Penn Antique Restoration. 51"x82" Antique Chestnut Double Entry Doors w/Leaded Textured Glass. Gorgeous. Antique, double entry doors salvaged from a recently demolished church in Northeastern WV. Each door is made of solid chestnut and has 1 half-length window with 2 horizontal, recessed panels underneath. Also note that chestnut is a rare and valuable wood; it’s not commercially available due to the blight introduced between 1900& 1908. Which made the North American chestnut trees virtually extinct by 1940. Hardware: Besides 1 flushbolt. The doors are not equipped with hardware. However. There were a few broken pieces of glass and the leaded skeletons of the lites were weak and falling apart. On top of that. Someone replaced the original glass with modern, green, slag glass. Since then. We've stripped the paint and sanded the doors. We took the lites to the local stained glass repair shop that we've been going to for years"Kasmark& Marshall" in Luzerne. PA, and they completely reworked them! They took out all of the glass from the lites and separated the old pieces from the new. They replaced all of the new pieces, with old pieces(many of which are no longer commercially available) and then encased them in a new, leaded skeleton. The work took weeks and cost over $900! Condition: The doors are strong. Sturdy, and in great structural shape! There are a few cosmetic blemishes(character marks) including some chips in the inner corners; there is a long, but shallow crack in the lower portion of the hinge stile on one of the doors; the molding around the glass was cut to accommodate the support bars of the lites; and there are 2 slivers of wood under one

These veneers are 1/16" thick and provide strength and stability to the door. Oak is a very dense wood and the door would've warped long ago if it weren't for its veneers. Each lite has a different textured pattern(one floral and one swirly) which most likely means that one lite was replaced. It's hard to tell which is the original lite as both lites are old, and both patterns are no longer in production. These doors were taken out of a Methodist church where they had been part of a folding room divider wall. They are made of yellow pine and measure just under 9' tall and are 28" wide and 1 1/4" thick. The glass is a'snowflake' pattern. Smooth on one side and textured on the other. Had been used as an interior door. The beveled and textured leaded glass is in an octagonal shape.
