Penn Antique Restoration. 28"x84" Antique Interior Oak Door w/ 5 Recessed Panels. Strong. Antique, interior door salvaged from an old home in Northeastern Ohio. The door has a solid Douglas Fir core covered with 1/8" oak veneers, and features 5 recessed panels on each side. Please don't think that"veneer" means inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture. These veneers are 1/8" thick and provide strength and stability to the door. Hardware: The door is not equipped with any hardware. However. We have a good selection of period hardware to outfit the door(check out our eBay store) If you would like any of the hardware holes patched with a solid block of wood. Some pieces of veneer on the top and ... morebottom of the lock stile, and the top of the hinge stile are chipped; the veneer is cracked on the top of the lock stile; and a strip of veneer is missing from the top of the hinge stile. On the interior side of the door. Some pieces of veneer on the top and bottom of the lock stile are chipped; and the bottom hinge mortise is chipped. Otherwise. This door is in very good shape with only surface scrapes, scratches, small nail holes-minor cosmetic blemishes which would be removed during the finishing process or covered if painted. Unfortunately, we are not sure what type of wood was used for the 1/8" veneers, but we do know that it is either maple, cherry or birch.
