This is a piece that was built to last with strong and heavy construction throughout. The crest is an ornate and complicated carving of flowing ribbon tied in a double-bow and interlaced with flowers that sprout over and along the frame, likewise carved carefully with a large twisted rope molding lined by a small twisted rope border. The arms flow down into curved handholds, the arm supports terminating in the frame with acanthus leaves sprouting up along the edges. These arms flank a deep and very comfortable down upholstered cushion, thick and very supportive, complimenting the overall cant of the chair- by leaning just slightly backwards. North Carolina in 1945 by four men determined to build furniture of custom quality. The initial product line consisted of just three chests.
