The door has a solid pine core covered with 1/8" birch veneer. It has a traditional, Arts& Crafts style, single panel design with wide, stepped molding contouring the inner edges of it's panels. Please don't think that"veneer" means inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture. This veneer is 1/8" thick and provides strength and stability to the door.
