Early Original 1900's Pair of Stained Glass Oak Cabinet Doors
Up for auction is an original matching set of stained& beveled glass cabinet doors taken from a Milwaukee bungalow that was built in 1918. There are no cracks or damage of any kind. One piece of the glass has a minor imperfection. It is not a crack or a scratch but it is a line that is a little over an inch. I tried to photograph it but it would not show up in the pictures. I am just trying to be upfront. It is surrounded in beautiful oak that has a great patina. One door measures 20& 3/4 inches tall. 14& 11/16 inches wide. You are looking at a pair of antique pine leaded glass cabinet doors. They are not painted. They have their original finish on them. They are in good condition. There are a few minor scratches in the finish as you can see in the pics, but nothing major at all. The glass is sturdy and there are no breaks. There are 31 pieces of flat glass in each door. Each door has a solid, pine core with 1/8" birch veneers and has 1 large beveled glass mirror on one side and one panel on the other. Hardware: Each door is not equipped with any hardware. However. I have had these doors for over 20 years stored in my heated garage. Planed on using this unique set of doors in my home but my remodeling projects never allowed me to use them in a location where they could be viewed properly& appreciated. Looking at the wood grain. I believe they are oak… Glass panels are in Very Good condition- No Chips. No Cracks, No pieces missing. There is NO putty or glazing around the Glass Panels. Glass panels are firmly& solidly attached with wood trim around each piece. There are No rattles or loose glass panels. Glass Panels are a Frosted Snowflake design. It provides privacy& allowslight to shine through. Door are in Very Good Condition- There are NO… Cracks. Chips, or Pieces of wood missing on either door& there is NO dry rot or decay. Doors are already pre-notch for hinges… 3 notches on each ... moredoor. Top/ Middle/ Bottom. Each door is 24 inches wide…however when they are closed the overall width is 47.50 inches. This is due to a rabbit that is cut into one door to allow for proper/ normal/ overlap closing. The Height of each door is 95.50 inches. Each door is 1.75 inches thick. Each Snowflake Glass panel is 15inches tall and 9 inches wide. These are Heavy doors… Each door weighs 50 lbs. Handles are Brass…They do need a good cleaning. On one door there are two brass handles which operate the pivot locking devices at the top and bottom. When you turn the top handle a square metal bar approximately ¼ inch thick will rise out of the top of the door and would go into a hole that you would have drilled into your wood frame. This door came from a small town in South/Central Texas and was a salvaged purchase. It is Gothic to Renaissance in style and will need to be refurbished since the wood has some scratches. Nicks and miscellaneous small repairs on them. The glass looks to be 1940’s or older with four panels replaced by a different style of glass. These four replaced pieces of glass panels have a starburst/snowflake type pattern while the remainder has a mottled goose-bump style. There are 30 glass panels in total on the two doors. It measures: 68”W x 7’T. A finish carpenter would have to make them conform to your city’s code ordinances as well as bring out the true beauty of these unique doors. I have a set of vintage. Real wood doors with hand blown glass panels. They are from the early 1900's and originally came from a house in the Tacoma area. While the wood has normal wear on them, they remain in good condition and were recently used as office doors. There is one small crack in one panel of the glass. All the hardware is original. Doors are approximately 29 3/4' x 79 1/2' These doors are much to pretty to sit in my garage! They deserve to be the centerpiece of their new home. Local pick up only. Both still have the original hinges and the right one has the original knob plates(but not the door knobs) The slag glass is in excellent condition with no breaks or cracks. The glass for the most part is variations of green with some amber. Gray and white. The wood around the edges does have some issues where the wood has peeled off on some of the corners but could easily be filled in with wood filler and stained. All the wood pieces that hold in the glass are intact and in good condition. The right door measures 29 3/4" wide x 7 feet tall and the left door measures 30 1/2" wide(including door stop) x 7 feet tall. These are truly a pair ... moreof magnificent looking doors! Description This is a beautiful antique door that was salvaged from a Victorian Mansion in Philadelphia. PA. These were the interior vestibule doors. Everything is made of pine and is painted. The doors have raised panels at the bottom and stained glass at the top. Each door panel has 35 jewels. Great design and nice colors. The fronts are very ornate with fluted pilasters beside the glass. There are shelves above and a shelf with beadwork below. The transom has a semi arched top and 26 jewels. The knobs and hinges will need to be replaced. They measure 48.5 inches wide. The door are 90 inches tall and the transom is just under 19 tall. They are 1.75 inches thick. Overall. Penn Antique Restoration. 55"x 86" Antique Pair French Interior Doors w/20 Windows. Gorgeous. Antique, interior French doors, salvaged from a historic home in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Each door is made of solid white pine and has 10 windows. Unfortunately. 6 glass lites are broken, and only 14 out of the 20 glass lites are intact. We could either cut new pieces from our collection of old glass. Or we could order a new glass lites(i.e. beveled, tempered, leaded, stained, etc. and install them- email us for a quote. Keep in mind the doors were installed inside the house as interior doors. But they could still be used as entry doors. Hardware: The doors are not equipped with any hardware. However. We have a good selection of period hardware in our eBay store and tons more in our physical store. The top of the hinge and lock stiles, and the bottom rail are chipped. The molding is made out of putty and is chipped in several spots. On the interior side of the same door, the top of the lock and hinge stiles, and the top rail are chipped. On the exterior side of the other door. There are breaks and chips in the astragal(divider strip or stop molding) the bottom rail is cracked; there is a deep scrape in the lock stile; and the molding is made out of putty and is chipped in several spots. On the interior side, the top of the lock stile is chipped. Otherwise. These doors are in very good shape with only surface scrapes, scratches, small nail holes-minor cosmetic blemishes, which would be removed during the finishing process, or disguised after a fresh coat of paint. Quirks& Considerations: The height of the doors was unevenly cut by 3/8" at some point. Most likely to accommodate for a warped floor or settling foundation-we could even the height.
