The door is made of solid Douglas fir and has 12 glass lites. The door has a unique arrangement of 12 glass lites. 3 of the 4 rows of lites have textured glass with 1 row(3 glass lites) having just plain glass. If you do not like the 3 plain glass lites installed. We could either custom cut new pieces from our collection of old glass. Or we could order new glass lites(i.e. beveled, tempered, leaded, stained, etc. and install them. email us for a quote. Hardware: The door is currently not equipped with any hardware. However. Please note: this door has finger joints on the stiles(see pic) Though it is solid wood and not veneered. It looks like these were paint-grade doors that someone had stained instead. These really should be painted! Also,there is a crack near the hole for the lockset(see pic) Here is a 2-panel door removed from an older home. Most likely from the 1950's-60's. The door is in nice overall condition. Though there are scratches, gouges and small holes throughout(see pics) It has a light layer of stain on it, so just a light sanding/hole-filling and it's ready for paint. This door was built using the wood from mature pine trees, and exhibits the qualities of wood that has endured the test of time. As a result, it's physically harder, less susceptible to warping and twisting, and more insect and rot resistant than today's pine lumber. The door has 5. The door has a solid, chestnut core covered with 1/4" thick, quartersawn or riftsawn oak veneers on both sides. The door is also painted and features 6 raised panels on both sides. C hestnut is a rare and valuable wood; it’s not commercially available due to the blight introduced between 1900& 1908. Which made the North American chestnut trees virtually extinct by 1940. Also, please don't think that"veneer" means inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture. These veneers are almost 1/4" thick and provide strength and stability to the door. The door could be sanded and refinished several times ... morebefore the door would need to be re-veneered. Hardware: The door doesn't come equipped with any hardware. However. We have a good selection of period hardware to outfit the door(check out our eBay store) The door was originally a part of a pair. The door has a solid, ash core covered with 1/16" thick, ash veneers. Ash is a hardwood that looks very similar to Oak. The door is finished on one side and painted on the other. There are 6, horizontal, recessed panels on both sides of the door. Also, please don't think that"veneer" means inferior quality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture. These veneers are almost 1/8" thick and provide strength and stability to the door. There are globs of dried paint stripper on the painted side of the door. And some of the globs on the lower portion have some mold. The globs are not positioned in a logical pattern, and they seem ... morelike the got onto the door by accident. The globs and mold are very easy to remove, and pose no threat to the door whatsoever; we only mentioned this to you so there is no confusion about what the dark spots are. All doors have a solid pine cores covered with 1/8" birch veneers. They all have a traditional, Arts& Crafts style, single panel design with wide, stepped molding contouring the inner edges of their panels. Please don't think that"veneer" means inferior ... morequality. Unlike the paper-thin veneers used on modern doors and furniture. These veneers are 1/8" thick and provide strength and stability to the door. Hardware: The doors are not equipped with any hardware. However. This door was salvaged from an old house and has not been recently painted. The door has 4 panels on each side. It has an old slide lock as well(see pictures) The key lock mechanism is untested and there is no key. The hinges on the door are broken and unusable(see pictures) Very well constructed and made of a wood that's not too heavy. The door has a lot of scratches and may need to be resanded and painted if you want it to look perfect. Great project for someone with the skills.
