Antique Ornate Door With Etched Glass Window
While remodeling a turn-of-the-century home. I found this beautiful old door inside a wall. I cleaned it up, and put it in my home, but would like to sell it now. It measures 32 x 80 x 1.75 inches, has an etched glass window, and I would consider selling the trim along with the door. The trim is butternut, I think, and was not found with the door. The wood appears to be oak, and some pieces appear to be veneered. As I would not ship it due to the fragile nature of the glass, the buyer would have to pick it up in Georgetown, Illinois. If the top bid is $1000.00 or more, the butternut trim will be included with the door. Buyer resposible for detaching and removal.

Each door has a etched basket of daisies in them and a large star at the bottom. The border around each of the doors is also etched glass. The wood appears to be oak and is in decent condition. The glass is in perfect condition with no cracks or chips. Each door measures 30 x 80. The bottom latch lock is missing on one of the doors. This auction is for local pickup only. These absolutely gorgeous 3 section antique quartersawn oak Victorian era doors with fabulous etched glass windows with all the bells and whistles when it comes to fine exquisite antique etched glass. Like it's cartouches and swags in the corners and across the tops above the three Dutch scenes across the bottom, each individual but they work together, like the doors, drawn in by their border designs. This old glass appears to be in very good condition, intact and free of any cracks, chips or hairlines. The paneled oak doors are solid and in very nice condition on both sides, and protected across the bottom on each side by an attached wood kick board on both sides of each of the three doors. They are designed with built in hinges as shown in close up and they do have the old hardware, also as shown. The scenes one the etched glass are ... morevery detailed and simply exquisite. On one side a woman and child watch a boy in a rowboat with a windmill in the background. In the center it appears the boy in the rowboat has reached the windmill and he sits playing with a toy sailboat. On the other side pane, there is a woman with a flower basket, with a windmill and another out building in the background. There is an interesting border design with cartouche's in the outside corners across the bottom of the three scenes and across the top of the three tree sprays which show the three panes come together as one picture, as in one doors. These three doors are each 108 inches tall and are 27 1/4 inch wide and 1 3/8's inches thick. These are gorgeous formidable sturdy old Victorian doors, ready for use and as a decorative highlight in any large Victorian sized home which can accomodate their size. Up for auction I have a wonderful late 19th Century Victorian door with Eastlake details and an extra large original acid etched window that is in great shape with no damage. I would date this historic door to the 1880's or 1890's. Sorry but my pictures of the glass are somewhat blurry. I had trouble photographing this. The glass detail is actually quite crisp looking.This was acquired in the Brownsville. Oregon area. The window is a country scene with a mother and child feeding a fawn with the mother deer watching from close by. There are trees, birds, an Egret, water with water lilies and plants, a dragonfly, a scroll and other esthetic details. This door is made of old growth fir and someone has already started to strip off the old paint although some paint remains. The overall size of the door is approx. 88" tall x 29" ... morewide x 1 3/4" thick. The applied carvings add some extra thickness but will not affect the door casing at all. The etched window is approx. 38" x 20" and is held in place with wooden trim moulding. The mortise lock is still in place but the door knobs, plates and original hinges are gone. This also had a face mount dead bolt at one time. No major damaged areas on the wooden parts- just normal bumps and wear for a 100+ year old door. Item must be picked up by buyer or buyers shipper.
