There is plastic trim that goes around the perimeter of the top and one of the corners is slightly melted and shown in one of the photos. The drawer fronts are clean with just a few minor imperfections and the"worst" of which are pictured in the photos. This piece requires careful inspection to notice any of these minor flaws but I believe in full disclosure. You will not be disappointed when you get it home! The construction is exceptional with tight dovetailed joints at every corner of the drawers. The drawers slide smooth and sit flush. Not sure on age but I would say 1970's.
