1920S ART DECO BEAUX ARTS LINCOLN MEMORIAL ARCHITECTURE PLAN WATERCOLOR HIBSHMAN
1920s Art Deco. Beaux Arts, Standing Lincoln Memormial Architecture Plan, B. T. Hibshman 1920S PEN& WATERCOLOR BEAUX-ARTS ART DECO ARCHITECTURE PLAN Founded in 1894 from a core group of American architects who had studied in France at the Ecole de Beaux-Arts. The Society of Beaux-Arts Architects aimed to‘remedy the vagaries and abuses of architecture as it is too generally practiced in the United States’ they were successful in this primarily through there instituting a rigorous and highly competitive atelier based curriculum based on the French School. They held yearly competitions where awards were given to the most excellent work. For your consideration is this 1920s pen and watercolor classical architecture plan for an untitled plan conceived by B. T. Hibshman of the Cleveland School of Architecture. A regular contributor to the Society ... moreawards process. It features A Standing Lincoln Memorial. Complete with what appears to be mid 19 th century American citizens or soldiers in the foreground as well as a layout of a garden and walkway. An interesting plan by Hibshman. Featuring his 1920s perspective on an‘archaeological’ scene presumably set in Civil War or Antebellum America. This plan was created with ink. Pencil(perhaps graphite? and watercolor. Condition notes: Very good. This circa 1920s architecture plan measures 37 ½ inches by 24 inches. This plan does not bear the usual stamps from the Society of Beaux-Arts Architects seen in some of his other work. But it does state state Hibshman’s name in the lower right corner and the phrase“2 nd Prize” in crayon. There is a light overall warp due to being stored in a rolled position. Pin holes in corners. The overall impression of this distinct. Bold and classically designed Art Deco imagining of Civil War America by B. T. First in my grandma's house while growing up and then in my own home for about the past 30 years. I was told that it was custom-made and that it is one-of-a-kind. I would describe the style as subtle art deco. I have used it as a sideboard/credenza/buffet/chest as well as storage in an office, where it received constant compliments. It is wonderfully well-made in a very subtle art deco/craftsman/eclectic design that will actually work well with and complement many styles of furniture, including mid-century modern, arts& crafts, Eames era, and craftsman. I have been told by a carpenter with knowledge of wood, that it is a fine grade of teak, with beautiful dovetailing and separations between the drawer compartments ... moreand cabinet sections. One of the two side drawers is lined with green felt and partitioned to accommodate serving pieces or silverware. On each side, under the small top drawers, is a door behind which is open storage with two levels. In the center are three drawers, one shallower drawer at the top and two deeper drawers below. It is designed so that the center section with the drawers is gracefully indented between a slightly wider section on each end, with the drawers and open storage. The corners solid wood top are gracefully rounded, as is the place where the center section curves out to meet the wider sides. The hardware is beautifully simple and well designed. It is in very good to excellent vintage/antique condition. With smoothly sliding drawers and very little in the way of surface cosmetic concerns. All the joints are. Dimensions: Width is 62-1/2 inches. The two outer sections are 21 inches deep. The center section is 19-1/2 inches deep. Height is 33-3/4 inches. Inside the doors. Arts & Crafts/Deco Era Havstad Pewter Norway Tea Pot, Creamer & Sugar Bowl
Again I have one of those items that I rationalize as to why I don't keep it myself. Early Havstad Pewter is pretty scare and this is a quite fine example. The Set includes The Tea pot with hinged covered lid. Creamer and Sugar Bowl. Very handsome style in Arts& Crafts? Art Deco style made in the early 1900's and signed. All of the pieces are free from rust, dents and dings. No deep scratches and minimal scuff as you can see by the photographs. The inside of the Tea Pot could be cleaned a bit better for proper use, Most handsome is the rippled wooden turned handles on both the Tea Pot and Creamer. The curve of the spouts are tastefully done as well with horizontal ribs along the rims. The Tea Pot stands6 inches tall and would hold 2 cups of liquid with room to spare. Both the Cream Pitcher and Sugar Bowl stand at 3-1/2 inches.

The sale begins with an important and massive Samuel Yellin wrought-iron floor candelabrum from the 1920s. Possibly made for the Washington National Cathedral. ART DECO/ARTS& CRAFTS BRONZE RELIEF of 2 SEMI-NUDE FEMALE DANCERS- MONOGRAM Description. A striking small bronze relief on the theme of dance in the Art Deco or Arts& Crafts style. Depicting two semi-nude/bare breasted females in Greek-style diaphanous skirts. One with long hair and the other with short hair. This would seem to be by a good artist/sculptor but I don't know who- there is a monogram devise in the bottom right corner. There is a penned name to the reverse-possibly an owner. It appears to read TAHRENDE or TANRENDE MVSEN. Possibly Scandinavian or Russian. Dating circa 1930's. In good condition but some rubbing to high points. It would have had a suspension loop on the back which is now missing- see photos or ask questions. Very Hard to find and and lovingly restored to a brilliant blend of golds. Greens, red, copper, bronze and oil rubbed to enhance detail. Fixtures from this period were made with care and great thought. Everything about them was made to last. Th is is a five light chandelier with five arms that hold chains that lead to a small bonnet and that is where the canopy me ets. The arms hold a cons olidated glass slip on smoke bell over each socket. The glass is in great condition with some minor not noticeable age chips around the edges. For the age they are exceptional. The flash from the camera bri ngs the colors out brighter. Actually the gold is brilliant against the bronze and brass, but not so bright as in picture 4 and 2. The hang of the fixture is about 31 inches and can be reduced by taking out some of the diamond shaped chain. The sockets ... moreare new and rewired. The candle covers are original and wor n. ITEM: Under the virtual hammer this week is a wonderful pair of Arts& Crafts bronze. Sand-cast owl bookends. These were made by a fairly obscure company called Gift House Inc. under the'BronzeMet' logo, established in 1922(unfortunately, the hallmark is very nearly illegible; however, I have provided an example for comparison) ... moreBronzeMet was a contemporary of the larger, more prolific companies of Armor, Bradley& Hubbard, Galvano, Kathodian, Marion, and Pompeian. Here is some additional information I've discovered: BronzMet was a distinctive logo patented by The Gift House. Inc. in 1922. They produced a large variety of sand cast iron bookends. Gift House was in business from the early 1920s producing their own line of iron bookends with copyrights dating from 1924-1926. At one time there was also a distribution liaison between Gift House and Nuart Metal Creations who was listed as a Gift House subsidiary. All three bookend lines. Hard hit by the Great Depression, were out of business by the mid 1930s. These stylish bookends are certainly top-quality. Heavy pieces with a wonderful patina on them. Each owl, standing on an open book, is burnished in lush, coppery bronze. Owls are, of course, the ancient symbol of wisdom and erudition. In addition to the maker's mark, each bookend is also stamped with"D 18" probably a catalog number) Each bookend measures approximately 5½" in height and 3½" in width at the base. Arts and Crafts/ Art Deco period dresser tray, Mackintosh rose
Handsome high arts and crafts period dresser tray. Glass topped. Faux wood grained, double handled. The center motif is almost identical to the Mackintosh rose, and the entire piece is understated, in the manner of true arts and crafts sensibilities. The motif is inlaid into the background, although it appears to be paper and not wood inlay. The effect is gorgeous. Very slight damage to one small area(tiny knicks, maybe two or three) of the frame, can be restored satisfactorily with wood grain or felt pen. Other than this, it is in great shape, and I would use it in my home as is.Measures 19" with handles x 11" wide. My brother. An arts and crafts expert, and I are having a"discussion" as to whether this is arts and crafts or art deco. We are calling it both. The rose appears arts and crafts and the side bars show art ... moredeco influence. The date of the tray is probably c. 1910, so it is right on the cusp era-wise. You be the judge.

Attractive Arts & Crafts-Art Nouveau-Art Deco Brass and Wooden Box
Hi Super Original Desktop Box in dark wood with brass finish to the edges. Mounted on circular brass feet and with an inset design to top in brass. I cannot decide if this box is Art Deco or possibly Art Nouveau going by the design to the top. Internally the box has been felt lined to the base and a piece of fabric has been affixed to the inside of the lid using drawing pin's which still has two long pins(hat pins) in place. Great Condition overall. Would really benefit from a polish to the brass and wood which would make this wonderful box look really rather nice. Old Deco Machine Age Hand Made Arts Crafts Solid Copper Bookends Book End 13 Lb.
This listing is for a beautiful pair of vintage hand machined solid copper bookends. Together. They weigh 13.5 pounds. Nice original patina- I wiped them off with a damp rag to clean off the dust, and they came up nice, without damaging the original patina. I heavily cleaned the underside of one to show the rich copper color underneath(11th photo) The machining, and file marks are still visible in areas, and add to the great texture. They measure 4 7/16" tall, 4 15/16" wide, 3 7/16" deep, and the bases are 15/16" thick. Excellent condition with attractive age wear. Email with any questions, and check out my other listings!

Vintage Slag Glass Lamp Shade with Winged Griffins Shown is a vintage caramel slag glass lamp shade with a very sturdy and ornate metal(lead) frame that features winged griffins. The frame has no breaks and no repairs and comes to you with its original untouched brass/gilded finish and aged patina. The shade measures 13 inches wide at the bottom(corner to corner) and 4 inches wide at the top and stands 7 inches tall. The 6 panels measure 6 inches at the bottom and 2 inches at the top. Up for auction is a beautiful vintage Gouda art pottery polychrome jardiniere circa 1920s- 30s. Beautiful stylized iris flower motif. Matte black with blue. Golden mustard, and shades of orange-brown. Fully marked on bottom. One chip to the exterior on one of the flowers, one hairline with a fleabite, three small chips along the top rim, some glaze chips and crazing to the interior.
