It is absolutely astonishing the amount of detail these craftsman put in their art. The intricate patterned carvings are simply gorgeous in skill and design. This used to be Emily's. Can you believe how fast they grow up, she used to be such a nice little girl. Anyway, she found it at a yard sale out here in the backwoods of western Maine, so we really have no idea how old it is, except it has that mid-century modern look, doesn't it, with all that brass and glass. Actually, none of it is real brass, the magnet sticks to all the metal pieces, so it must be steel with a brass wash that has typical pitting and surface wear from either age or cheap manufacture. The plastic flowers were Emily's idea, they're easily removable if you don't like them, but they add a bit of color. So let's give you some measurements. First. From the floor to the top of the mirror is about 46½" The distance from the floor to the glass table top is about 28" which leaves you about ... more23" of knee space under the lower glass shelf. The table top and lower shelf both measure about 28½" x 14½" and the mirror is about 12" x 16" The width between the two front legs- which also defines your knee space- is about 19" We don't have a matching chair for it. Emily used to sit on a piano stool on the rare occasions when she used it. Because we don't want to get involved in crating this item for shipping. We are advertising it as"local pickup only" and we are in Cornish, Maine. However, if you really want it shipped to distant parts, then e-mail us and we'll see what we can negotiate. Presenting one of the most exquisite pieces of vintage small furniture I've seen in a while: an oval cream white painted wood marble top vanity or boudoir side table with reticulated or pierced brass filigree rim in the Hollywood Regency style. Stamped on the bottom"Danby" This little table measures about 18 inches high to the top of the brass rim, 15 1/4 inches wide across the rim and 12 1/2 inches front to back across the rim. It has sleek, classic Federal style legs and a gray veined white marble top, with the brass rim surrounding the marble and rising about 3/4 of an inch from the top, creating a tray-like surface perfect for vanity items like combs, hand mirrors and brushes, perfume bottles, powder jars, compacts, make-up, etc. It makes a perfect little table at the side of a bed, fainting couch, vanity or vanity ... morebench. CHAIR ~Vanity table measures 34 inches wide. 20 inches deep and 30 inches tall from the floor ~Vanity table has 2 original solid brass teardrop drawer pulls recessed within saucer shaped cups ~The drawer works perfectly. Pull out smoothly, and close tightly. ~There is an original Counterpoint by Drexel tag inside the drawer. ~See spots and imperfections in pictures on table top. The surface is smooth to the touch so these marks may be able to be rubbed out with furniture polish. It just depends the way the light hits if you can see. Or what spots you can see. In some light, the spots are barely visible. Otherwise, the table is in excellent condition. ~The mirror has a wire hanger attached to the ... moreback so mirror can be hung from the wall. ~The mirror measures almost 36 inches tall. 20 inches wide, and the top over hanging pieces measure 22 3/4 inches wide. ~The mirror is in perfect condition ~Counterpoint by Drexel is stamped on the back of the mirror ~The barrel shaped chair is covered in a peach cotton fabric. The fabric has spots on it. ~Drexel is imprinted on the bottom of the chair but it is very light. See picture ~The seat of the chair is 20 1/2 inches wide at the wides point. Vanity or dressing table with mirror by the Austinsuites Furniture Company, England, who were among the English furniture makers who switched gears from their former quality traditional design furniture to compete in the new rapidly growing market of the times and specialized in manufacturing quality teak mid-century Danish Modern design furniture during the late 1950's through 1970's. This kneehole dresser, which would also make a fine desk if used without it's mirror, is one of a number pieces of Danish Modern design furniture manufactured by high end furniture makers in UK at the time, all making quality teak mid-century furniture to sell within the United Kingdom at the time and, most recently, imported ... morethrough Edinburgh, Scotland by my consignor. This is a poignant Danish Modern vanity from the 1960s. The vanity is fashioned from a mixture of solid teak and teak veneer with a lovely honey-amber finish to the wood. The vanity has a unique flip-top. Making it perfectly serviceable as a modern day desk. The vanity opens to reveal a large rectangular mirror. A recessed back compartment for taller items, it features an electric outlet inside with a cord that leads thru the back with a plug on the end. A recessed channel across the front for smaller belongings. There is a removable tray made from solid teak with four dividers and a green felt lining.
