African Tribal shield and metal spear - handmade hide skin Zulu Masai
Large African tribal animal hide painted shield and handmade long spear plus decorative leather and feather item. The shield is animal hide painted in a tribal design and stretched over a wooden frame. It measures approximately 45" by 22" Long spear is two parts metal with one part wood to join them. I'm no expert but it appears to be handmade hand forged. Overall measures 80 inches long. Shown in two pieces the top part measures approximately 28 inches with a 2 inch wide flat point. The bottom metal part measures approximately 42 inches and tapers down to a point and the wooden part is pretty well stuck into one of the metal pieces but when put together completely the wood that is exposed measures approximately 10 inches. The leather straping and feathers piece measures approximately 12 inches long overall. I believe they are ... moreemu feathers maybe ostrich. I'm not sure if this is supposed to be attached to the shield for the spear or if it belongs to something else altogether. I do not know much more about these items but feel free to ask questions and I will do my best to answer.

The Bangala is the generic name given to the peoples who live in the forest Equatorial region in the northern part of Congo. among them the Basoko. The UPoto, Ngombe, Zande, Mangbetu, Topoke, Ngbandi, Ngbaka, Budja and so forth. This particular spear may came from the Basoko compare to some examples housed in the Royal Museum of Central Africa at Tervuren-Belgium. These people have to face inter-ethnic wars and the wild life of the forest and all kind of dangerous animals. For these reasons they have developed a broad range of weapons to protect themselves and also for hunting. In the ancient time, they had also to defend themselves against colonial power. Thus, spears like this served as arms during a warrior and also as an object of high prestige, this last function is the most important today. In some ethnic groups, spears were used as currency in payment of the dowry to the wife's family during a marriage process. For similar piece see Roberto Ballari. Long Hefty Antique North African Sword Katar Spear
Long Hefty Antique North African Sword Katar Spear Prev Stop Play Next This is a very long sword measuring 35”(89cm) in total length with a 29.25”(74.35cm) spear pointed blade. The blade has a fuller in its’ middle. This sword has a very large hilt with a square. Flat guard that connects to a curved metal pommel. The grip is metal with horn segments. I would judge that this sword was made for a cavalry, and fits perfectly into a large hand. The light pitting to both sides of the fuller part of blade does not detract. No Scabbard.

Vintage African Spear, Set of 2 Hand Forged - 1 over 5 feet, 1 over 7 feet long!
Up for auction are 2 vintage African Spears. I believe them to be hand forged. One is 5 feet. 6 inches long, and the bigger one is 7 feet, 1/2 inch. The middles are wood with black tape. I don't know from which particular area they are from, but my client has said they are vintage African. Very nice condition! Would make excellent display pieces! THE FINE PRINT: Greetings! I do my best to describe items accurately. HOWEVER, I AM NOT AN EXPERT IN THESE ITEMS. I hope you are happy with your purchase. If there is a challenge, please contact me, so we can resolve it. Items sold here are almost exclusively pre-owned vintage. Rare or antique items which are estate finds, or come from my consignors. Please take this in to account when bidding, as many will show age. But I do my best to give you an accurate description of the condition and any ... moreflaws I see. All items are shipped from a non-smoking home. However, from time to time I may have a consigned item from a smoker’s home. If I notice an odor, I will note it in the listing. I try and think of all the different angles to take pictures. If I've forgotten something. Please let me know what you'd like to see. Please pay within 2 days of purchase. If you are not going to pay within 2 days- PLEASE DO NOT BID. SERIOUSLY. I’ve seen similar statements for years on EBay. And thought, That sounds a little harsh, what’s the problem? Of course, they’ll pay, they bid, didn’t they? Well, the problem is a lot a people bid and either think it’s fine to pay in 3 weeks, which it’s not, or they never pay. I do my best to be a good seller; I want to do business with honest buyers. Also, EBay will automatically open an unpaid case against you after 4 days. This could hurt your buying ability in the future. Positive feedback is very much appreciated. Please leave positive feedback after you receive your item. And I will do the same for you. I strive to mail your items out the next business day after payment is received(Monday through Friday) Occasionally. It takes me 2 busines

The field of Sahara Neolithic Artifacts was expanded by the advent of GPS technology for meteorite hunters in the Sahara Desert. Thousands of years ago North Africa was a temperate environment similar to our own Great Plains. Countless generations of Stone-Age Man lived. Hunted, fought and died there, leaving behind their weapons and tools. Today, North Africa consists largely of the Sahara Desert, an inhospitable area almost the size of the United States. Constantly shifting sands and the ability to now safely travel off of established trade routes have expanded this fascinating field of study by making these artifacts available to scholars and collectors around the world.

Rare Antique Oceanic/African Tribal War Hard Wood Spear
I BOUGHT THIS PRIMITIVE HARD WOOD WAR SPEAR IN AN ESTATE AUCTION OF AN AVID COLLECTOR OF PRIMITIVE ARMS/WEAPONS. I WAS TOLD THIS IS A GENUINE TRIBAL WAR SPEAR. WHAT MAKE THIS SET SO UNIQUE ARE THAT: 1) THIS SPEAR WAS MADE OF HEAVY AND HARD WOOD WITHOUT METAL. WHICH MAY INDICATE THAT IT IS AN EARLY FORM SPEAR WHEN METAL WAS SCARE TO NATIVE PEOPLE. 2) THERE ARE TWO SET OF SHARP SPIKES INSTEAD OF ONE IN MOST OF SPEARS. 3) THE BODY OF THE SPEAR WAS DECORATED BY SURROUNDING THREE SET OF RED FIBRICS. WHICH TIES BIRD FEATHERS. YOU CAN SEE THERE ARE STILL A FEW FEATHERS AND THEIR RESIDUES LEFT UNDER THESE FABRICS. 4) THIS SPEAR PROBABLY WAS MADE AS A THROWING SPEAR SINCE ONE SIDE OF IT IS FLAT. WHICH CAN INCREASE ITS CONTACT TO A SPEAR THROWER. SECOND, IT IS RELATIVE SHORT LENGTH 51" THIRD, IT USED TO CONTAIN FEATHERS, WHICH MAY BALANCE THE ... moreFLYING. I AM QUITE SURE THIS TRIBAL WAR SPEAR WERE MADE FOR USING BY NATIVE PEOPLE. NOT FOR TOURISTS. I HAVE NOT FOUND VERY SIMILAR SPEARS DURING MY RESEARCH. I SUSPECT THE ORIGIN OF THIS SPEAR IS MORE FROM OCEANIC ISLANDS ALTHOUGH I CAN NOT EXCLUDE AFRICAN CONTINENTAL. IF ANY EBAYER KNOWS MORE ABOUT IT, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. ANYWAY. THIS SPEAR HAS CONTAINS ALL ELEMENTS THAT PRIMITIVE ART/WEAPON COLLECTORS ARE LOOKING FOR: GENUINE, NATIVE CULTURE, PRIMITIVE WORKMANSHIP, ET AL. LENGTH: 51" PREASE EMAIL ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS. THANK YOU FOR VISITING MY AUCTION.
