You are considering a(one) vintage weathered horse barn stall door/fence gate. There are eleven in all. They vary in size. But the overriding measurement is 72' tall X 41 1/2" wide. Your winning bid allows you to choose which one you want. Some of the gates still have hardware attached. I was told they are oak, but I have not planed any of the wood. The door has a solid, chestnut core covered with 1/4" thick, quartersawn or riftsawn oak veneers on both sides. The door is also painted and features 6 raised panels on both sides. C hestnut is a rare and valuable wood; it’s not commercially available due to the blight introduced between 1900& 1908. Which made the North American chestnut trees virtually extinct by 1940. Also, please don't think that"veneer" means inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture. These veneers are almost 1/4" thick and provide strength and stability to the door. The door could be sanded and refinished several times ... morebefore the door would need to be re-veneered. They look like an upside down"L" There are also a few small nicks and chips along the edges(the biggest is shown in one of the photos) However. Most of the scrapes, scratches, and nail holes would be removed by sanding and/or filled with putty during the preparation phase prior to staining and finishing, or concealed once painted. Oak Partition came from a court house has a swinging door with a door that could open from either direction. Circa 1910. The measurements overall of this entire divider are 88 ½” long by 43” high on the stationary end and 38” high is the swinging door. The depth of the top ledge on both halves is 6 ½” deep. Description This is a great antique door that was salvaged from a Lebanon. PA Victorian Home. It is made of oak and both sides are unpainted. It has a full length beveled glass panel with a 1 and 5/8 inch visible bevel. The front and back are the same except the front has a small shelf below the glass. It has most of it's hardware. There are no knobs the the escution needs replacing. It measures 37.75 inches by 82.5 inches tall and is 1.75 inches thick. Overall. It is in very good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings adding to the antique charm of the piece. There are small nail and screw holes from curtain hangers. A deadbolt has been added. If you have any questions. Wonderful Old Beadboard Oak Door with hindges knob From Mansion Attic
From an 1875 mansion I am not sure they more than likely were from 1875 as the whole attic was paneled in the same oak wainscoat which I hope to purchase at a later date. Heavy is not the word painted a greenish blueish washed color. Oak beadboard wainscot measures 71-3/4" tall x 3/4" depth x almost 20-3/4" wide. Has a dog leash hanging on it as I had so many to list this is the one for this auction. Original knob on one side no no knob on other side but both sides original door box lock. The door has a solid, ash core covered with 1/16" thick, ash veneers. Ash is a hardwood that looks very similar to Oak. The door is finished on one side and painted on the other. There are 6, horizontal, recessed panels on both sides of the door. Also, please don't think that"veneer" means inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture. These veneers are almost 1/8" thick and provide strength and stability to the door. There are globs of dried paint stripper on the painted side of the door. And some of the globs on the lower portion have some mold. The globs are not positioned in a logical pattern, and they seem ... morelike the got onto the door by accident. The globs and mold are very easy to remove, and pose no threat to the door whatsoever; we only mentioned this to you so there is no confusion about what the dark spots are. Hardware: The door is equipped with a spring-loaded. Double-action, floor-mounted hinge in the lower, hinge stile corner, and a pivot hinge in the upper corner. The spring-loaded hinge is functional. The door has a solid oak core with 1/16" oak veneers. Originally, the door had 9 beveled glass lites, but now, only 6 remain. We could order and install the 3 missing pieces of glass-email us for a quote. This door was originally a part of a pair of double doors. And had 2 internal slide bolts installed in the top and bottom its current hinge stile. It was later used as a single door, and as you could see from the photos, a lock was installed in the opposite side from the slide bolts. As a result, there are hinge mortises on both sides of the door. We could plug those mortises, cut them off, as well as make any other repairs and adjustments to the door-see"Modification" ... morebelow. Hardware: Aside from a mortise lock. Now replaced it needs retiring to a more rustic context. Its ability to keep out the weather is now limited and is in a very rickety state. This 42 in solid oak door is a big eye catcher. I have two of them they have dead bolt and latch locks. These solid heavy doors are sturdy and strong no one is getting through these bad boys. I hate to sell them but they no longer fit the style. They are un great condition no cracks in the glasses n u can and and stain them or paint them to fit ur needs. But they are size larger they fit perfect for business to usually and the largest door of the house. Very rare are original from the 1930's. Posted with
