The door has a solid white pine core and 6 windows. Although there are 6 windows. Only 4 have wavy glass lites installed. Unfortunately, 2 glass lites are missing. We could either custom cut new pieces from our collection of old glass. Or we could order new glass lites(i.e. beveled, tempered, leaded, stained, etc. and install them- email us for a quote. Hardware: The door is currently not equipped with any hardware. However. W e have a good selection of period hardware in our eBay store. And tons more in our physical store. It has the original brass door knob and back plates. An old turn knob door bell in the center…works! Door was reversed and re-hinged somewhere in the past. Two small stained glass lights are cracked but the rest of the glass is in very nice condition! The matching leaded stained glass side light is an added bonus! The doors each measure: 7 feet 5" at the tallest part of the arch. 19 3/4" wide each and almost 2" thick. The door are made of a solid hard wood. My friend does demo in Detroit and I bought the doors from him. I was going to have my builder cut through my drywall and fit them into a space for a walk in closet. We are planning to move, so the doors can be yours! In the last two photos I have added photos from my living room. I hung some old doors on a wall behind my sofa. This is a used 1900's Oak Entrance House Door. The door has beveled glass. 9 lite or glass sections. The entire glass area is 24" wide x 60" long. The door is 35 1/2" wide and is 83 3/8" tall and is 1 3/4" thick. The door has a 1/8" veneer finish. There is a couple spots were the veneer is missing. about 1/2" x 1/4" along edge and corner) The bottom edge has a strip of about 1/2" x 20" that has broken loose and is barely attached. The door is in really good shape. Though it is old and needs a good cleaning. It was under a large porch roof and had a storm door to protect it. It has all the hardware except key. No key. Original Moghul-styled House Door or Compound DOOR
HISTORY I found this door on a building site in Pune. Maharashtra State, India. It was on a pile of rubbish that had been accumulated from an old"Havali" that was being destroyed– for redevelopment. I had the door restored in India and then imported it to the UAE– where it was hung as the entrance-way to my garden. And villa in Dubai. It stayed there for 11 years and was kept pristine with a bees-wax based polishing every 10 days. I must have received well over 30 offers from local Emirati gentlemen to buy this gate from me– when they passed my house. Saw it and recognised it for what it was: a Moghul-styled antique which is the precursive style of decoration adopted in the Arabian Peninsula. The people who restored the door for me– Antiquarians from Mumbai– were categoric that the door was at least 200 years old. Though I cannot ... morecertify this. It IS in the style that was common on the houses of wealthy local Indian people of the time. The DOOR Made from Marante wood– a local. Indian hard-wood– the door is extraordinarily SOLID– and HEAVY. The detail of the carving is both intricate and rich– and in almost near-perfect condition. It sits on a solid Marante beam which is part of an equally sturdy frame. Capped by a lintel that is almost as solid. The door is built in the traditional way– as is witnessed from the reverse side. Where the nails can be seen to have been hammered, and then bent-over. The bottom"hinge" sits in metal plates– as per the photos. These have been newly re-engineered and were used bolted into a cement base. The top hinge slots into a rounded hole formed by part of the upper lintel. Traditionally. This kind of door was"locked" by using an old padlock to secure it from the outside, via the chain-and-hasp that are seen at the base of the right-hand section. This particular arrangement was hardly ever used as there was nearly always someone in the house. Internally, it used to be secured by a bar across both doors. So as to not drill through. This is a small door that was next to the large walk-in door that enabled a worker to take a peek in to the freezer without opening the large door and losing temperature. HUGE Vintage Ice House Walk-In Wood Panel Door Original Hardware- United Cork These huge freezer doors came from a cold storage building that was built in the 1930's and they had thick cork insulated backs on them before I pried them off. The cast iron hinges on these doors are quite amazing given the size and style. The second to last picture shows a set of the hardware a little better. The doors were made by United Cork Companies and they all have a brass nameplate on them as the third to last picture shows. Though many of them were painted over. They are a solid wood panel door(not sure of the type of wood) and they are all in good condition with plenty of character and patina. Each door comes with a complete set of hardware including: 3 hinges. Spring loaded handle, strike plate, and the interior plunger. I also have the original ... morescrews that mounted the hinges to the door. I can also sell a door without the hardware.
