The door has a solid, chestnut core covered with 1/4" thick, quartersawn or riftsawn oak veneers on both sides. The door is also painted and features 6 raised panels on both sides. C hestnut is a rare and valuable wood; it’s not commercially available due to the blight introduced between 1900& 1908. Which made the North American chestnut trees virtually extinct by 1940. They look like an upside down"L" There are also a few small nicks and chips along the edges(the biggest is shown in one of the photos) However. Oak Partition came from a court house has a swinging door with a door that could open from either direction. Circa 1910. The measurements overall of this entire divider are 88 ½” long by 43” high on the stationary end and 38” high is the swinging door. The depth of the top ledge on both halves is 6 ½” deep. These architecturally interesting pocket doors are made of oak very happy with an interesting design that at times is used for adding that special something to your room's decor. The door has a solid, ash core covered with 1/16" thick, ash veneers. Ash is a hardwood that looks very similar to Oak. The door is finished on one side and painted on the other. There are 6, horizontal, recessed panels on both sides of the door. Also, please don't think that"veneer" means inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture. These veneers are almost 1/8" thick and provide strength and stability to the door. There are globs of dried paint stripper on the painted side of the door. And some of the globs on the lower portion have some mold. The globs are not positioned in a logical pattern, and they seem ... morelike the got onto the door by accident. The globs and mold are very easy to remove, and pose no threat to the door whatsoever; we only mentioned this to you so there is no confusion about what the dark spots are. Hardware: The door is equipped with a spring-loaded. Double-action, floor-mounted hinge in the lower, hinge stile corner, and a pivot hinge in the upper corner. The spring-loaded hinge is functional. But whether or not the spring is strong enough to swing the door back and forth will be unknown until installed. There are no push plates or pulls/handles, but we have some in our eBay store. Each door has a solid pine core covered with 1/4" thick red oak veneers. Please don't think"veneer" means inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern furniture to disguise the inferior materials underneath; these veneers are very thick and help strengthen and stabilize the door. As well as protect it against warping. Solid oak doors would've warped a long time ago. The doors have 6 panels on each side: 2 square on top. 2 long, rectangular in the middle, and 2 square on bottom. On the front side, the panels have beautifully- carved, Gothic quadrafoils and ogee arches. On the back side, the panels are raised. Hardware: Besides the ... moremail door and cover. The doors do not come with any hardware. The stunning. Sargent" cast bronze handles and push plates shown in the photos are being offered to buyer of these doors first. We bought them from the same place we bought the doors, and even though they weren't found with the doors, they are perfect for them!
