Unsure of it's age, definitely vintage and possibly antique. I exhausted many searches and didn't find one other like it. Most of the creels that I saw are made of wicker, a few canvas creels but nothing with the wooden top and bottom like this. My favorite part of it is the nautical rope around the top and bottom. The thick fisherman's rope, in near perfect condition with a few areas of slight fraying. Offering it for a very low price, the other 1960's&70's canvas creels without the rare materials and design of this one are being sold for upwards of $179.00. This is a wood oval beveled glass entry door. I measures 31 3/4" x 78 1/2" x 1 3/4" It has a 1 1/4" oval beveled glass window. It is painted on the exterior side and has never been stained or painted on the interior. It is in good overall condition with typical dings for its age. It does not come with hardware. The hardware is being sold in a separate auction. The door was originally set installed with surface hinges and has a right hand swing. I also have a second matching door that has some condition problems. If you are interested in the second door. I would sell it for $150.00 plus s&h for it. You are considering a(one) vintage weathered horse barn stall door/fence gate. There are eleven in all. They vary in size. But the overriding measurement is 72' tall X 41 1/2" wide. Your winning bid allows you to choose which one you want. Some of the gates still have hardware attached. I was told they are oak, but I have not planed any of the wood. The door is made of solid, old pine and is painted on both sides. If you think that pine is a weak. Soft wood; please keep in mind that the wood milled from modern pine trees, which only grow for a few decades before they are cut down, is not the same quality as the wood that was milled by our forefathers from trees that were hundreds of years old. This door was built using the wood from mature pine trees, and exhibits the qualities of wood that has endured the test of time. As a result, it's physically harder, less susceptible to warping and twisting, and more insect and rot resistant than today's pine lumber. As you could see from the photos, they let the door get wet, and there are water stains. However, the stains are purely superficial and will be removed after a few minutes of sanding. There are minor cosmetic blemishes from top to bottom. Including chips along the edges, a broken/missing portion of wood directly above the top hinge mortise, a small broken/missing portion of wood from the bottom edge of the door on the interior side, and a couple of dents or tiny broken portions near the panels(see photos) However, the door is quite strong, sturdy, and in good overall condition. Penn Antique Restoration. 30"x89"x1.75" Antique Oak& Chestnut Door w/5 Raised Panels. Robust. Antique, interior door salvaged from an old home in Northeastern Ohio. The door has a solid, chestnut core covered with 1/4" thick, quartersawn or riftsawn oak veneers on both sides. The door is also painted and features 6 raised panels on both sides. C hestnut is a rare and valuable wood; it’s not commercially available due to the blight introduced between 1900& 1908. Which made the North American chestnut trees virtually extinct by 1940. Also, please don't think that"veneer" means inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture. These veneers are almost 1/4" thick and provide strength and stability to the door. The door could be sanded and refinished several times ... morebefore the door would need to be re-veneered. Hardware: The door doesn't come equipped with any hardware. However. We have a good selection of period hardware to outfit the door(check out our eBay store) The door was originally a part of a pair. And it had internal slide bolts, which locked it into the frame, while the other door was allowed to swing freely. The 2 bolts were removed, and the 7"x1 1/4" holes remain. We could plug these holes with solid wood- email us for a quote. Condition: There are 2 long dents or impact marks measuring about 4"x1 1/2" on the upper half of the hinge stile on the exterior side. They look like an upside down"L" There are also a few small nicks and chips along the edges(the biggest is shown in one of the photos) However. For sale are a lot of antique and vintage Door-Stops. These are the kind that screw into the wall/molding to prevent a door from damaging the wall when opened. There are all sorts here including wood ones from the victorian period. A few early metal ones, and a weird brass figural rabbit. I think the rabbit may not be a door stop but it sure looks like one. It may just be a draw pull. The most awesome is that massive brass/bronze one as seen close-up in the last 4 pictures. It is simply massive and beautiful! The condition of the stops are generally good with varying degrees of typical wear from age and use, as pictured. One is missing a screw, another has some nail holes, and none have been cleaned. Penn Antique Restoration. 34"x83"x1.75" Antique Victorian Entry Door w/Window& 2 Panels. Distressed. Antique, exterior door salvaged from an old home in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The door has a solid pine core covered with 1/4" thick, quatersawn oak veneers on the exterior side, and 1/4" thick heartpine veneers on the interior side. The door is painted on both sides. Please note that heartpine is the non-living. Core of a pine tree, and not the soft, outer, living sap-wood. Since it takes 30 years for a pine tree just to develop just 1” of heart stock it is rarer, harder, more durable, more insect& rot resistant, less susceptible to warping and twisting, and is much more valuable than the cheap, pine lumber that is commonly found at most hardware stores. Also, please don't think that"veneer" ... moremeans inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture. These veneers are 1/4" thick and provide strength and stability to the door. The door could be sanded and refinished several times before the door would need to be re-veneered. The door has a lhalf-length window. On the exterior side. There is a stepped ledge with carved motif below the window. Also notice the beautiful applied molding around the 2, raised panels below-nice accents! Hardware: The door is not equipped with any hardware. We have a good selection of period hardware to outfit the door(check out our eBay store) If you would like any of the hardware holes plugged with a solid wood. Please email us for a quote. Condition: The door must have sat along it's lock stile edge in some water for a long period of time. As the wood(both veneer and core strips) along that side have rotted away. Luckily, due to the way that the door was constructed, we were able to simply"pull off" the 1 3/8" thick, bad strips of core wood, and the wood that remains is good and usable. Most of the lock stile's veneer is intact, and the partially broken portions could be replaced.

The door is made of solid white pine and has 5 raised panels on both sides. If you think that pine is a weak. Soft wood; please keep in mind that the wood milled from modern pine trees, which only grow for a few decades before they are cut down, is not the same quality as the wood that was milled by our forefathers from trees that were hundreds of years old. This door was built using the wood from mature pine trees, and exhibits the qualities of wood that has endured the test of time. As a result, it's physically harder, less susceptible to warping and twisting, and more insect and rot resistant than today's pine lumber. Someone added a strip of wood to the top of the ... moredoor to increase the height by 3/4" it's easy to remove. Hardware: The door is not equipped with any hardware. However. The door has a solid pine core covered with 1/16" thick, birch veneers, and has an unusual arrangement of 3, recessed panels. Notice the Arts& Crafts style, stepped molding contouring the outer edges of the panels. When most people hear"pine" they think of a cheap. Weak, and soft wood. New pine hewn from 10- 20 year old trees doesn't have the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old has. This door is absolute masterpiece and you won't find anything else like it on ebay because it was restored and works. The carving is just unbelievable and intricate, as good of quality as you will ever see. These Indian doors traditionally have very ugly backs(with nails sticking out) and do not work. This door was restored to actually work and old growth teak wood was added to the back to make it attractive The outer height is 100" and the width is 63" The height can be reduced by 4" by removing the threshold. These veneers are almost 1/8" thick and provide strength and stability to the door. There are globs of dried paint stripper on the painted side of the door.
