It features an ornate, wrought iron grille inset in a scrolled design. The frame is iron as it does accept magnate. It has a matte black finish. It is in good condition with some minor rusted spots and a general, aged patina. There are pre-drilled mounting holes. The bottom section is bent but can be straightened. This is a beautiful vintage piece that can be used as a door or window insert/grille or wall décor. It would make an interesting garden trellis as well. I think the screen is one continuous piece which runs from the top to the bottom of the door. Amazing 400 year old wrought iron gates
I was told these gates were 400 years old but I can't verify for sure that they are. I do know that they are at least more than a century old as they were pinned together as done prior to electric welding They are all heavy. Solid steel with brass rosettes. They have also developed the beautiful pitting that can only be accomplished by centuries of time. Each gate is approximately 2 ft wide by 5 ft tall. Each gate weighs 100 lbs.
