Penn Antique Restoration. 24"x83"x1.75" Antique Arts& Crafts Walnut? Door w/5 Panels. Rare. Antique, interior door salvaged from an old home in Northeastern Ohio. The door has a solid, Douglas Fir core covered with 1/4" thick, hardwood veneers. I'm familiar with many wood types, but I'm unsure of this one. The grain most closely resembles walnut. The door if finished on the exterior side and painted white on the interior side. There is an unusual arrangement of 5 recessed panels on both sides of the door. Also, please don't think that"veneer" means inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture. These veneers are 1/4" thick and provide strength and stability to the door. The door could be sanded and refinished several times before the door would need to ... morebe re-veneered. Hardware: Although the photos show some hardware installed; the door doesn't come equipped with any hardware. However. Up for Auction are three Amazing mahogany& walnut cabinet doors. Two doors have a center panel that is antique pressed(I believe walnut) wood with crotched book matched walnut veneer panels above and below. The third door has three panels of crotch book matched walnut veneer panels. The doors are constructed of mahogany(spanish cedar) with walnut trim. The backing is a smooth plywood cabinet grade. These doors are a custom design incorporating salvaged antique materials. Reclaimed and new wood from Whitmer Design Studio. These doors have never been used and are new although they incorporated antiques materials in the design. They have not been finished- except for the antique panel that was kept in its found state. This pair of carved wood panels is from France and they date to the late 1800's. These were originally cabinet doors. These panels are solid walnut. The heads in the center as well as the surrounding ornaments are finely carved and the entire panel is finished in a warm honey color.
