Description This is a nice antique French door that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian mansion. It is made of pine and is currently unapinted. It is a double swinging door and the lower hardware is intact. The upper hardware is missing the pin. 4 pieces of glass are missing but the mullions are intact. It has both push plates. It needs sanded and restained or painted because the old finish is uneven. It measures 30 inches wide. By 79.5 inches tall. It's 1 and 3/8 inches thick. Overall. It is in decent condition. We could replace the broken lite and add a lite in the empty window with 2 pieces custom cut from our collection of old glass for $25. Hardware: The door is equipped with a spring-loaded. Double-action hinge and 1 hinge cover. However, it's missing the other cover, 2 push plates, and pivot hinge for the top of the door. The door doesn't have a lock. And you could enter and exit a room by simply pushing the door. The door's spring-loaded hinge allows the ... moredoor to swing back and forth. Doors like this are usually installed between a kitchen and dining room. If you would like to use the door as a traditional. The door has a solid pine core covered with 1/16" thick, birch veneers, and has an impressive arrangement of 15, true-divided, beveled glass lites. When most people hear"pine" they think of a cheap. Weak, and soft wood. New pine hewn from 10- 20 year old trees doesn't have the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old has. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine. Also. Please don't think that"veneer" means inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture. These veneers are 1/16" thick and provide ... morestrength and stability to the door. Hardware: The door is not equipped with any hardware. However. Penn Antique Restoration. 35"x83" Antique Restored French Door w/15 Wavy Glass Lites. Beautifully restored. Antique door salvaged from an old home in Northeastern Pennsylvania. It’s made of solid pine and features an arrangement of 15 true-divided, wavy glass lites. We repaired, refinished, and equipped the door with an old lockset and mailbox. Restoration: At the point of salvage. The door was found with its original finish, 1 broken lite, 1 deadbolt hole, 1 broken mullion, 9 pieces of broken molding, nail holes, and equipped only with a mortise lock and mail door. Since then, we’ve stripped the original finish, replaced the broken lite, made and added molding, patched the deadbolt hole, and filled the nail holes(see photos under"Prior to refinishing" A few months ago. A customer bought the door and had us cut the width ... morefrom 35 7/8" to 35 1/8" and refinish it to match the woodwork in his home. Unfortunately, the customer did the measuring himself, and mis-measured. The door was actually perfect at 35 7/8" but after cutting it, it was no longer usable for him. His loss is now your opportunity to purchase a fully-restored, antique, French entry door at a discounted price. Please note that the replacement lite was custom cut from antique windows we salvaged from around our area. All repairs were made using antique pine. Hardware: We added a pair of brass knobs and brass-plated iron escutcheons. We didn't make a key for the lock. But we could for an additional $6/key-email us after the auction if you are interested. The door was originally hung with surface-mounted strap hinges. This is a great feature if you are planning on using side-mounted hinges. Since the sides haven’t been mortised for hinges. New pine hewn from 10- 20 year old trees doesn't have the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old has. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine. Also. Please don't think that"veneer" means inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture. Email us after the auction to let us know which of the 2 doors you would like. Handsome. Antique. Swinging door salvaged from an old home in Northeastern Ohio. Each door is made of solid Douglas Fir. Both doors have a beautiful arrangement of 10, true-divided, beveled glass lites. The doors were previously used as a"swinging doors. which meant that they had spring-loaded, pivot hinges installed in their bottom corners, and swung both forward and backward like a saloon style door. The doors no longer have their pivot hinges or push ... moreplates. However, just because they were used as a swinging doors, doesn't mean that you have to. We could cut off the rounded sides and trim the doors to 26"W, or we could cut and then add to the sides to widen to 28" or wider. We could also cut the height of the door to just above of the area where the hinge was installed(which would make each door 82 1/2" Or if you need the height or need it taller, we could plug the mortised area and even add to it. Look at the last photos of another door that we modified as an example. Condition: see photos) Door#1 has a broken piece of molding and a deep scrape along one of it's edges. Otherwise. Both doors are strong and sturdy and only have minor cosmetic blemishes that you would expect to find on 100+ year old doors.
