Each door is made of solid pine and has 15 windows. Unfortunately. 4 glass lites are missing. We could either custom cut pieces from our collection of old glass or we could order new glass lites(i.e. beveled. Tempered, leaded, stained, etc. and install them- email us for a quote. Although the doors were installed inside the house as interior doors. They could still be used as entry doors. Hardware: The doors come with all hardware shown in photos. However. If you do not like the hardware installed and want something different, we have a good selection of period hardware in our eBay store and tons more in our physical store. Antique doors salvaged from old homes in Northeastern Ohio. The doors are made of solid heartpine, and have 5 raised panels on both sides. Please note that heartpine is the non-living. Core of a pine tree, and not the soft, outer, living sap-wood. Since it takes 30 years for a pine tree just to develop just 1” of heart stock it is rarer. Harder, more durable, more insect& rot resistant, less susceptible to warping and twisting, and is much more valuable than the ... morecheap, pine lumber that is commonly found at most hardware stores. 51"x82" Antique Stripped Chestnut Double Entry Doors Leaded Textured Glass Lites
Penn Antique Restoration. 51"x82" Antique Chestnut Double Entry Doors w/Leaded Textured Glass. Gorgeous. Antique, double entry doors salvaged from a recently demolished church in Northeastern WV. Each door is made of solid chestnut and has 1 half-length window with 2 horizontal, recessed panels underneath. Also note that chestnut is a rare and valuable wood; it’s not commercially available due to the blight introduced between 1900& 1908. Which made the North American chestnut trees virtually extinct by 1940. Hardware: Besides 1 flushbolt. The doors are not equipped with hardware. However. We have a good selection of period hardware in our eBay store, and tons more in our physical store. If you prefer. We could also plug all hardware holes with solid blocks of wood- email us for a quote. Restoration: see photos under"At ... morethe point of salvage" We found the doors completely covered under many layers of paint. There were a few broken pieces of glass and the leaded skeletons of the lites were weak and falling apart. On top of that. Someone replaced the original glass with modern, green, slag glass. Since then. We've stripped the paint and sanded the doors. We took the lites to the local stained glass repair shop that we've been going to for years"Kasmark& Marshall" in Luzerne. PA, and they completely reworked them! They took out all of the glass from the lites and separated the old pieces from the new. They replaced all of the new pieces, with old pieces(many of which are no longer commercially available) and then encased them in a new, leaded skeleton. The work took weeks and cost over $900! Condition: The doors are strong. Sturdy, and in great structural shape! There are a few cosmetic blemishes(character marks) including some chips in the inner corners; there is a long, but shallow crack in the lower portion of the hinge stile on one of the doors; the molding around the glass was cut to accommodate the support bars of the lites; and there are 2 slivers of wood under one
