Penn Antique Restoration. 31.5"x79.5"x1.75" Antique French Swinging Door w/10 Windows. Elegant. Antique, French, interior door salvaged from an old home in Northeastern Ohio. The door is made of solid pine, and has a less common arrangement of 10 windows. 1 lite is missing; 1 is made of Plexiglass and is broken; and 8 of the lites are intact, original, wavy glass. We could replace the broken lite and add a lite in the empty window with 2 pieces custom cut from our collection of old glass for $25. Hardware: The door is equipped with a spring-loaded. Double-action hinge and 1 hinge cover. However, it's missing the other cover, 2 push plates, and pivot hinge for the top of the door. The door doesn't have a lock. And you could enter and exit a room by simply pushing the door. The door's spring-loaded hinge allows the ... moredoor to swing back and forth. Doors like this are usually installed between a kitchen and dining room. If you would like to use the door as a traditional. Closing door, we could remove the hinge and plug the rectangular hole with a solid block of wood. The door has a solid pine core covered with 1/16" thick, birch veneers, and has an impressive arrangement of 15, true-divided, beveled glass lites. When most people hear"pine" they think of a cheap. Weak, and soft wood. New pine hewn from 10- 20 year old trees doesn't have the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old has. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine. Also. Please don't think that"veneer" means inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture. These veneers are 1/16" thick and provide ... morestrength and stability to the door. Hardware: The door is not equipped with any hardware. However. We have a good selection of period hardware to outfit the door(check out our eBay store) If you would like any of the hardware holes patched with a solid block of wood. Please email us for a quote. Condition: About half of the upper rail and half of the lock stile on the exterior side is missing veneer. There are also a couple of other spots where the veneer is loose or missing(see photos) The loose veneer is easy to re-secure. And filling in the empty spots with filler or any veneer would be simple and inexpensive. However, that would make the door only suitable to repaint. If you would like to refinish the door, filling in the empty spots with veneer that would match the existing, surrounding veneer will be more challenging, and more costly. There are a few chips in along the upper edges of the door(see photos) The door may look in bad shape, but it's actually quite strong, sturdy, and structurally sound. 35"x83" Antique Restored Refinished French Door 15 True Divided Wavy Glass Lites
Penn Antique Restoration. 35"x83" Antique Restored French Door w/15 Wavy Glass Lites. Beautifully restored. Antique door salvaged from an old home in Northeastern Pennsylvania. It’s made of solid pine and features an arrangement of 15 true-divided, wavy glass lites. We repaired, refinished, and equipped the door with an old lockset and mailbox. Restoration: At the point of salvage. The door was found with its original finish, 1 broken lite, 1 deadbolt hole, 1 broken mullion, 9 pieces of broken molding, nail holes, and equipped only with a mortise lock and mail door. Since then, we’ve stripped the original finish, replaced the broken lite, made and added molding, patched the deadbolt hole, and filled the nail holes(see photos under"Prior to refinishing" A few months ago. A customer bought the door and had us cut the width ... morefrom 35 7/8" to 35 1/8" and refinish it to match the woodwork in his home. Unfortunately, the customer did the measuring himself, and mis-measured. The door was actually perfect at 35 7/8" but after cutting it, it was no longer usable for him. His loss is now your opportunity to purchase a fully-restored, antique, French entry door at a discounted price. Please note that the replacement lite was custom cut from antique windows we salvaged from around our area. All repairs were made using antique pine. Hardware: We added a pair of brass knobs and brass-plated iron escutcheons. We didn't make a key for the lock. But we could for an additional $6/key-email us after the auction if you are interested. The door was originally hung with surface-mounted strap hinges. This is a great feature if you are planning on using side-mounted hinges. Since the sides haven’t been mortised for hinges.
