Antique/vintage HUGE weird old Northeast African spear spearhead unknown origin
This auction is for an unusual HUGE vintage or antique spearhead. It is very large and leaf-shaped. Measures around 15" long by 6" wide. Blade is hand forged with a sharp edge. Tapers in thickness from the socket to the tip. It's a little flexible but the edge is very sharp. The blade is welded to a socket or ferrule. Blade shows some pitting but not major. The socket has some rust and a crack that likely happened during the forging process(looks like a repair was attempted) Has an unusual grayish color overall. I am not sure where this is from but it might be from Northeast Africa/Eastern Sahel region. Could be from somewhere else but I have no idea where. Any input from other ebayers would be appreciated. Rare antique African tribal Akan/Ashanti bronze gold dust box. REDUCED
This 19th Century box was found in a market in Cote d'Ivoire(Ivory Coast) West Africa in 1991 or 92. Boxes like this were made by the Akan(Ashanti, Baule) people of West Africa by the lost-wax(cire perdue) method of moulding bronze and used to carry and store gold dust. Other Akan gold dust paraphanalia made from bronze and brass include rounded spoons to shovel the gold dust, decorated brass weights and tiny scales-dishes to weigh the gold. Some comments suggest that the boxes themselves or the lids on their own might also have been used as weights for larger amounts of gold. The lid of this box fits well and is probably original to the box. The lid is decorated with four birds; one of them was already headless when I bought it. And judging by the patina had been headless for a long time. The starting price for this object is set quite ... morelow because of the damage to the lid. Nowadays the decorated lids are sometimes found separate from the boxes and although this lid has been damaged, being with the original box makes this object very collectible. 3 old antique Venetian African trade beads: brick/blue/white. REDUCED
Three wound and painted striped trade beads found in Cote d'Ivoire(Ivory Coast) in the early 1990s. They date from the 19th or early 20th century. And I believe they were made in Venice for the African trade. The beads measure approximately 10 x 14 mm average. The Gibraltar penny in the photo is 20 mm diameter. These beads have been worn and used for at least a hundred years: they are in good condition for their type. But there are some scratches and chips. Dispatch is by regular international registered mail: £3.50 postage for all the EU including the UK. And £4.50 worldwide. Antique Cold Painted 4" Lead Figurine Black African Man with Stick
Up for consideration is a very old lead figurine of a black African man wearing native costume. The lead figurine is 4" tall and extremely detailed. He weighs about 5.5 ounces which is quite heavy for such a small figurine. The face is a work of art with pronounced details and careful painting! The man is wearing a yellow tunic with a black jacket. On his head is a red cap with a tassel on back. He holds a stick in one hand. And what looks like a pencil in the other. He is missing paint which has rubbed off over the years. He is not marked as to his maker. I have a feeling he is something good. but I can't find any like him so am starting him off at a low bid price. If you know what he is- he'll be a bargain.

I bought this item at an estate sale. I think it is a musical instument of some sort. Rhe man I bought it from said it belonged to his grandparents who were missionaries in Africa in the fifties. It doesn't look as old as the other items I got from the same sale. There is a row of 8 metal pieces across the front and they do make a pretty sound. This rare item is a lost wax casting. Made using an age old technique which was used in Nigeria and other west African countries for making small artworks. This is a snuff takers ring, specially made to hold a pinch of tobacco snuff to the nose for inhaling. This particular item has been in my collection for many years and has often been used in'What is it? quiz's. It is likely to have been made and used by the Tiv peoples of Nigeria, and is in very good condition for its age. It is believed to date from the later part of the 19th century. A really unusual carved wooden figure of a mother holding a baby on her back. I have no idea what wood it is but its carved so that one half is dark and the other half is lighter, the baby is facing to the right and light the mother has hollow eyes and ears(baby has one hollow ear because of the ways its carved) inside them is a white or the remains as in the mother of what looks like shell? I have no idea of its origin. These four vintage photographs in various sizes. Two approximately 9 ½” x 7 ½” one photo 8” x 7 ½” and one more photo 10” x 8’ were inserted into a very old package, which has been preserved poorly, although its contents have been well preserved. It contained an old children’s book without cover or title page from page 4 through 16th. The size of the book is approximately 9 ½” x 12 ½” It is possible that part of some antique book, because such books are not published today. We don’t know the author of the text, nor the Artist, but all the pictures are very bright, painted by a talented Artist and have preserved very well. It is possible to make very gook copies of these 12 original pictures for a small gallery. The photographs give you the feeling of dejection. If this was not the age television, judging from one ... moreof these photos, one would think that slavery was never abolished. The woman in these photos has expression of great suffering and helplessness on her face. We don’t know the author of these photographs, we don’t know the area where the“photo session” took place, but we are sure that life for some areas of America life is still very hard, and far from being happy and productive. Antique African Pendants Hung on Sterling Earrings Kabyle Enamaled Silver
Antique Kabyle enamelled pendants hung on sterling silver earrings. The wires fit into the hooks and are tight and hold well. They are marked with what looks like a Moroccan silver mark on the wire part. It is not a clear stamping on either one. The drops are old and have coral set on the ends. They hang about 2" from the top of the wires. The pendants are 1 1/2" long and are 19th century. They make great dangles for the ear wires.

Fine Ashanti Antique(circa late 1800s) Cast Bronze Gold weight. From the old private collection of the internationally celebrated artist and ardent Africanist. This is a rare. Museum quality authentic artifact(circa late 1800s) in a shape of a Sancofa bird. The item is about 2" x 1" In excellent antique condition. Ashanti gold weights are also named Mbramoo(sing. abramoo) This is an Ashanti gold weight. Used in the measuring of gold and gold dust, which was mined and panned in great quantities along the West Coast of Africa, hence the name Gold Coast. Gold was used in the Ashanti kingdom, now known as Ghana, in trading with outsiders, making personal adornments, and as an internal currency. Ashanti weights such as these have a variety of accoutrements such as boxes. Spoons and balances used to hold or measure out gold dust. A full ... morekit would include boxes, spoons, balance and around forty weights; this was known as a futoo and carried wrapped together in cloth. The futoo would then be put into a leather container or wooden box. Or if the owner was a wealthy man, a cast-brass kuduo box. The beads are made of deep cobalt blue transparent glass with a powdered glass matte finish. The beads appear to be handmade and are hand decorated with rows of small white dots seperated with white stripes. The necklace contains 38 round beads that measure approximatlely 1/2 inches long and 5/8 inches wide. These beads have small imperfections that are to be expected in handmade beads. The silver triangular findings appear to be sterling. The chain and hook are made of white brass. The necklace measures 27 1/2 inches long including the hook and chain. Beautiful Heavy Antique Faux Ivory Necklace w\ Elephants 7 Strands 4.5 ounces+ An antique necklace made of faux ivory with three elephants. Seven strands, and tons of beads. The seven strands make the long necklace that is 35 inches long, or just under three feet, and it weighs 128 grams or over 4.5 ounces. One unusual aspect is that the clasp is on the side. You'd assume that the elephants would be in the front. That the clasp would be in the back, but it fits on the side. Some of the beads have nicks in them. But this is in very good condition for its age. The silver metal clasps and holders are not marked in any way. They are not magnetic, and there does seem to be some red peeking through, but I am not sure what exactly the metal is.
