A WONDERFUL MELOMN POT FORM WITH A VERY DISTINCTIVE CORN DESIGN RIM. NiCELY SIZED AND A GREAT EXAMPLE FROM THIS KNOWN ARTIST. Virginia Fragua, “Ponca ... moreFlower” is a full blooded Native American Indian. She is a member of the Corn Clan and was born into the Jemez Pueblo in 1961. She was inspired to continue the long lived family tradition of hand coiling pottery, using ancient traditional methods at the age of 16. Her inspiration came from her grandmother, Persingula M. Gachupin. They developed a very close relationship during this time. She taught her all the fundamentals of working with clay. Virginia also helped her mother paint her pottery when she was a child. Virginia specializes in hand coiled melon styled pottery.

Aboriginal Bark painting, Groote Eylandt, Dreamtime warriors by important artist
Aboriginal Bark painting. Groote Eylandt, Dream time warriors by Jabarrgwa(Kneepad) Wurrabadalumba(1896– circa 1969) SIZE: 24cm x 53cm Jabarrgwa(Kneepad) Wurrabadalumba(1896– circa 1969) Jabarrgwa Wurrabadalumba was one of the early recorded Groote Eylandt artists whose work was most likely collected by anthropologist Charles Mountford. Leader of the American-Australian Scientific Expedition to Arnhem Land in 1948. Wurrabadalumba. More widely known as Kneepad, belonged to the Bara, or north-west wind people, and was born on Groote Eylandt, near Bartaluma. The Groote Eylandters produced many bark and cave paintings. This bark 1968 is titled early Dreamtime Warriors and illustrates a group of warriors armed with spears and spearthrowers. The background is a solid black, made from local manganese pigment, with the design laid on in yellow outline. ... moreOnly four colours are used: white, yellow, red and black. In a reversal of east Arnhem Land practice, the complex details of the composition are found within the figures, while the surrounds are left bare and the images seem to float in space. The simple black background was characteristic of Groote Eylandt and to a particular period before the influx of manganese miners which created a market for works with overall patterning and more complex compositions. Jabarrgwa(Kneepad) Wurrabadalumba work is held in institutional collections including· Art Gallery of NSW· National Gallery of Australia. National Gallery of Victoria This painting is in excellent condition for its age. And bark is straight with no cracking. FREIGHT: The purchaser is to pay the cost of shipping and handling. Vintage Australian Aboriginal Wood Item With Dot Painting Decoration.75mm x 60mm
On offer is a vintage Australian Aboriginal wood item with dot painting decoration. I call it an"item" because I have no idea what it is. The only information that I was given is that it was old and was Aboriginal. It shows age and patina and possibly was turned on a lathe. The wood is a very heavy type and has a nice brown grain- it might be part of a very large Banksia Seed Pod. It is a shaped cylindrical object with a 14mm hole at one end. It has been suggested that it is a candlestick but I have never heard of Aboriginals making such items. It is in lovely condition. May be returned for refund within 7 days of purchase if not 100% satisfactory. I will combine items. See my"other items" for more Oceanic items Postage to America is $15.50 Postage to Australia is $7.90 Postage to UK/Europe $20.20

Robin Ngainmira Aboriginal Bark Painting Likanaya & Marrayka Oenpelli 36x10"
This is an Original AUSTRALIAN ABORIGINAL BARK PAINTING. By Australian Aboriginal Artist Robin Ngainmira, 1951-1991) It is inscribed on the reverse, and has it's Original Label from the Gunwinggu Tribe in the Openpelli area. I do not know its exact age but my guess would be from the 1970s- 1980s. It describes two women, Likanaya and Marrayka, of the dreaming time used to wander around western Arnhem land gathering food, which they placed in woven pandanus dilly bags. One day they came upon a waterhole at a place called Malwan when 2 men crept up on them and tried to grab them. The women slipped into the water and their feet changed into fishes' tails and they swam away from their assailants. On the Label on the reverse is the story of the painting. Robin Ngainmira belongs to a family of artists: his father. Jimmy Nakkurridjdjilmi ... moreNgainmira(1917-1982) and father's brothers, Bobby Barrdjaray Ngainmira(born 1915) and Peter Ngainmira(1927-1987) are all well-known painters.Robin Ngainmira takes after his father in his facility to render a great variety of animal species using the naturalistic x- ray technique. However, the manner in which Robin Ngainmira combines a multitude of figures within the picture frame to create highly animated scenes is unique. This painting is in very good condition and measures 36" by 9 3/4" wide. The reed strings show some wear but still intact. Colors include earth tones and white. It would make an Ideal Addition to any Good Collection of Fine Original Australian ABORIGINAL Art. Terms and Conditions Shipping Costs: Shipping cost to be listed in the ad and paid at the auction's conclusion. If shipping is not listed. You may inquire and I can provide that information to you during the auction proceeding. I reserve the right to cancel any bid if the bidder’s feedback is poor. Vintage Australian Aboriginal Large Painting On Bark Panel With Old Label
This is a vintage Australian Aboriginal painting on a bark panel in good condition which measures about 25 by 10 1/4 inches. The previous owner purchased this directly from the artist on a trip to Australia in 1972. It's unsigned but has an old typed label on the back as shown. It appears to be the wrong label as the description doesn't quite match the image. It has a couple of light scratches on the image which are not too noticeable and the panel is slightly warped. $20 shipping within the US. Thanks!

Vintage Aboriginal Australian Bark Painting FISHING SCENE by Narabullgun 1975
For sale is a piece of vintage aboriginal art. This piece depicts a man and woman fishing. With aquatic life around them. It's a bark painting done in the traditional aborigine style. The piece is signed Narabullgun 75 in the right corner. I don't know much about the artist but I do see some other paintings by them floating around the'net. This painting measures 12 1/2" by 9" There is some minor paint loss here and there(see pics) and the piece itself is fragile from age. It's really interesting and it would make a great addition to ANY collection!

GLEN NAMUNDJA Painting on paper Listed Australian Aboriginal artist
painting on rag paper by Australian aboriginal artist Glen Namundja.it measures 12.25 inches(4.8 cm) by 8.5 inches(3.4 cm)the frame that the painting is in measures 19.25 inches(7.6 cm) by 15.5 inches(6 cm)it was framed in Australia and to the best of my knowledge has not been removed from the frame since then and is still sealed.see photos for condition and other details.the following is the info about this artist that I found on the internet. Glen Namundja is a Kunwinjku artist who resides in the Aboriginal community of Gunbalanya(Oenpelli) in Western Arnhem Land. His painting career began with the establishment of Injalak Arts and Crafts in 1989. The art centre at Gunbalanya which still represents him. However, his artistic training began much earlier under the tutelage of his father, the revered artist Peter Marralwanga, who was also ... morean uncle and early influence for John Mawurndjul. Marralwanga was at the forefront of brokering a broader appreciation of Kunwinjku cultural identity through his innovations of Kunwinjku artistic traditions, most notably through his radical rarrk-based compositions. Marralwanga was also encouraged by another great artistic visionary, the late Billy Yirawala. In the early 1970s, these two men established the outstation of Markolidjban which is where Namundja spent his youth and which remains a key spiritual and mythological source for his art. Namundja works in a variety of media. Including sculpture(of long and lean mimi figures, for example) and printmaking, but it is painting, primarily ochres on bark or Arches paper, which has been at the core of his practice. Despite such a longstanding career, it wasn’t until 2008 that he held his first solo exhibition, Lineal through Linear, at Mossenson Galleries in Melbourne. The exhibition title was a nod to his rich artistic heritage and the graceful, meticulous line work in much Kunwinjku art. Prior to this he had shown in group and award exhibitions throughout Australia and in Italy and The Netherlands, and in the Namundja B

Aboriginal Dream Painting from Australia; Dot painting; Artist: Tom Ngayulu
This wonderful Dream Painting carries the theme of the Three Sisters and the Parents in the Blue Mountains. It is titled"Dream on Katoomba. Katoomba is a large town in the Blue Mountain area. Located in New South Wales, Australia. The dots in the painting are incredibly even and the craftsmanship is excellent. It's one of those paintings you can look and contemplate several meanings. It's a very optical experience. As it can make your eyes swim and yet it's very calming- either way you can enter the artist's dream or your own. It's a wonderful example of Dot Painting. I don't know this Australian artist personally. But have been told he is well established and his artwork is being collected now. The painting is acrylic on primed stretched canvas. It measures 16" X 20" and was painted in 2004. You will ... moreenjoy it as much as I have. Shipping will be a bit more than estimated through E-bay as this must be packed well and insured.
