generally good condition and is very clean. This auction is for a pair of unusual vintage/antique tribal hunting arrows from Northwest India(Rajasthan) There are many groups in the area who either use or have used bows and arrows in the recent past and I am not sure what group made these. The tips are forged from steel and are roughly sagittate in form(arrowhead-shaped) The shafts are made from a species of reed or cane similar to giant reed(Arundo donax) or phragmites. The feathers are smallish and in poor condition/probably damaged by insects. Binding is native thread. The compound nocks are interesting(see pictures) Probably early 20th century. This is a beautiful piece dating mid 19th Century 1864-1880. Measures 8-1/2" tall to the tip of the lid. Bowl 6-1/2" tall, 9" across. 6-3/4" at the base. The piece shows some wear: crazing. Stains, long hairline crack and a chip on the inside of the bowl; hairline crack on the lid. Overall it is in fine condition for the age. It would be a fantastic addition to any collection. They made them for the Northwest Fur Company and later for the Hudson Bay Company, and they became an important article of barter throughout the Great Lakes region. The mid 19 th century sashes were widely used by Canadian fur traders and French voyagers. Called Jarretierrs, in the Great lake region and all the way to northern Nebraska. Finger-woven in two panels, these colorful sashes are called a‘Ceinture Flechée’ The Métis Indians also handmade Ceintures Fléchées in the Red River area and use them as part of their national costume. Not counting the 36” long fringes on either end. This sash measures 7” wide by 82” long for a total length of 155” or 12 foot 9 inches long. The sash would be wrapped 3 times around the waist, and would hold a jacket closed and hold knives, guns and other items needed on the trail. Pair of Antique Islamic Indian Solid Silver Salt Cellars, Kutch?, ~1880?
This is for a pair of antique solid silver salt cellars. I'm not an expert on these things but a search of completed listings on Ebay suggest that these might have been hand made in Kutch. India, around 1880? They are beautifully intricate, with swirling repousse foliage and scrolls and stand on three pretty feet. They are 3.4cm tall, with a belly of 5cm in diameter. One weighs 32gm and the other weighs 34gm. I've just noticed that they are slightly different in design underneath but are otherwise identical. Condition: one has one small dent in the side, the other has two smaller dents in the side and one of the feet is slightly pushed inwards. New Mexico ANTIQUE Dug Up Iron Indian Spear Lance point 1850
I have a good friend who is a serious metal detecting enthusiast. He covers a lot of the remote areas of northern New Mexico looking for iron relics. This hand forged iron Indian spear point is overall 13 1/2” long and almost 1/4” thick at the shaft. It was found in an old Indian camp on the Canadian River near Springer. New Mexico about 5 years ago. Good camp sites, one used a 150 years ago are still good spots today. That’s how you locate these places. Then you hope you get lucky. I'd guess it dates to the mid 1800s, no markings. Indians acquired these points as trade items. Typically. River crossings are always problematic and a spot horsemen are always loosing stuff, still do today. I expect some poor Indian had a horse blow up on the bank as he was coming out, maybe it was steep or too slippery and the fellow dropped the lance or ... morethe iron point may or been loose and just dropped off the shaft.
