New pine hewn from 10- 20 year old trees doesn't have the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old has. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine. The glass lite installed is actually plexiglass. Unfortunately.
