EXTREMELY RARE ANTIQUE BOOMERANG - FINE OLD ABORIGINAL CARVINGS - SUPERB PATINA
I am having a clear out of some of my wonderful antiques and collectables that I have collected over many years. On offer is an amazing antique boomerang. I am told this is a very rare old thing so any info would be greatly appreciated. It features various tribal carvings which I have tried my best to photograph in daylight. It has a wonderful patina and looks to have lots of age to it. It measures approx. 24" from tip to tip. Very good overall condition although it has 2 small holes with wire threaded through where it has been displayed on a wall. Also one end looks to have a missing piece(see last photo) still a fantastic old thing. It will be a long time before you see another as good. Antique Australian Boomerang Inscribed 1944 Authentic Old Ethnic Aboriginal NoR
Old Australian Boomerang I don't know enough about Australian boomerangs to date this one. But I know it's at least 70 years old. It is inscribed as presented to R. Cline in 1944. Ruby Cline was a 1918 graduate of the University of Missouri and taught women's physical education there for many years. She traveled widely, and this boomerang was presented to her by J. A. Fraser. The'VX21313' was his WW II service number. The'V' stands for Victoria State, though he wrote Brisbane(Queensland state) on the boomerang. Written in ink: To Miss R. Cline with All good wishes From VX21313 J. A. Fraser Brisbane 11-11-44 I also don't know what kind of wood this boomerang was carved from. It is dark and dense with black streaks. It is roughly fashioned. The surface is covered with grooves and scraping marks. One side is flat. ... moreAnd the other convex. Unusual Antique Australian Figural Silver Plated Knife Rest Kangaroo Boomerang
The leaf is 12.5 cm x almost 5 cm. At its tallest(where the kangaroo stands) it is just slightly over 5.5 cm. It is marked EPNS(with what looks like a phoenix between and'Made in Australia' and'Dunklings' impressed underneath the leaf. I think it could be from the Victorian age but could be a little later- not sure. I have a figural napkin ring listed which is very similar in design. I will combine postage. Beautiful Antique 1942 Zenith 6D2615 Boomerang Radio - Restored & Working
Here is a really nice pre-war Zenith table radio. The 6D2615-N Consol-Tone sometimes referred to as a"boomerang dial" because of the shape of the dial. This set has been completely restored and pulls in stations all over the dial. It has sound as beautiful as the cabinet that lives up to the Consol-Tone moniker Zenith placed on these sets. The electrical restoration consisted of replacement of all paper and electrolytic capacitors. All out of tolerance resistors, and all weak tubes. New dial lights, a new power cord and an inline power fuse were all installed. The controls were cleaned and the set was aligned. With the combination of the built-in Wavemagnet loop antenna and RF amplifier stage this set is very sensitive and has no problem pulling in those distant AM stations. The cabinet was stripped of the original finish. Grain ... morefilled, toned, and multiple coats of clear lacquer were applied. A new plastic dial cover and reproduction knobs were installed. The set is complete with its original back cover. This is one sharp looking set. The dimensions of this radio are 14"W x 9"H x 8"D and the weight is 9.5 lbs before being packed. I have 3 of these old wooden hand carved items up for auction. They have come out of an attic clearance so I don't really know a lot about them apart fro what I can actually see! This item looks aboriginal but maybe Moari? It is a boomerang and measures approx 26 cm long It has an emu hand carved on it. Apologies but also have no idea of its age. The house clearance was for a very old lady whoses family had done a lot of travelling around the world, so I really don't know if it's 20, 50 or 100 years old! RARE Antique or Historical Australian Aboriginal Boomerang
We have owned this item for many years but remember the gentleman that sold it claims that he found it in the outback after a grader was resurfacing a road. We believe his story is indeed correct and that this is a very early item. What is evident is that this was never finished as a boomerang. It is however a documentary piece that gives us a clue what the intermediate steps were involved in its design and a boomerangs design. The end has a broken piece and quite possibly the reason why it was discarded. It is in untouched as found condition. Perhaps worthy of a museum. Antique Australian Aboriginal/Aborigine Hunting-Fighting Boomerang
Antique Aboriginal Hunting Boomerang This great condition boomerang was brought over to the United States by my late Australian parents in the late 1940s or early 1950s(they went back and forth until finally getting permanent resident status in the late 50s) My father was a WWII war correspondent. Artist, and reporter back in those days, and was a leading voice in American-Australian relations at the time, so we have quite a bit of Australiana in their estate(and other countries as well from his 60+ countries of travel as a correspondent and lecturer) This is one of several boomerangs they always had around the house from before I was born in 1960. It is likely mulga wood. And designed for hunting/fighting going by the design(weighted more on the decorated end) Carved stripes on the heavier side. HERE WE HAVE A FINE EXAMPLE OF A RESTORED FONDLY CALLED THE"BOOMERANG" BY ZENITH.MOST OF THE BOOMERANGS THAT YOU SEE ARE AM RADIOS ONLY WHICH SETS THIS ONE APART. I CAME ACROSS THIS RADIO A WHILE BACK WHERE THE CABINET HAD BEEN REFINISHED SHORTLY BEFORE MY PURCHASE AND IT IS A BEAUTIFUL RADIO EXCEPT IF YOU ZOOM IN YOU WILL NOTICE WHERE THE BLACK SHOULD BE TOUCHED UP RIGHT ABOVE THE SPEAKER AND ON SOME AREAS AROUND THE CABINETS BASE. THE ELECTRONICS"CHASSIS" HAS BEEN FRESHLY RESTORED AND HAS HAD A FULL RESTORATION WHICH INCLUDED REPLACING"ALL" CAPACITORS.TESTING ALL TUBES AND RESISTORS AND REPLACING ANY THAT WERE OUT OF SPECS ALONG WITH A PROPER ALIGNMENT AND A NEW POWER CORD.THIS RADIO WITH PROPER CARE WILL LAST FOR MANY YEARS TO COME. THE SPEAKER IS IN EXCELLENT ... moreCONDITION AND THIS ZENITH PLAYS LOUD AND STRONG WITH PERFECT CLARITY.THIS RADIO RETAINS IT'S ORIGINAL LOOP ANTENNA AND DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU LIVE A LONG ANTENNA WIRE MIGHT BE NEEDED TO RECEIVE STATIONS ON SHORTWAVE. THE DIAL LENSE AND KNOBS ARE NEW EXACT REPRODUCTION REPLACEMENTS AND LOOK VERY NICE. ALL RADIOS ARE PACKED VERY WELL WITH LARGE BUBBLE WRAP AND PEANUTS TO ENSURE A SAFE DELIVERY TO YOUR HOME.
