Early Original 1900's Pair of Stained Glass Oak Cabinet Doors
Up for auction is an original matching set of stained& beveled glass cabinet doors taken from a Milwaukee bungalow that was built in 1918. There are no cracks or damage of any kind. One piece of the glass has a minor imperfection. It is not a crack or a scratch but it is a line that is a little over an inch. I tried to photograph it but it would not show up in the pictures. I am just trying to be upfront. It is surrounded in beautiful oak that has a great patina. One door measures 20& 3/4 inches tall. 14& 11/16 inches wide. Its most striking elements are the beautiful glasswork; fabulous original hardware including doorknob, rose, key plate, and strikeplate; and the truly unique carved, bas-relief ribbons on one side of the door. An architectural ... morehistorian estimated its manufacture date as sometime between 1900 and 1910. Based on its construction. It does show wear from its age and several moves. There are two hairline cracks in the glasswork. Several repaired dings to the wood window frame, and the wood joins in that frame have parted slightly. It appears as though the hinge side may once have been drilled for the lock mechanism, then refilled. The finish is alligatored, and there are scratches that range from faint to fairly deep. White paint overspray is present on the big brass hinges. All of these are shown in the pictures; please examine them carefully. The original brass hardware is included and is absolutely stunning. They look like lead on one side and copper on the other. I found them down in Arizona about 20 years ago and all I remember is they said they came from a old hospital. Their are four colors. The red, white, dark grey and lighter grey that looks more brown on my computer. There is one v shaped crack in the side of the red H. They are slightly different in size the H is 19 7/8" 12 3/8" The red cross is 19 3/8" X 13" They are in good repair, not loose of flimsy, the edges are 1/4" thick. I don't know much about this window but an antique dealer told me it probably came out of an old barn. As you can see from the pictures. It does need some reinforcing around some of the soldered edges and the main wood frame. It's beautiful in the sunlight and was appraised for between $2,800.00 to $3,200.00.

An extraordinary antique pocket door. Circa 1900, with amazing American stained glass. The door's glass pane features an abstract design in a playful variety of stained, ripple and granite glass. The central medallion is composed of ripple glass in clear, amber, green and blue hues and is anchored by a red rectangular frame. The clear granite background is framed by a double border of clear ripple and red glass; two rows of sun-purple diamonds line the piece at top and bottom. Dating from the early 1900's, each door's stained glass panel incorporates a variety of glass types and a subdued selection of colors, with amber, green and clear glass. The abstract design is bordered in amber Florentine and gorgeous green ripple glass. Each central pane's playful composition is rendered in clear Florentine, granite and hammered glass. Description This is a great set that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. The fronts are chestnut and the backs are cherry. It looks like someone began stripping them. They are not 100% completely stripped but it will not take too much to finish them. Each door has a full length panel of leaded glass with a great design. All of the glass is clear distorted in a variety of textures and patterns. Each panel has 12 jewels. All of the hardware needs to be replaced. They measure 48 inches wide.
